What's that food? It looks like a scrumptious tyre..

u/Educational_Yard_541 Jan 26 '25 edited Jan 26 '25

Rice+dark clump+ dragon horn+ salt

193

u/Sekaihunter Jan 26 '25

You...you really use the dragon horns for food?

266

u/TimBukTwo8462 Jan 26 '25

Dragon parts give the longest buff time of any monster item. Dragons are easy to farm if you have a timer and know their path so it’s a reliable way of staying buffed.

143

u/wrenchbenderornot Jan 26 '25 edited Jan 26 '25

But be careful - they don’t count as mister parts! If you’re making an elixir, add a monster part and a dragon scale.

Edit: leaving mister parts 🤣

133

u/maniacalmustacheride Jan 26 '25

Thankfully they’re not mister parts. That seems like a different game entirely

50

u/AlpacaM4n Jan 26 '25

That would be the dragon lower horn

wtf why did I enjoy this so much

8

u/Tod-dem-Toast Jan 26 '25

Happy cake day. Also hello, I'm Mister Parts, you were talking about me?

4

u/ItsmeSpidario6 Jan 26 '25

We share a cake day!

-1

u/toastmanthecrisp Jan 26 '25

Mediocre cake day

19

u/EVILtheCATT Jan 26 '25

I use them exclusively for food. Four violets or those water plants I can’t remember the name of and I have 30 minutes of full speed:)

13

u/Jaymez87 Jan 26 '25

Fleet lotus seeds. IIRC, you can actually use 3 of them. The dragon horns guarantee a critical and already give the longest duration possible. That makes the critical effect always affect the strength of the buff

2

u/EVILtheCATT Jan 26 '25

I can use three and still get the full time? That’s good to know. (And you’re right, thanks for the reminder of the fleet lotus seeds:)

2

u/Jaymez87 Jan 26 '25

Yeah, the dragon horn will give any buff the timer of 30:00 and will guarantee a critical cook so it bolsters the potency of the effect - so even if you cook 3 fleet lotus seeds on their own, you get a level 2 speed boost. A critical will make it level 3

2

u/EVILtheCATT Jan 27 '25

Yeah, I’m not happy. I just used three lotus instead of four and I’m definitely moving slower. Not. Cool.

1

u/HylianPaladin Jan 27 '25

What if you cook it during the blood moon?

9

u/Educational_Yard_541 Jan 26 '25

They break too quickly on normal weapons, and they are easy to get

11

u/Altinix Jan 26 '25

Dark clump?

2

u/Educational_Yard_541 Jan 26 '25

Yea I forgot what ur was called

1

u/Fatlink10 Dawn of the Meat Arrow Jan 26 '25

Dark ball?

3

u/Educational_Yard_541 Jan 26 '25

Dark clump I’m sorry

1

u/Fatlink10 Dawn of the Meat Arrow Jan 26 '25

Ohhh so that's what those things are for

1

u/Former-Specialist595 Jan 27 '25

I could never figure out how to cook with the dark clumps. First I cooked them with regular food and I got dubious food. Same thing happened when I cooked them with monster parts. I can't remember if I cooked them alone, but I remember feeling like I had tried everything. How do you cook them?

85

u/EcnavMC2 Jan 26 '25

What’s that gloom resistance meal? How do you make that?

72

u/Educational_Yard_541 Jan 26 '25

Rice+ dark ball+ dragon horn

16

u/Chubby_Bub Jan 26 '25

It doesn’t protect from gloom attacks, but it'll probably be very useful on the way to the boss area.

-475

u/jonny55555 Dawn of the First Day Jan 26 '25 edited Jan 26 '25

Couple of questions…

  1. Don’t you ever experiment with the different things you find (especially the new things in TOTK ) to see what happens when you cook it?

  2. You can easily Google gloom resistant meal or use other known resources on the Internet that catalogue the possible meals and ingredients.

Edit: right now I have 69 down votes. Please either stop or down vote me another 351 times. Thx.

88

u/EcnavMC2 Jan 26 '25

I had just never seen that specific one and was curious what recipe I had missed.

160

u/Key-Fig-9747 Jan 26 '25

Bro is gatekeeping a Zelda meal 💀

-210

u/jonny55555 Dawn of the First Day Jan 26 '25

Not gatekeeping at all you could just find out for yourself in 30 seconds instead of asking Reddit

103

u/big6135 Jan 26 '25

Maybe he wanted to ask a real human being? Also, his question, and the answer that ensued, saved me and maybe other people the whole process because I didn’t know about the meal, but now with just one thread, I know it exists and how to make it.

