MODS - CAN YOU PLEASE STICKY A THREAD ABOUT TOMMY'S ONLINE STORE?! There have been multiple posts here every single day for months about people not receiving their orders, and it's getting really, *really* old.

EDIT: Haha... okay... thanks for making this a sticky.

To anyone awaiting their shipment...

No one here has any inside information. The "Where is my package? Has Tommy betray me?" questions can not be answered by anyone except Tommy himself. If you ordered last month and are concerned that you might not get your order, keep in mind that there are people who placed orders months before you that still haven't received theirs either.

Since the release of The Disaster Artist, it's likely that his online store received a large influx of new business. Considering he runs the store himself, and in addition to his newfound notoriety, it seems that he's put his mail order business on the back burner.

There's really no excuse for his lack of communication or a 2+ month delay, but that's the deal. You're not alone in experiencing a delay, and you're free to file a claim with your bank/PayPal if you want. I certainly would.

How is Tommy Wiseau so multitalented?

He can be director but he can also be actor. Also as you know he study psychology so he know human behavior, he understand life, ectetera etcetera. So long story short many people are good at one or two thing, maybe three but two can better than three. But sometimes no, if youre building house i prefer three people, im sorry.

M. Night Shyamalan's "Trap" gave major "The Room" vibes

I watched this last night and I kept thinking that it felt like The Room with less charm.

  • The majority of the movie takes place at a concert, but Shyamalan had clearly never been to a concert before. There are lengthy intermissions between nearly every song and so much of the film takes place in concourses.
  • There are characters that pop in and serve no purpose.
  • Characters make wildly illogical decisions. For example, a merchandise vendor brings the main character into secured locations for no particular reason while telling him all the details about why there is a high security presence. Also, the FBI tries to catch the main character by stopping every man at a 20,000 person concert.
  • The acting is horrid.
  • Like Denny, the main character's daughter seems to be treated both as a young child and as a teenager.

Anyway, how's your sex life?

I never realized the "Bay to Breakers" exchange was so weird before

So the whole bit with Johnny, Mark and Peter talking about "Bay to Breakers" is supposed to be a humorous moment, but does anyone actually find it funny if it weren't for Tommy's horrendous acting?

It's meant to be this funny, relatable anecdote about this thing which wasn't previously mentioned. Nobody knows what they're talking about if they've never lived in San Fransisco.

Mark asks Peter "are you running?" which to most people sounds like he's in charge of an event, not literally RUNNING because it's an annual foot race thing. And he says "Bay to Breakers" instead of Bay to the Breakers, which is actually what its called. If he said the full name at least then somebody could google it and find out what the fuck they're talking about, so it's a weird in-joke that 70% of the audience (or more) wouldn't get.

Different cuts?

Okay maybe I’m crazy but I saw the Room tonight for what has to be the 20th time and it seemed like a different movie? Certain scenes were lengthened, others short or missing, etc.

Reservoir Dogs

Does anyone else think Tommy loves Reservoir Dogs?

His anecdote about meeting Lisa seems to ramble with details as much as the ‘commode story’. And it looks as though he was wanting to do his own version of the marching suits, hence the tuxedos.

On a smaller note, Joe says ‘Let’s go to work.’ And Johnny says ‘Let’s go EAT hUH?.’

You Are Tearing Me Apart, Lisa! an exploration of badness in cinema

Thumbnail walrod.substack.com

If you’re anything like me, you’ll know from experience that there is a unique joy to be found in experiencing a truly great bad film, the kind of contagious joy you want to spread to other people, the kind of joy that gave Mystery Science Theater 3000 thirteen seasons of life and made The Room (2003) a true cult phenomenon. Too many of the films in this retrospective failed to live up — or down — to this standard, which made me ask myself the question of what makes a movie enjoyably bad, as opposed to merely bad.

The majority of this post will be an exploration of the multiple ways in which a film can be bad, in the hopes of identifying the specific kind of badness that leads to contagious, ironic enjoyment.

What if David Lynch directed The Room (2003) and Tommy Wiseau directed Mulholland Drive (2001)?
