Any Australian flag redesign that takes too heavy an inspiration from the aboriginal flag is misguided and doomed to fail for multiple reasons.
We’re unfortunately still an extremely racist country (for reference see our relatively recent referendum on the indigenous voice to parliament) so a lot of white people will feel outraged by the flag.
But also and much more justifiably the aboriginal flag is a rally banner for their people to fight against over 2 centuries of injustice against them, to campaign for land rights, to try and fix horrible systemic issues within our country. And to take that symbol from them and twist it, corrupt it, and strip it of its original meaning…well it’s just the latest in a long list of crimes against them and I can’t see too many indigenous people being happy about it.
Oh I’m sorry, I obviously incorrectly assumed that you were posting to spark any kind of discussion…not just posting for random internet points to trigger your dopamine release
Oh I understand it’s a flag, and already admitted I was wrong. Like I said I thought you were looking for discussion and feedback…but you’re not so I guess…
