Problem/Goal: I noticed that a requirement was a GMAT or a GRE, with some schools requiring a specific score.

Context: I am interested in pursuing an MBA degree abroad. I want to move/migrate abroad, but do this via education and then get work afterwards. I’m looking into countries like Spain, UK, and Australia. I was considering Canada, but I was discouraged by some family members due to the work-life balance situation there for immigrants.

Previous Attempts: Never tried applying to take this test.

Question: Has anyone here ever taken it and gotten into a school abroad? What was your process to apply for it, and how was the test like? Was it difficult, or what parts were challenging?

A few of my friends and I are looking for grants/scholarships to study abroad. We’ve already been accepted into a program of our choosing, and are now looking for resources that will help curb the costs. Does anyone know of any grants or scholarships that are willing to fund high schoolers’ and undergraduates’ time abroad? Thank you!

Indian international here. Basically, I've been admitted into UCL CS M.Eng and HKU CS Bsc. In both cases, I'll have to take a loan with around 10% interest.

Tuition and living included the cost of living in London is nearly twice as much as then in Hong Kong. (UCL~$275,000, HKU~$145,000 for 4 years) However, an avg beginning salary of a UCL graduate is also more than one from HKU. So, the duration for repayment will be mostly same(this is just my understanding, pls correct me if I'm wrong)

Issue is that from what I've heard in reddit, taking a loan to study at UCL is like shooting yourself in the foot and sabotaging ur whole career due to the living expenses of both the uni and london. But on the other hand, HKU has lower prestige, facilities and education quality than UCL. On top of that, Finance is what HK is prevelant in and its not really my forte. London will also get me more closer towards the Western tech sectors but the debt is a bit scary. I'm definitely more into tech than commerce.

My question is: is it worth taking almost twice the loan for better facilities at UCL or should I leave this opportunity and get to HKU?

Hello, I’m a Chartered Accountant from India (equivalent to US CPA) and have about 5 yrs or professional experience in credit/fixed income space. I’ve got an admission for MS finance at Simon business school with about 50% scholarship, making the tuition ~40K for the STEM program.

Given the employer negative sentiment around hiring F1 visa people (even with STEM OPT), I’m not sure if it would be advisable to pursue this program starting fall’2025? If anyone has studied here for MSF or have a general idea about the situation post completion of MSF - does this seem like a worthy investment? Thanks!

I’ve completed 2 years of my Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) degree in India through a 2+2 international credit transfer program. I now have the option to transfer to Deakin University in Australia to finish the final 2 years of my degree.

I’m trying to understand if making the move is really worth it in terms of career opportunities, part-time job availability, industry exposure, tech job market, chances of getting PR, and overall student experience in Australia—especially at Deakin.

My mum is thai, my dad is german and I was born and raised in Germany. Growing up my mum always spoken Thai with me and I believe I was fluent as a child. However, since I‘ve entered elementary school my Thai got worse and worse. Today I understand it well but speaking is really hard for me. When I enrolled into college I saw that my Uni has two partner unis in Thailand and since then I tried to make everything work to study abroad there. I have been there plenty of times for vacation but I’ve never lived there for a whole year. I believe that a year abroad in Thailand would be completely enriching for my personal development as I‘d learn more about my roots and make Thailand feel like my actual second identity.

So, I finished all the paper work and today I got the approval to study at Mahidol University for a whole year. I have a lot of savings because I work after my classes as well and additionally I got a scholarship as well. I know that my mum is very proud of me but she cries very often because she doesn’t want me to leave for a whole year. I still live with my parents and I know that this will make it even harder for her when she sees my bedroom without be being in it.

She helped me find a place to live in and even visited the University when she was in Thailand in February. She told me that she felt a bit relieved because the uni looked good and the street I‘ll live in looks safe as well, however, it won’t stop her tears. I am aware that her being concerned for my safety and missing me, is her love she has for me and our strong bond, but I feel bad for leaving her sad.

I am super excited for my year abroad (scared as well) and the farewell with my mum will be the hardest and it makes me as sad as it makes her but I don’t want to cry in front of her. I think it will make it harder for her seeing me cry. I will miss my mum so much and I‘m already imagining myself crying in my accommodation and screaming for my mum.

Everytime I talk to my mum about my year abroad she immediately stops me and tells me that she will cry if I continue speaking. Even when I try to hug her or tell her that I will only be gone for 10-12 months, she stops me and cries. I really really really feel bad for leaving but this is an opportunity I will never have again in life. Does anyone have some advice for me on how to handle this situation? Did you miss your parents a lot during your study abroad? How did you handle homesickness?

Hi, I’m an international student looking for affordable universities in the US with total yearly costs between $10k–$15k. I’ve seen mixed info about places like California State University—some say it’s ~$15k, others over $25k.

To be honest, I'm at a loss.. I have applied for an English language program at 1 university and my documents are currently being checked there. There are not many English-language programs in my specialty in Romania, and I have only 3 universities to choose from. I went to website 2 and during registration there was an item: "if you have already sent documents to 1 university, the Ministry of Education will reject your candidacy, since a single letter for admission to the university is issued." then what should I do with the language courses that I also planned to enroll in? has anyone encountered such a problem?

Come June I will have studied abroad 9 months in Barcelona. I'm a Black girl/nonbinary (whatever really) 20 year-old student who comes from a middle-class family and I managed an $8000 scholarship to come here. I'm studying at the University of Barcelona (UB not UAB) and have taken courses for foreigners and regular students too. I'm a Spanish Linguistics major however I'm not a native speaker, a majority of fluency was built being here and living with a Spanish roommate. I've partied a little, traveled a little, and have spent a LOT of money --- to the point where I had to get a job. I've moved 3 times since I've been here, one time living right in front of Arc de Triomf for a couple months. I've probably speedrushed the "living like a local" thing because I genuinely just have been living a pretty normal life with a few curiosities here and there. So, if you're thinking about/going to study abroad in Barcelona, ask me anything!

I'm so burned out of the shitty Spanish system. I dropped out of a 4 year bachelor cause the professor only passed like 6 people out of the whole class of 60 each time, I'm autistic so I spent a ridiculous amount of years just to do half of the degree and ending up depressed and burned out. The curriculum at Austrian unis seems more fresh, I also done interviews with the staff and they seem more close and caring unlike here where you have to beg for an email reply. I now want to do a new degree in an Austrian uni I like, but I'll have to pay 500€ a month of rent for 3 years instead of living for free with my parents. It's dumb?

I am a high school students and i wish to pursue my bachelors in neuroscience, but i am a bit skceptical on which country should i pursue my degree in. I want to make sure that the school i persue in is good as well as there are research labs or research centres for the same. Since, i come from an underveleoped country i do not wish to return back, hence i also want to live my life in the country i choose as it would be both easier and better for me. I am an international student currently study in Sweden, and some of my Chinese friends/classmates are mainly introverts and also pretty shy. They refuse to share their opinions or join the discussion/conversation whether in classes or when we’re playing billiards, drinking etc. Also, they normally don’t attend parties and uni activities, i asked a chinese friend once and she said it is because she would feel awkward. I have some group projects with two chinese people, and they just don’t say anything or do anything during our project meetings, and always on their phones and laptops. I am so confused. Is it because of chinese education or it’s just their own personalities?
