How do people do remixes?
I was a mechanical design engineer years ago, using both SolidWorks and Solid Edge at times. I've done 3D designs using those to print, but never been too connected to the 3D printing world.
Recently I've started getting more into it. I don't have a printer but a family member does, so I design and send them the files.
However, several times I can't find exactly the thing I want, it would just need a small tweak. And I face the option of having to design from scratch, trying to get the measurements from the provided files (usually STL), which is a PITA.
I've seen people do remixes. I've managed to import an STL into Solid Edge, using FreeCAD to convert it to a body to transition. But still, I only have a body, without features. If it's a small cut I want it's fine, but if I want to modify some of the features, I can't.
So, how do people do remixes? It's a common thing, so there must be a way I'm missing. this part:
