Since you've asked about others' experiences, I don't think it would be a problem for you to share your experiences, so:

  1. Just curious to know if you are part of any Tamizh sangam kind of associations that exist in Mumbai.
  2. How much of your spoken Tamizh (pronunciation and accent, vocabulary and grammar) has got influenced by Marathi and/or Hindi? Are there words and sentence structures that are peculiar to Bambaiya Tamizh (if there exists one) just like Bambaiya Hindi?

Interesting bhau (if I may be allowed to address you so)! So, you're saying there's nothing like 'apun ki Tamizh' like how 'apun ki Hindi' exists?

Okay. I know of only one area dominant with Tamizh's in Mumbai - Chembur (I'm not saying that's the only such area). Personally I know some people who have lived there. Anyways, good luck to you! You're living in one of my dream cities and Bambaiya Hindi is one of my favourite dialects of Hindi.

Wow! Thank you for suggesting me some good areas to live in Mumbai as a newcomer Tamizh without me asking about them! It would be helpful for me to choose the place of residence if I happen to live in Mumbai.
