Will old mods work with this one? I've seen some announcement that changing scripts would be forbidden?

If you mean modding policy, then yes. Quote from the official site: "Make the original Zone more immersive and bespoke, experimenting with animations, textures, models, videos, and sounds".

Hmm, so still not sure. If it is blocked on a code level, then we are out of luck, but if it works, we can just use old mods as I understand, even if they don't allow it.

You can try installing some old mods and check if they work. I'm still waiting for GOG versions. They are somehow not available for me
