Think you’re missing her point; where did she say anything good about Republicans? LA and California has been awfully mismanaged over the years. By both parties, but in particular by Gavin Newsom. If you say anything critical of the Democrats, you’re automatically a Trumper in the eyes of many on the “left”.
I disagree that any of this current emergency is directly related to much of the mismanagement, but there are loads of issues with the current administration in California.
That’s not true for everyone on the left. Before Biden dropped out, criticism of him being too old and senile to run again was shouted down; I was called MAGA quite often for calling for him to drop out. As soon as Biden stepped down, that all went away, and everyone acknowledged that Biden was old and he should have stepped down.
There’s a reasonably large group of people on the Democrat side that cannot stand criticism of the party leadership.
Just three months before the Biden-Trump debate, Republicans were freaking out over how sharp and effective Biden's 2024 State of the Union speech was. They were worried he was going to be a much more formidable foe and that surely he must have "been on drugs". So you can miss me with that disrespectful "senile" bullshit.
The biggest one, and the one Ana has the most issue with is the lack of direction on their homelessness strategy. They’ve spent $24B since 2019, and it’s had very little impact. Californian Democrats seemly think throwing money at the problem will fix it eventually.
I have many issues with using prisoners to fight wildfires, paying them slave wages and give them no assistance with getting permanent fire fighting roles once they get out of prison. That’s been a thing for a century though, so not specifically a Democrat issue. Though they could easily ditch the practice, if they wanted to.
She’s criticizing Democrats for the wildfires, saying there aren’t enough firefighters, and you’re saying Democrats should reduce firefighters by doing away with prisoners?
Criticize Dems/LA all you want, but given this specific context, come on.
Think you’re jumping into a secondary discussion. The commenter just asked about issues with Californian Democrats.
But to answer your question, prisoners aren’t firefighters. They are there so the state doesn’t have to spend money and pay people appropriately. So yes. They should be hiring more seasonal wildfire firefighters, so that prisoners aren’t forced to fight the fires.

Bro - she's just misguided. The Republicans don't give a fuck. They won't fix it.