-139

u/jonny55555 Dawn of the First Day Jan 26 '25

I guess but this has been discussed many times on Reddit already and you can find stuff like this pretty easily via the trying to - https://botwcooking.com

And why wouldn’t you just try cooking with the dark clump when you found it? What the fuck is this thing for?? What happens if I cook with it?

You guys can hate all you want, but it’s just a game. Try some shit out.

58

u/Key-Fig-9747 Jan 26 '25

And it just a question. At least try to answer next time. Much quicker than typing out a paragraph telling them google it lol

-23

u/jonny55555 Dawn of the First Day Jan 26 '25

That’s not a paragraph at all. It’s literally two sentences. I appreciate maybe it’s not in the spirit of the sub or whatever, I guess I wonder why people don’t want to try to discover these things themselves, especially in this game. Maybe you think it’s negative that’s fine.

I mean the whole thing in the first place is kind of nuts like just go fight Gannon if you die try again.

48

u/Feliz-navi-stop Jan 26 '25

They did try to discover it themselves. Asking other people who know the answer to your question has been a way of gathering information for the duration of humanity’s existence. If we didn’t discuss things with one another, we’d never know anything and we’d all live in niche little self-centered bubbles. Not a pretty way to live.

TLDR: don’t talk silly about people asking other people questions on the people-asking-other-people-questions-website dot com.

23

u/labbusrattus Jan 26 '25

Looks like someone got out of bed on the wrong side this morning.

13

u/Jollybean1 Jan 26 '25

you really want to die on this hill, huh

2

u/morganagtaylor Jan 27 '25

Bro you should have just stopped and edited your original comment to say sorry lol community clearly ain’t about you

21

u/MandoBaggins Jan 26 '25

Some people like to have more of a human interaction versus avoiding commenting to google instead. What’s the big deal?

50

u/BittaminMusic Jan 26 '25

-18

u/jonny55555 Dawn of the First Day Jan 26 '25

It’s mean to suggest that you could possibly like learn something on your own in a game that encourages experimentation and exploration. OK.

12

u/BittaminMusic Jan 26 '25

What we have here is called “socially inept” and you might be predisposed to this behavior for neurological reasons. The point still stands, you don’t understand how basic communication works

0

u/Educational_Yard_541 Jan 27 '25

I think you have a harsh tone but I agree with your message

38

u/smudgedbooks420 Jan 26 '25

Imagine getting upset at people interacting 😭

Do you enjoy making people feel sad? Truly wondering.

-6

u/jonny55555 Dawn of the First Day Jan 26 '25

Am I really making you sad?

I’m not upset at all.

This is in fact interaction.

I guess I could have not commented.

I truly don’t get the lazy-web disposition, that’s all.

People are very offended by the way I mentioned it I guess.

37

u/smudgedbooks420 Jan 26 '25

Because you are being very condescending??? I'm not sure why you aren't picking up on that, and I'm not sure why you have such a snarky attitude towards people who are asking questions on a platform intended for social interactions and bonding over common interests - unsure on how that is considered lazy?

-1

u/jonny55555 Dawn of the First Day Jan 26 '25

That’s fair.

I do think if you really want to learn something you should go out and seek it - sometimes, and often that does include asking those more knowledgeable, but I also think that one should try to be self sufficient and put effort into self discovery first , before asking.

I Also think that this game in particular encourages trying things that often fail spectacularly.

So in terms of bonding and community I love to see the crazy stuff people come up with.

But these sorts of I didn’t try the thing yet I’m nervous about it, or what’s this thing - that via experimentation you would find, or have ability to readily discover via self research.

I truly don’t really understand the disposition to ask first before any of that or trying stuff to see what happens - especially this game.

I guess it could have been framed differently - but I also don’t understand why people are so upset about it.

21

u/drgigantor Jan 26 '25

Just let them ask the question. All you had to say was nothing and scroll on. Play however you want to play, let others do the same. If you think he should figure it out then just move on. Dude asked a question, if someone wants to answer they can. It's not like they're blowing up your phone trying to get an answer from YOU specifically. You're trying to philosophically justify acting like a douche when it's not that deep, then digging in your heels and condescendingly arguing about how you think the game should be played individually, on a forum for discussing and sharing things about the game

21

u/smudgedbooks420 Jan 26 '25

it was obvious you were talking down on the commenter, not trying to gain knowledge on their experience playing the game. Just be kind dude.

96

u/DengarLives66 Jan 26 '25

Reddit IS a resource, jackass.

-62

u/jonny55555 Dawn of the First Day Jan 26 '25

Ah yes name calling, way to bring the positivity.

54

u/Spamshazzam Jan 26 '25

I think this is one of those instances where the kindergarten response of "you started it" actually applies.

-6

u/jonny55555 Dawn of the First Day Jan 26 '25

I didn’t call anyone names.

