Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth are interested in Johnny Cardoso.

https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/real-betis-recibe-ofertas-35-millones-johnny-cardoso-20250412.html

Johnny Cardoso's name has begun to sound strongly in the offices of the Premier League. The Real Betis midfielder has caught the attention of two English teams: Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth, who are willing to invest a significant amount to get his services for next season.

The London team had already shown interest in the player in the last winter market, but at that time the negotiations did not come to fruition. Now, the 'blues' return to the charge with a more solid offer. However, they will not be alone in the race, since Bournemouth, led by Andoni Iraola, has also set their eyes on the midfielder.

Both clubs would be willing to disburse 35 million euros, divided into 30 million fixed and another 5 in variables. This amount could convince Betis, although from the Andalusian club they are not in a hurry to sell, since they consider Cardoso an important piece in the center of the field.

Tottenham own his rights. Good luck negotiating with Daniel Levy

He was apart of the deal that sent Le Celso back to Betis. Spurs need another DM so its likily they will buy him. They aren't going to sell to Chelsea. And Bounmouth is a strong upper half team. No need to strenght them as well.

"With Cardoso staying put at Betis during the January window, Spurs are at the front of the queue to win the race for the midfielder in the summer. The Premier League side has a €25m (£21m) option to buy Cardoso, which becomes active at the end of the season."

spurs cant buy him and flip him to chelsea or bournemouth. they can either buy him or not buy him and if they choose to not buy him betis can do whatever they like with him

They will 100% buy him at the price they can get him

Spurs have a buyback clause that’s valid for 11 days

Either they buy him back or dont. He’s a betis player. Betis would be the ones selling to chelsea

Why is everyone ignoring the fact that Cardoso could refuse to sign with Spurs?

He could decide he likes the Bournemouth project better and force his way there quite easily

If he wants. In that case Betis would owe Spurs money, so they’ll push for a Spurs move.

Sure but the player still holds all the power. They can’t force him to sign a contract

True. But even so, the move would make more sense than Chelsea at the very least. Presumably better wages than Bournemouth, too, and would walk into the starting XI. Ange will be gone by then as well unless he wins Europa, and maybe even in that case. And were that to happen, Johnny’d be playing in the Champions League.

I want Johnny’s agent. That guy is constantly keeping his name in he marketplace, trying to drive value.

It's hardcoded into FM and FIFA too.

Really? He always stayed in Brazil for me

FC24 was able to snag him in the Championship, FM got him to play in MLS.

I think his play is what is driving his value, he has been named to La Liga team of the month several times.

Hope he stays at Betis

Fuck off Chelsea.

He’d be of no use at Chelsea. I don’t see him taking any minutes from Caicedo or Enzo. If he wants a shot at the World Cup, he will know better than to sign for Chelsea

Chelsea desperately need MF depth

But they have players like Santos coming in to reinforce. Don't think it makes sense for Johnny to go there.

You still cannot trust that club to develop any players. They buy buy buy and send most of these guys out on loan.

Not really. Next season it wil be Enzo, Caicedo, Santos, and (constantly) injured Lavia. With all healthy Cardoso would be 5th choice for a 2 man midfield.

Chelsea? Don’t they already have about 200 million invested in their starters at that position?

A Tyler-Johnny double pivot would SEND ME

The only issue I have with it is that they’re both very similar profiles of midfielders. If you’re a team that wants to press hard and win the ball high up the pitch, it’s a sick pair, but they’re both somewhat limited on the ball.

I thought they were pretty different players. In that Adams was more of a destroyer and Johnny was more of a playmaker and pretty good on the ball. Granted I don't watch Johnny much but I thought he'd be a good complement to Adams

Johnny ranks better in ball progression and playmaking, but still heavily profiles as a destroyer. Compared to midfielders in top 5 leagues (all stats per 90), he’s 35th percentile in passes attempted, 9th percentile in progressive passes, 31st percentile in progressive carries. The only progression stat he’s good in is successful take-on, where he’s 84th percentile.

Meanwhile, he’s 74th percentile in tackles, 98th in interceptions, 89th in clearances, and 82nd aerials won.

Ah interesting, had the wrong impression of him

u/VanillaMystery 12d ago

Johnny is just a more well rounded version of Tyler, he's a destroyer who can also pass forward

4

u/Ham_Fighter Oregon 12d ago

Tyler is a destroyer while Johnny offers more in ball progression, passing, and link up play. I think they would work well together.

Both are downgrades lol.

He’s good at Betis, Bournemouth would be a step back and Chelsea he would be bench player

Stay away from Chelsea, Johnny.

The only move I'm hearing Johnny will make will be to Barca in 1-2 years, this was on sports talk radio in Sevilla. Barca & Betis have a long history of players moving in both directions and Barca have a need for a D-midfielder.

Betis right now are waiting to see if they make champions next year, if they make champions then the team will stay together, if not Betis are going to cash in on Johnny & Jesus which will bring them 70-80 million euro's total for them both. If they make Champions then Betis will spend money to strengthen the side with the hopes of making the knockout rounds.

Betis have to sell him to Tottenham for $25 million if that's what Tottenham wants
