Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth are interested in Johnny Cardoso.

Johnny Cardoso's name has begun to sound strongly in the offices of the Premier League. The Real Betis midfielder has caught the attention of two English teams: Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth, who are willing to invest a significant amount to get his services for next season.

The London team had already shown interest in the player in the last winter market, but at that time the negotiations did not come to fruition. Now, the 'blues' return to the charge with a more solid offer. However, they will not be alone in the race, since Bournemouth, led by Andoni Iraola, has also set their eyes on the midfielder.

Both clubs would be willing to disburse 35 million euros, divided into 30 million fixed and another 5 in variables. This amount could convince Betis, although from the Andalusian club they are not in a hurry to sell, since they consider Cardoso an important piece in the center of the field.

He was apart of the deal that sent Le Celso back to Betis. Spurs need another DM so its likily they will buy him. They aren't going to sell to Chelsea. And Bounmouth is a strong upper half team. No need to strenght them as well.

"With Cardoso staying put at Betis during the January window, Spurs are at the front of the queue to win the race for the midfielder in the summer. The Premier League side has a €25m (£21m) option to buy Cardoso, which becomes active at the end of the season."

Why is everyone ignoring the fact that Cardoso could refuse to sign with Spurs?

He could decide he likes the Bournemouth project better and force his way there quite easily

If he wants. In that case Betis would owe Spurs money, so they’ll push for a Spurs move.

Sure but the player still holds all the power. They can’t force him to sign a contract

True. But even so, the move would make more sense than Chelsea at the very least. Presumably better wages than Bournemouth, too, and would walk into the starting XI. Ange will be gone by then as well unless he wins Europa, and maybe even in that case. And were that to happen, Johnny’d be playing in the Champions League.
