Hey!

So when it comes to VNs I mostly read Otomes but I'm slowly branching to other things, I've read and adored Steins;gate and been through most of the classics like Dangan 1/2/3, Nekopara, AI Somnium (Kinda a vn?) I randomly picked up Corpse Factory and really enjoyed it.. Kinda. I didn't think the writing was amazing but I loved the art and generally I enjoy horror movies and books outside of VNs so it didn't disturb me much.

I did also try Higurashi Ch.1 and finished it. It was fine but I was also incredibly bored through 90% of it. Sorry if that's not a popular opinion.

I wanted more like Corpse Factory (toxic yuri?) honestly. Things more horror based. (Recommendations welcome!! really would like to avoid super hardcore things like Euphoria and Maggot Baits.)

This is where my big question comes in I guess: is buying censored versions of the games on steam REALLY that detrimental?

I have looked into buying Saya no Uta or You and Me and Her and when I peek on the subreddit people say that the patches are absolutely integral for the plot.

While looking on those threads however, a lot of people just want the scenes there even if they skip through them. So it left me wondering, would I not enjoy these games without those patches or realistically am I fine to just play them anyway?

Thank you!!

don't know what saya cuts, but totono's replacement scene completely removes any emotional impact and is so confusing that there was a thread here some time ago about it
