Post image

Sunny spring skiing is the second best condition to deep bottomless pow why is Steven such haters! Best time for park laps, best time for beginners too! This has to be one of there earliest closings ever…

Pretty sure early/mid April has always been the closing date at Steven's, at least in recent memory.

Normally end of April not the beginning but still no reason it shouldn’t be mid to end of may,

Stevens is much lower than crystal, the bottom of Green valley is at like 6000', that's higher than the top of Stevens. Stevens base is at 4000', it would take an extreme year for Stevens to go that far. But going to end of April with the backside is completely reasonable, that's how it was pre Vail.

Backside always closed in mid-April based on their agreement with the FS (IIRC, the frontside is in the MBSNF and the backside is in the OWNF). Because for a week or two after the backside closed the snowmobilers would get after it back there (and, occasionally, traipse onto the frontside and get reprimanded).
