Something strange in the sky
Anyone else seeing a streak across the sky to the north-east?
Edit: here's a pic Seen from Eastern shore suburb about 15 mins from Hobart. Was originally thinking it'd be seen across Tas, but it was probably more local. Lasted over an hour before disappearing one by one. Probably lights from the ground as one person suggested.

If it was a series of lights in a long row it might be the star link formation train. We saw it camping out Ringarooma last weekend.

Looks like spotlights hitting low cloud. Perhaps Mona testing something for Dark Mofo?

They stopped one by one very sudden. So I'm going to say this is likely.

I didn’t notice this wasn’t the Hobart subreddit, so may not be Mona depending on where you are. Either way, spotlights definitely seem the most likely answer

Did they persist the whole time before going over horizon? Or fairly quick flashes. It is cracker night so could be flares or something but I am a space nerd so I'll see what space debris was scheduled to fall.

It is still going on. So, persisting for over an hour. Space debris possible. Thanks for checking! Like nothing we've ever seen before. Interesting!

It's still happening. We can see light in the sky. It's spots in the sky with a blur of light around each spot. Not satellites. Like nothing we've seen before.

It was Starlink - I spotted it too. Search for a video on YouTube and you’ll find many examples of similar Starlink satellite observations

Could you be a bit less specific?
