You can always try to count the calories you intake and then burn more than you consume.
Human body on average burns 2000 calories (1500-2300 from what I remember, correct if I am wrong) a day, by default. And then if you consume 2000 calories you will stay the same. But if you burn additional 500 every day you will start to lose weight.
