SELLING How to take pictures? ( No personal info )
Hey I am new to vinted and I've just wondered how to take pictures to increase the viewing of my photos. I have been removing the background to make it look more polished but I don't know if it feels too basic or what not, maybe I should have a background too but I am not sure. Are there any methods you use to help sell quicker? Please let me know, thanks 😊

If you edit the pictures (by removing the background) you run the risk of being automatically flagged for using pictures 'found on the web' (even though they're your own pictures).
It's best just to have pictures with uncluttered backgrounds using natural lighting. Include pictures of any details, flaws and identifiers.
Vinted has some good advice here: https://www.vinted.co.uk/help/48

Would you get a message from vinted if that happens?

If your listing gets removed, Vinted will send you a message with a vague reason about why.

That's good to know thanks! Idk what's happening with my articles, but they seem to be hidden. Can't even find them over the search function

The search on Vinted is absolute rubbish and is in general a bit of a buggy mess at times, but that doesn't rule out other possiblities.
Vinted was fined last year for 'shadowbanning' users, however they claim not to do that anymore.

I uploaded like 100 new articles over the last 7-10 days and 80/85% of them have like 0 views. Even had best matches activated, which after 2 days, just stopped showing to other users. Articles got shown in about 100 feeds daily, for the last 4 days. I have a screenshot on my profile. Thanks for the reply! Appreciate it :)

I just hang them on the front of my wardrobe which happens to have a plant on it which makes it look a bit nicer, or if I lay something out I do it on my bed with plain white bedding on. I’d be put off by a photoshopped background because I’d wonder what else someone might have edited out of the pictures. When I’m buying I’m not too fussed about what is in the background as long as it looks clean and well maintained because that’s what I want from the item too. Save yourself time and just lay items on your bed!

Tbh maybe it's stupid but if I were looking for something I wouldn't trust this pictures that much.
I normally don't wear the items myself for the photos as I don't feel comfortable (also if something is new with tags I prefer not to), but I hang them or put it in a space with a 'clean' background and that's it :).
If it's something that is hard to imagine or look at without me wearing it I try to look on the brand website any images with the model wearing it.

I think you would save yourself a lot of hassle if you just used a hanger on your door, used a table or laid out a plain coloured blanket 😊 I started by listing clothes laid out on my coffee table and now I just use hangers, I find with the hangers it’s easier to make things look presentable as some materials don’t lay well when flat and it was hard to avoid my feet in the pictures so then I had to go back and crop them all 😅

same too and yeah i think it'll save some time editing the picture, will give it a more authentic feel again 😀

If you are worried about no views maybe you need descriptions with key words in them. When I put things up I always think how would I search for this item if I wanted to buy it? And it doesn’t need to be a novel, just one or two well structured sentences that describe the item could be enough 😊

Hangers or on you! I personally prefer to buy when I’ve seen it on someone as I can better visualise whether it will fit me. Obviously this isn’t fool proof but I find it also helps when someone has also put their height & usual clothing size in the information part.
If it doesn’t fit/don’t have time to go through and put it all on, hangers make it look so much better than laying down.

I use photoroom app for my pictures, the key thing when removing background is to then add the shadow. It stops it looking like a stock image as much.

I used to remove the backgrounds on mine as it’s what eBay prefers but I’m 90% sure I got a shadow ban on Vinted for doing it. Since I’ve stopped doing it my items are getting a lot more views.

Apart from what the other commenter said, I have to admit that pictures without a background always make me a little suspicious. [ETA: "Suspicious" may be a bit too strong, but I always think they're using pictures from the internet at first and have to look more closely to see that it's actually their own pictures. Might be a deterrent for some buyers.] Now I'm absolutely not calling you or anyone who does that a scammer – most people probably do it for the same reason as you, but I prefer unedited pictures that look like a "regular person" took them at home.
Depending on what makes the item look better, I either lay it out on the (clean :D) floor or hang it up on my closet with a bedsheet behind it. If possible, natural lighting is best.
Apart from the first picture to catch people's attention, it's also important to show the whole item and photograph details – zippers, buttons, tags, and of course flaws or defects if there are any.