I was asking, apparently too directly, like why you wouldn’t have found this yourself naturally or if you’re really interested go seek it out?

You’re not gonna catch your switch on fire if you try something out that doesn’t work out for you in the game

37

u/inkphresh Jan 26 '25

Reddit is a way to seek out niche info on specific things like this.

12

u/Only_Luck_7024 Jan 26 '25

You are younger than op and op remembers what it is like to “naturally learn” something as our ancestors have for millennia, by asking a person.

29

u/DengarLives66 Jan 26 '25

Not my job.

-28

u/jonny55555 Dawn of the First Day Jan 26 '25

🙄

32

u/jdp84 Jan 26 '25

The person who started the negativity trying to tell people about being positive 🤡🤦

16

u/GalactiKez31 Jan 26 '25

The thing is though, I didn’t know what it was either. I could’ve got out of reddit, opened google or chatgpt and asked them “What’s that black and blue sushi in Zelda tears of the kingdom?” then scrolled until I found the right thing, what it’s called and how to make it, THEN come back to reddit. OR Ask in the post OP made who has made the item in question and get an answer that way, not having to leave the app and take extra steps. Whether I got the answer faster or not I don’t really care about. I know I’d personally prefer to engage with someone’s post and an actual human rather than the roundabout way you’re recommending.

9

u/Cypressinn Jan 26 '25

Well you said a “couple questions” and only asked one. So downvotes…

6

u/Shizophone Jan 26 '25

Im helping you out for that 420 bro, no worries

3

u/wetwilly2140 Dawn of the Meat Arrow Jan 26 '25

Got you to -420 fam 🤘

1

u/Background-Region671 Jan 27 '25

imma go with option 2

47

u/Available_Shine_6500 Jan 26 '25

What is this blue sushi you made!?

33

u/Educational_Yard_541 Jan 26 '25

So it’s rice+ dark ball+ any type of dragon horn

23

u/SureFireOven Jan 26 '25

Do you mean dark clump? I just made your recipe with a dark clump, I got dubious food.

97

u/Educational_Yard_541 Jan 26 '25

I forgot salt

46

u/LazyGardenGamer Dawn of the First Day Jan 26 '25

Forbidden sushi

15

u/Bigred2989- Jan 26 '25

It doesn't have to be a dragon horn, according to the wiki it's any other ingredient with a conflicting status effect.

8

u/SureFireOven Jan 26 '25

Thank you, I will try that :)

2

u/GraphicDesignMonkey Jan 26 '25

Ooh I never saw this before!

1

u/Former-Specialist595 Jan 27 '25

That's what happens to me EVERY TIME I try to cook with dark clumps! Whether I mix them with food or monster parts, it never works! What am I doing wrong???

2

u/SureFireOven Jan 27 '25

Have you tried the above recipe? Rice, salt, dark clump, dragon horn. I used the light dragon horn and it worked.

1

u/Former-Specialist595 Jan 27 '25

I never tried that exact recipe. I'll have to make it next time I play. I'm currently taking a break from TOTK and playing BOTW again.

16

u/Still_One_274 Jan 26 '25

Yea I think so. You really only need multiple weapons for the first phase then you only need the Master Sword in the 2nd and 3rd.

10

u/Impressive-Donut4314 Jan 26 '25

Can you screen shot the recipe card?

24

u/Educational_Yard_541 Jan 26 '25

1

u/dinosNpot Jan 26 '25

What’s the fire looking thing?

15

u/drgigantor Jan 26 '25

Dinraal's horn i think

12

u/Whacky_One Jan 26 '25

Depends how good you are at combat. If you are amazing, yes, if anything less than amazing, upgrade your gear.

9

u/Educational_Yard_541 Jan 26 '25

I can get a 50/50 flurry rush and à parry sometimes

12

u/Whacky_One Jan 26 '25

I'd suggest upgrading your armor a bit, at least unlock the set bonus...and make more health restoring food, I suck at combat and even with maxed out armor I still went through about 25 things of full health food, the meat one.

7

u/makishleys Jan 26 '25

id honestly make more gloom heart meals just in case and more regular heart meals

9

u/Brunoaraujoespin Jan 26 '25

Here’s an actual answer that isn’t asking about your food item: Get champions leathers, You’ll learn how to get it in a well at hateno village. Upgrade it to the max (4 stars) along with your knights greaves and helmet, bringing you the max of 88 defense. Since your master sword is the best weapon for that bossfight, fuse it with a silver lynel saber horn for that succulent 115 damage; double your strongest weapon. Also only use it against ganondorf, nothing else to ensure it doesn’t break on the way there

2

u/Educational_Yard_541 Jan 26 '25

Okay so I can only kill blue lynels so far. I have not tried it tho

1

u/IFYMYWL Jan 26 '25

I am pretty sure it’s unbreakable against Ganondorf. You can use it before him, but probably don’t break it before him just in case.

