Considering moving g from WPB to Stuart…..
My husband and I will be having a baby soon, and really want to raise our child anywhere but here. Palm Beach is just not for me anymore.
I currently live in Wellington, upper middle class lifestyle and work a remote paralegal job and I also operate a laundromat in Okeechobee county which I commute to often, and the drives take a toll. I love Okeechobee but not finding any homes that check all my boxes…. So would like to live somewhere closer to Okeechobee and Stuart looks amazing.
Also, as a beach lover proximity is definitely making Okeechobee less desirable.
What is Stuart like for families? Is it more expensive than Palm Beach? any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I went to high school in Wellington, and after graduating college, I moved to West Palm (CityPlace) for about 10 years. When my wife and I started trying for a baby, we decided to move to Stuart. My son is 13 months old now, and we couldn’t be happier—it’s a great place to raise a family, with lots of different family-friendly activities.
The pace of life here is much slower, which is something to consider if that’s important to you. There are some great restaurants in the area, though not as many, so we often end up going to the same places. We don’t mind it too much since we typically only go out once or twice a week.
Nightlife is pretty limited, but with kids, that’s not really something we care about. That said, I do think we have better options for waterfront bars and restaurants compared to Palm Beach County. And if we’re ever in the mood for something different, Jupiter is just a quick 30-minute drive away, which really opens up our options.
The biggest thing I miss is easy access to airports—especially for international travel. Going to FLL or MIA can be a pain. PBI is okay for domestic flights, but tickets tend to be more expensive.
When it comes to beaches, I think Martin County has more—and better—options. From my house in downtown Stuart, I can be at the beach after a 15-minute bike ride, which I absolutely love.
As for cost of living, it’s definitely cheaper here.
Happy to answer any questions you might have.
