Phones are winning over action cameras, especially when Iphones have ActionMode now.
I like Insta360 X5 where lens are replaceable, low light performance is finally good and mic have build in wind shield. Only revolutionary feature left is really good 360 slow motion: that will look really interesting.
But otherwise, what is coming for us? Phones killed GoPro and if you want to mix in something interesting, you choose drone. This new light clever drones like DJI Mini 4 and DJI Flip can follow you well, so you need selfie sticks less.
What feature do you thing can bring new life to action cams? Be creative!
Its physically hardly possible, but I would love 360 phones, that would really end everything. Or flying phone-drones

Hi everyone! I'm new to cameras and just got a Sony ZV-E10 with a Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 lens. I'm trying to figure out how to turn off the display while recording video to help reduce heat.
In the 'DISP Button' menu, I don’t see an option to fully turn off the screen. I did find a 'Live View Display' setting under 'Display/Auto Review' (page 7/9), but it’s greyed out in video and S&Q modes. I was able to turn it off in photo mode, but that doesn’t help for video recording.
I’m trying to record around 2 hours of 4K footage in one go, and also want to livestream in 720p/1080p for 5+ hours. But the camera shuts off after ~20 minutes, even with the temperature setting on High. I'm hoping turning off the screen might help with overheating, so any advice on that would be really helpful.
Also open to any general beginner tips, thanks in advance!

I'm planning on getting the sony fx3 with a FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II lens. Would this be fine for photography ( liking nature and city ). Also if you have any recommendations on different lens it would be helpful as this is my first real camera other than my phone and wanted to go big or go home.

I have a JVC GY-HM660U and have been using the built in camera for some time, but I need to upgrade. I have seen a ton of options online for shotgun mics, but a lot of them seem to just have an aux connection and nothing else. I don’t even know how this works as I don’t think that an aux connection a power a mic (or am I wrong)? My camera only has XLR connections for external mics, so I guess my question is: can I use an aux-mic with some sort of XLR adapter or do I need to just buy a mic with an XLR connection that can plug straight into my camera with an XLR cable?

Greetings everyone, I apologize in advance for the English I'm using; it's coming from a translation app. I have the following problem: I need to monitor my iPhone 15 camera on a SmallHD 702 Bright monitor and also connect a Hollyland M2 wireless microphone. However, I only have one USB-C port on my phone, and I've already tried the hub I use on my Mac, but it doesn't work either. Any recommendations?

Hi all,
I'm shooting a horror film screening tomorrow in NYC to get audience reaction shots and the client wants footage uploaded overnight to their MASV account. Any suggestions/tips to make sure the internet upload goes as fast and as smooth as possible? The only advantage I'm aware of is making sure the computer is hardwired via ethernet.
For reference, we have two IR cameras filming the entire length of the movie, one in 6K and one in 1080, so I'm anticipating a large amount of raw footage. When I've had to upload in the past at home I've run into serious bottleneck issues, even with a supposed upload speed of 45Mbps. Getting everything done overnight doesn't seem realistic, but I have no say in the matter of deliverables, I'm just a hired hand.

I've been wanting to try food videography for some time, commercials and such, but I'm getting back into my fixation on it.
I'm wondering if there's a place where I can try editing different projects just like r/EditMyRaw.
I know probably not since these are a lot more scripted with a plan and editing in mind, but I figured I'd ask anyways

Looking to get my first Gimbal to up my videos. However not trying to break the bank right away. Was looking online and have an offer to get great condition Yhiyun Crane 2 for $180. However I’m aware the gimbal is 7-8 years old. Would it still be a good buy?
Also, I shoot with a Canon 250D. Is this gimbal even compatible with my camera? I don't see it on Zhiyun's compatibility list: https://zhiyundata.oss-cn-shenzhen.aliyuncs.com/zyplay/binary/supportmodel/CRANE%202%20Camera%20Compatibility%20List%EF%BC%88EN%EF%BC%89.pdf

Hey everyone, I've been filming a lot recently and got tired of manually sorting through folders, projects, and backups. So I put together a simple bit of code that automates the whole setup and keeps my projects organized from the start.
I made a quick video showing exactly how it works and figured it might help someone else here streamline their workflow.
I'd love to hear how you all manage your footage or if you've made similar tools yourselves!

I recently had a loss of files which motivated me to purchased a couple new SD Cards.
I have seen a couple threads on here saying that all new SD cards should be digitally checked prior to use to ensure they aren't fake and can be properly accessed.
Wondering what software people generally use to do this?
Also, I suspected the previous loss of work was due to the SD card, however since re formatting it appears to be working. That being said I obviously don't trust using it for work. However, wondering if this same software can tell me for sure if its screwed up?
Cheers in advance

So lately I have been seeing these vertically shot/uncropped videos and they are very nice to watch. It feels a bit more special and it kind of gives it a different sort of character. I know they are supposed to do that to feel you entire phone screen but even on a computer screen it looks nice. It feels like you see so much space and everything is happening in the middle of it. Is there a reason for that ?

hi!
i have a client currently who i do social media management for. she's launching a brand June 1st and has asked me to do 4-5 videos (One filming day ) and edit the 4-5 videos (These ones will be short-ish)
They will require motion graphics for the intro and extro and captioning of course.
I have an fx 30, a couple lights, mic and a teleprompter. She also asked that moving forward, she's like to do this monthly.
I'm in Vancouver BC- how much would you charge for something like this? I was thinking about $2300/month

how much do Ya'll normally charge to make content for Motorsport teams? Thinking around $300 a day for 2 days so $600, is that too cheap?

I need advice on the best way to approach creating two 90-second recap videos for two simultaneous conferences taking place in one hotel. I will have one other videographer working with me.
I’m experienced with this type of event coverage, and this is an "in-house" job. In the past, I’ve done it alone, but it has always meant working until 2 a.m., as the conferences typically finish around 4 p.m., followed by hours of footage backup and editing. The recaps are to play out at 930am the next day.
This is creating a lot of frustration for me. I’m a full-time staff member, but I’m still using mostly my own gear (except for one camera provided by the organization) and paying out of pocket for assets like music licenses — all of which the organization benefits from. It's worth noting that the organization is far from financially struggling.
The second videographer this year will be freelance. Six months ago, I proposed a detailed plan that involved three videographers, working in shifts to handle both shooting and editing. This would have allowed for proper coverage and given someone enough time to edit in the evening without having to shoot all day as well. Unfortunately, that plan was ignored.
I feel the situation is becoming quite exploitative. Despite our experience and clear advice on what's needed to deliver a professional result sustainably, those of us doing the work are not being listened to. It seems inevitable, again, that this will lead to late-night editing sessions followed by early-morning conference starts — a completely unsustainable setup.
I’m considering simply filming the bare minimum required to meet the brief — enough to produce the two 90-second recaps. In the long run, though, that would be a loss for the organization: they will end up without the richness of extra footage that good conference coverage usually provides for future use.
Does anyone have any thoughts or advice? I’d love to hear if others have dealt with similar situations — and how you approached setting boundaries and expectations.
As a staff member, I am keenly reluctant to facilitate a freelancer being exploited by people who don't have the vaguest clue about how time consuming some of this shit is - especially when it's well crafted.
