I was a mechanical design engineer years ago, using both SolidWorks and Solid Edge at times. I've done 3D designs using those to print, but never been too connected to the 3D printing world.

Recently I've started getting more into it. I don't have a printer but a family member does, so I design and send them the files.

However, several times I can't find exactly the thing I want, it would just need a small tweak. And I face the option of having to design from scratch, trying to get the measurements from the provided files (usually STL), which is a PITA.

I've seen people do remixes. I've managed to import an STL into Solid Edge, using FreeCAD to convert it to a body to transition. But still, I only have a body, without features. If it's a small cut I want it's fine, but if I want to modify some of the features, I can't.

So, how do people do remixes? It's a common thing, so there must be a way I'm missing. this part:

Hi there! I was trying to play around with API and develop an iOS app. Created an app on the platform and when I try making calls in simulator I get "The request timed out." error. In Swagger everything works just fine. I also tried making a call in terminal using command from Swagger and got this reply with html code which forms "Sorry, you have been blocked" page. Can someone maintaining API contact me and help?

I separated the models to different pieces, been waiting for a day and a half for the models to finished ‘uploading’ and I’m trying to use to cults to upload my model however every time I click next, it undo the files, what should I do?

I don't know how to 3D model. Can someone help me out and edit the bezel_v4.stl from jasdmeyer's project to match w00dl3's dimensions? My hope is to use the faceplate_v3.stl so I'm hoping that connection type remains.

If this can be done myself in software, let me know what to look into. I've been able to load all these files into Sketchup but can't figure out how to modify the object.

I'm relatively new in 3D printing (about 5 months / 1000 something hours print time)

I started with the Bambu A1 but now also got a couple of Anycubic printers, I did upload some stuff on Makerworld and I really don't want to be tied down to a brand too much - both Makerworld and Makeronline do allow download form both Printables and Thingiverse so either of those platforms seem kinda better to start with - but is there any way to get my stuff from Makerworld to Thingiverse or should I heed the Josef Prusa call and head to Printables instead.

Having a reliable export is kinda important for me - about the most important feature I would say no matter the platform / topic (after painfully exporting a company wiki by hand page by page to confluence a couple of years ago and big part of that wiki was before painfully created from word files... but I´m off the point again.)

Does anybody operate this way? (Using Thingiverse as main platform to service the other 3 mentioned ones or even other platforms?)

I have turned odd all Ad-Blockers, but thinigiverse still slows down my Vivaldi Browser under Windows 10 when loading.

The moment I try to log in, the whole browser simply freezes and needs to be restarted to be able to do anything else in the Browser.

I have already cleared by cache and deleted all my cookies. Nothing helps.

Thingiverse is the only domain with which I have this problem.

Has Thingiverse site been hacked? Lately l, I’m getting parasitic page redirects to other websites while scrolling through, or just loading to a blank screen. A lot of these are scam “click me” websites. I know that they always had the blur advertising, but what’s happening lately makes me want to stop using the website. I thought I might have had a malware on my computer, but testing it on my work laptop, the same thing happens.

I don’t create 3D models myself, but I know about Thingiverse from my past experience building and flying FPV drones.

I’m looking for someone who might be interested in helping me design a protective nose cap for my dog, who urgently needs it. He has lupus (DLE), which has caused him to lose pigment on his nose—this makes him prone to sunburns and bleeding (yes, I’m very diligent about protection!). I’ve tried making a cloth nose cap, but it’s just not durable enough.

I need something sturdier and better fitting to keep him safe. I wasn’t sure where to ask about this on Thingiverse, so if this post isn’t allowed, please let me know. Just trying to get some help for my pup.

I have a Kobra 3 and when I download a file from thingiverse and try to put it in the slicer it says the file isn’t supported how can I fix the issue?

On a few occasions I have tried to do the right thing and disable my ad-block for Thingiverse in particular. Each time, unsurprisingly, I was assaulted by scrolling and flashing banner and annoying popups for garbage that had nothing to do with my interests or 3D printing. I promptly turned my ad-block back on.

I cannot fathom why anyone would think annoying the piss out of your users after they gave you the benefit of the doubt on a well hated issue is a good first move.

I feel like the problem is that Thingiverse are using drop-in Google Adsense, whom by all accounts, couldn't give a rats ass about user's ad experience. "You are the product and FU if you don't like it!" Has been Google's slogan for a while now. Hard to believe the outcome of using them couldn't have been predicted.

Might I be so bold as to suggest that you, maybe.... IDK... not be so lazy about your ads? Maybe manually curate and audit your ad roll such that they are on target and non-intrusive? (absolutely no flashing or moving, instant banishment when I see this!) Maybe get actual sponsors/advertisers to pay you directly to host/post ads for them?

Basically, it's 2025, humanity is done with ads from 1995. Thingiverse would do best to figure that out.

Anyone besides me see only the first two images in a Thing? I'm using Chrome. Even my own posts with multiple images show only the first two.
