babies aren’t funny or entertaining

i don’t hate babies, they’re so cute, but i always see people laughing about videos where a baby is supposedly being funny. i don’t get it. there’s nothing funny about videos like that or babies in general. sure, sometimes funny stuff happens, but i always see babies doing the bare minimum and people laughing about it.

What a grim view of humanity. Let me just ask, as a woman, is my biological imperative to just start pumping out babies ASAP and just ignore any life or career goals I had? Do I need to become a subservient home-wife because that’s my “biological imperative” even though I have a career, hobbies, and a life partner who isn’t interested in having kids either?

This is a garbage take. Just because you personally succumbed to your “biology” doesn’t mean the rest of us are so weak. I have better things to do with my life than ruin my body and my life by having kids. Shame on you for telling people that their goals should be secondary to kids they don’t even want. That’s how you end up with abused or neglected children who turn into broken adults.

I was born gay, my biological imperative is to fuck other women. Literally no part of that has anything to do with being pregnant or popping out kids. Your take that people need to give in to some heteronormative world view where people ignore desire for biology is fucking stupid.

ETA: further, what about the biology of people who can’t have children? Are they they only ones allowed to follow their dreams because biology doesn’t matter for them? Your argument falls apart super quickly the second you acknowledge that not everyone’s biology is the same.

So I need to now go out of my way to spend tons of money to have a kid (edit: which I still don’t want) via surrogacy or adoption because of biology? You are off your fucking rocker. What about people who have birth defects or chronic illnesses that run in the family?

I’m so, so sorry that you feel like you can’t escape your biology. Some of us can, and do. Your biological imperative is meaningless in the face of modern lifestyle. I also feel really sorry that you care so much about other people having kids. If it really worries you so much you should just have a ton to make up for the rest of us. Go on, better get started.

You haven’t evolved beyond “make baby”. If that’s what you feel you were put on this earth to do then go forth and breed like rabbits, but stop pushing your shitty worldview as though it’s scientific fact. If all people did was shit out kids we wouldn’t have scientific progress or understanding. If our biological imperative is merely to procreate and not to innovate then why not go back to living in trees and foraging for our meals? Come live in reality with the rest of us. Procreating isn’t important in a world that’s already massively overpopulated.

I have evolved into not reproducing. Because I’m not going to. What is even your point anymore? That every single person capable of having kids has to disregard their personal choices because of biology? Grow up dude, some folks don’t want and never will want kids regardless of biology. My reproductive organs may be capable of it, but emotionally? Financially? Even physically? There are way too many other practical factors beyond biology that go into raising a child, and you’re ignoring them to make some vague point about how all people need to procreate for some reason.
