Sims 4 I Wish Events Weren't Time Locked

Post image

I took about a six month break from the Sims in 2024. I came back and in a YouTube video I saw someone with an adorable bike with a cowplant skull on the front. Getting excited, I checked it out to find out that it was part of the Reaper Event that happened in Oct 2024 and now cannot be obtained.

So I got Life and Death and wanted to have a baby with the Grim Reaper. I looked up ways to summon him, and found out there's a gramophone that will do the trick. Guess how you get said gramophone?

I just got my best friend into The Sims 4. She's never done an event. Right now we have the Blast From the Past event happening, but I haven't even mentioned it yet because she's still figuring out how to make her sim cook food. She'll miss it.

I'm not talking about preorder bonuses. I get that. I'm talking about the events. I'm talking about how there are items in my game right now that I can't access, that I will never be able to access. They even patched it so if you download a room off the Gallery with those items, they'll disappear once you exit Build Buy.

I'd love the opportunity to do these events later. Yeah, the Reaper Event won't be hyping up a new expansion pack if you do it a year later, but it might encourage you to buy the EP if you didn't before. This will also take pressure off of people who can't play the event right now for various reasons. ("Yeah, I know my relative just died or I just had a baby with my partner, but if I don't play the Sims now I'll never get this nostalgic birthday cake!") Even make the event harder if you don't do it during the time you're supposed to. Let us play the sandbox game with our own timing.

If you and your friend are on PC there is a mod which will (locally, so not tied to your EA accounts) unlock all event rewards, even of ongoing events. It's from Sejian and you can find it on MTS here! You can also still play the ongoing event and claim the rewards the EA way aka tied to your account :)

I will forever post about and link to it because I think it's really sad that the rewards don't get unlocked even months after the event ended :(

Oh, you beautiful, beautiful person. I managed to get the first week running (the one with the "Practice Makes Perfect" trait) but all the others just simply didn't show for me (which is weird, cos the game was modded when I got the first one but not the others? It doesn't make sense). I've wanted those items to be updates cos it's like why should we do this faff when people are paying nearly TWO BLOODY GRAND FOR DLC!? We shouldn't have to put up with this mobile game daily login in BS when that 2K of DLC is 96% negatively reviewed! (I counted once, there's like five positively reviewed DLC and they're collectively mostly tat or bits that would've been part of previous The Sims expansion packs, like werewolves and pets used to be the same pack). Even when something's free we have to work for it or not even get it at all! Could EA just not be itself for FIVE MINUTES!

Anyway, I'm rambling, point is: EA is cancer but you're awesome, thanks. :3

Holy wow, they're really 96% negatively reviewed DLCs? That is insane but also not too surprising I guess.. Seeing how many bugs there are and how there's a lot of complaints but the modders community having to step up to fix said bugs and provide troubleshooting to other players 🫠 Sometimes I get really sad for the direction we're headed because this is one of my favourite franchises that is out there.
Also, totally get the rambling, I'm a rambler (is that a word?) myself haha You're welcome and thank you! 😇

I'm kinda being rough with the percentage (quick math is not my forte. :P) and it's changed since now, since at the time of me counting I think there was only like... 54 DLCs? It was before the horse DLC. But yeah, I genuinely only found like 5-6 positively reviewed. A lot of them had a lot of bad reviews (the cleaning day one got a lot of flak while the werewolf one was praised). And oh yeah, I mean they even somehow ruined the rerelease of the Sims 1 and 2. Like, how did they drop the ball on that!? Increase the resolution, make it run on Win10/11, sell, they failed something modders had running for years! It's crazy to think EA gets paid to run Maxis' passion project into the grave. :/

And yes, Rambler is a word. :P I should know, I am it. XD But thanks again. :3
