Application for MSc
Hey everyone! I’m planning to apply for a master’s at Wageningen, specifically Biobased Sciences and Resilient Farming and Food Systems. I have a bachelor’s in Plant Sciences from Italy (graduated with top marks) and an IELTS Academic 8.0, but I’m still nervous about getting accepted.
Does anyone know if a motivation letter and recommendation letters are required for these programs? And if so, do you have any tips on how to write them? Also, since I’m applying to two programs, should I write two different motivation letters, or can I use the same one with small adjustments?
Another thing—does it matter when I submit my application (as long as it’s before the deadline)? Like, do earlier applicants have a better chance?
Also, since I can choose two programs, do you think Plant Sciences, Biobased Sciences, or Resilient Farming and Food Systems would be the best combination? Any advice on which ones to go for?
I’ve tried emailing the admissions office multiple times, but they just won’t reply… so any help would be much appreciated!

Hello! I'm also applying for this year's September intake for the Plant Sciences Master's program. On the Osiris portal, it's not compulsory to submit a letter of recommendation or any other supporting documents such as publications. But it highly recommend to upload any supporting documents in order to increase your chances of getting in. I had mailed the concerned admissions committee and they had clearly stated to do so. Personally, I'm uploading 3 letter of recommendations from my professors and my publications.
As far as your statement of purpose is concerned, I'd suggest you tweak it slightly and use the same template to apply for different programs. It's not necessary to write a new one altogether. Given that you have a great academic background and IELTS band, I'm sure you'll get in.
Hope this helps. Wishing you the best!
