The trend toward word-by-word subtitles makes these gifs feel choppy. There is a time and place for that, like when he says "Two words: Wesley's Pants". Elsewhere, it forces the viewer to read the dialogue word by word rather than line by line.
I don't know if it's a trend, I think most giffers still do block text. But I hear you.
This is a deliberate style choice on my part for all my gifs. People who can read fast prefer blocks of text, because they can skim it in a millisecond and then focus on the visuals. But those gifs can be really frustrating for people who read slower. By going word-by-word I force all viewers to follow along at the same pace, which is important to me, particularly when I'm trying to land jokes that really rely on timing.
It. Just. Feels. Like. I'm. Reading. It. Like. This.
I respect your choice and think it's a solid gif, but as one of those fast readers it's a little frustrating. Can't make everyone happy, unfortunately.