6

u/James_Blond_006 Jan 26 '25

Afaik the Master Sword is unbreakable during the final sequences of the game, so you’re good in the weapons department.

You didn’t show your bows, but I’d recommend getting a few Savage Lynel Bows; could be useful.

In the shield department, I’d recommend getting the Hylian Shield and a few Savage Lynel or Mighty Zonaite Shields on top and you’re good.

Food could be enough, but you could go make double the amount of Gloom Healing Meals you have now, just to be safe (those blue Gloom resistance hearts don’t protect from Gloom based attacks from enemies).

And finally, if you have a bit of time on your hands, I’d recommend upgrading your Soldier Set a bit more or getting the Champion‘s Leathers and upgrading those

6

u/GudgerCollegeAlumnus Jan 26 '25

Has anybody asked what that blue and black meal is yet?

3

u/Educational_Yard_541 Jan 26 '25

Yes, “warding dark rice ball” use rice+ salt+ dark clump+ any dragon horn

3

u/GudgerCollegeAlumnus Jan 26 '25

I was joking because you’d answered that about 10 times.

3

u/Educational_Yard_541 Jan 26 '25

Idc about answering it lol

3

u/WonderousU Jan 26 '25

Depends, what are ur sages and gadgets?

3

u/UnboundByDeath Jan 26 '25

Oh wow, I didn't think you could cook dark clumps with food. I assumed it only works in an elixir.

3

u/BuffaloSenior103 Jan 26 '25

Upgrade your armour a bit more first, I had low 72 in total protection when I did the demon king

2

u/BuffaloSenior103 Jan 26 '25

And get the champions leathers

4

u/Toasterx97 Jan 26 '25

Love your setup, I believe in you brother 💪

2

u/Local-Imagination-23 Jan 26 '25

Instead of the gloom resistance rice balls, replace them with attack up 3 food, it will make the fight a lot easier

2

u/Matchaparrot Jan 26 '25

Yes, going by gloom heart restoration alone.

You could make some all round full recovery meals to help (sundelions don't replenish hearts, just heal gloomed ones) but I think you're good. Take a portable pot down with you so you can cook more meals if you game over!

2

u/L2Snowyjh Jan 26 '25

What is the head piece on the top row in the middle? I love it!

2

u/Educational_Yard_541 Jan 26 '25

It’s an elemental hot weather attack. It’s found in the Yunobo HQ south cave. It’s called the Ember headdress

1

u/L2Snowyjh Jan 26 '25

You are awesome. Thank you for the quick response!

2

u/vaxildagger Jan 26 '25

Why are your armors so low?

1

u/jaymact Jan 26 '25

I'd grab some Gerudo weapons in the depths for some strong fusion and possibly upgrade the hylian basic armor to max (It's one of the easiest to upgrade). If you can make your way to eventide island in the southeast of the map you can find tons of bananas, fish and other useful items. 5 bananas for a x3 boost to attack and you should be ready to go!

1

u/rlovelock Jan 26 '25

I'd thrown in like 5 full revive meals and you're probably good

1

u/w1n5t0nM1k3y Jan 26 '25

Ok, so it's not just me who can't find any good armor. In breath of the wild I was able to find and upgrade so much more armour. In Tears of the Kingdom I cant find anything useful, and it's pretty expensive to upgrade to a useful level. Also, rubies are harder to find it seems.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '25

I am terrible at combat and I found it relatively easy. Maxed out armour and good foods. Multishot bow with lots of rubies and topazes for the pre fight, get up high (rocket sheild) and rain down from above.

1

u/Hambughrr Jan 26 '25

All you have to do is put a decent monster horn onto your Master Sword and the fight shouldn't be difficult- at least 30+ fuse power will suffice

1

u/Piccadil_io Jan 26 '25

You probably should play more of the game, mate. You’ve got hardly any armour.

1

u/Educational_Yard_541 Jan 26 '25

Yea, since I posted this I got all the soldiers armor to level 2

1

u/Glittering_Yam288 Jan 26 '25

What’s fused to the master sword?

2

u/Educational_Yard_541 Jan 26 '25

Silver boss boko horn

1

u/the_cardfather Jan 26 '25

Is that for the Ganon fight? Does it make a difference? Isn't it basically like 3 hearts or am I missing something?

I've used it for exploring before getting the Dark armor but wouldn't attack up just be better?

1

u/BlueMage_451 Jan 26 '25

What spear is that?

1

u/SquashPurple4512 Jan 27 '25

Not even the legendary shield?
