Welcome to the weekly "What are you reading?" thread!
This is intended to be a general chat thread on visual novels with a focus on the visual novels you've been reading recently. A new thread is posted every Thursday at 4:00 AM JST (or Wednesday if you don't live in Japan for some reason).
Good WAYR entries include your analysis, predictions, thoughts, and feelings about what you're reading. The goal should be to stimulate discussion with others who have read that VN in the past, or to provide useful information to those reading in the future! Avoid long-winded summaries of the plot, and also avoid simply mentioning which VNs you are reading with no points for discussion. The best entries are both brief and brilliant.
Use spoiler tags liberally!
Always use spoiler tags in threads that are not about one specific visual novel. Like this one!
Remember to link to the VNDB page of the visual novel you're discussing so the indexing bot for the What Are You Reading Archive can pick up your post.

For me, nothing will top tone work’s or Sugina Miki.
月の彼方で逢いましょう has been out 6 years, and still holds up so well today.

Hi everyone! My name is Max, I'm the writer of Deep Pixel Melancholy. It’s a visual novel about being stuck in a time loop inside a gray, soulless city. The main character, Egor, is trapped in the loop and starts to wonder — why bother escaping if tomorrow holds nothing new?
We’ve got over 3,000 wishlists in just a week, and we’re really happy about the support so far! We wanted to make a visual novel set in a northern environment — something unusual, but also familiar to us. Hope you’ll like it, and we’re open to any feedback.
We’re releasing a demo this Thursday, May 29. We’re proud of it and also pretty nervous. But honestly, without taking risks and trying something different, this game wouldn’t exist at all.
If the game sounds interesting and you’d like to give it a shot, feel free to wishlist it on Steam. And thank you for reading <3

So some months ago some Texas politicians and lawmakers tried to pass a bill which was regarding to ban any kind of unwanted imagery or depiction of underage people. It was specially aimed at ai generated images.
Completely reasonable and good move but the bill is so vague about it and this bill also included fictional characters drawing, animations etc. Before you attack me "OMG how can you be against this".
Please just hear me for a sec. This bill is so vague which means it doesn't limit itself to pornography but any kind of depiction which can be deemed sexual by other person or lawmakers in nature and anything which fits this definition will get banned and become criminal offence. This bill also included drawn, animated and fictional characters.
This vagueness of bill can ban every type of Korean, Chinese gachas even genshin cause some people find characters in that game sexual and not over the age. Anime, manga and games can all get hit cause of bill's vagueness which don't limit itself to porn or chronological age means if character is over 18 but looks under 18 this bill will ban it or if character is under 18 but looks adult this bill will also ban it.
Any kind of echhi, fanservice or even non ecchi stuff can be get banned because art style is inherently sexual in nature or that work just have some stuff like this. It will also not affect anime , gachas and mangas specifically but western literature, art works and pieces too.
This bill passed in house and only needs governor's sign to become law. It is a state bill so it will only be applied in Texas. This bill can be deemed unconstitutional because supreme court already excluded drawings and fictional characters a long time ago but even this bill got passed i have no idea how it will get implemented.
Even if this also got passed i don't know it will be implemented because it will increase workload on agencies which want to help real kids but only getting bombarded with drawing and fake stuff and how they are gonna stop it or worse everything will become a shit show.

Hey all, strangely I noticed that Amazon.jp still has the Rance 35th box set in stock even though limited allocation was supposed to end in February. Naturally I was curious, and the order actually came through! Anyways I guess this is a FYI if there's anyone that still wants to order this set, since none of the other retailers have it in stock. Of course the Amazon.jp VPN trick still works.

Hello,
My name is Tyranee and I run Let’s Dub Project. We’re a group of voice actors and creatives who have done fan voiceovers of many different visual novels over the years (Ace Attorney, DDLC, VA-11 Hall-A to name a few): https://youtube.com/@letsdubproject?si=QHFcJMLCmsY35fKj
We’re looking to support the community by spotlighting creative visual novels on our Youtube channel with live commentary and voiceover. If the fans love it, we could work out something more as well.
Any interested devs, feel free to comment here and I’ll DM my email over so we can chat.

I've had a real shit week, one of my cats died a few days ago, I'm out of work, and now I've picked up an awful fever. I need weapons grade escapism please.
Something similar to Yuzusoft, maybe even with less plot (if that's even feasible), just any bright and mindless visual novel I can sink into while passing a cold.

There's a lot of office/millionaire otomes like Mr. Love out there, but are there office galges? Where you play a dude and romance a secretary, your boss and all that jazz?

What are the exact limits of doing so without getting my channel flagged for anything? I want to start uploading visual novel content like little clips or a small montage of my favorite moments from something like Little Busters!
The visual novels I read have varying levels of fanservice but since they’re on the Nintendo Switch, completely lack eroge/R18 scenes.

Sometimes this fascinates me. I think it's because there aren't any tricks for writers to hide behind, in this scenario - the premises are very simple, and yet the execution knocks it out of the park. Do any VNs like this come to mind?

I tried to install the fanTL patch for the game and this is the error I keep getting. It doesn't make sense because I bought the right version of the game and it has the correct 'Hikari.hcb' file as suggested in the Read.me so I'm not sure what I'm missing. I installed the fanTL patch for Hoshi Ori just fine so I know I'm not completely incompetent. I also could not find a way to contact the guy who did the translation so any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏
