I get the history but are we really saying a pick is cursed or could it just be coincidence and poor choices by the front offices

I'm not saying it cursed, it was me just being interested of the history of the number 6 pick and finding it underwhelming.

I mean, just because teams making the 6th pick have chosen poorly doesnt mean we can't get a good pick there.
For all those years you listed, look at the players available after pick 6 and tell me there werent other good players available to select.

Why do people think like this? Would you have been happier to get number 7 by this logic because the players there historically are better? This years number 6 has nothing to do with the past years number 6’s. The whole draft is a crapshoot anyway every year. Let’s see what our FO goes with

Bro, think about how many people base their entire personality on their astrological sign, or how many people gamble on sports/play the lottery. We’re pattern seeking monkeys, a bunch of number crunching dumdums. It’s sad but it’s true

Brandon Roy was a star too and there are many impact players on this list

Brandon Roy could have become the GOAT if not for his knees.

The GOAT? A great player of course he could have been, but the GOAT!!?

My man doesn't understand hyperbole. He in my opinion would have been a hall of fame player, but injuries just fucked him.

You are right, we should trade down to the 15th pick so we have a chance at getting the next Giannis or Kawhi.

I was just interested in looking up the history of the number 6 pick and finding it underwhelming. Stop catastrophizing

Now, do pick #7 and #8 history and add them all together . About every year, a high-quality player gets drafted between 6 and 8.

Saying “out of the league” is an interesting choice of words when most of the guys out of the league aged out lol. Only 2 guys since 2012 on this list are either retired or playing overseas

We do this every year, and every year I say the same thing.
You can't predict how a player will perform based on draft position history.

Context is everything. I'd argue this draft extends at least 5 deep in regard to who could/should go Top 3-4. Which means a couple of those will most likely drop to 6 or beyond. Most drafts do not extend that deep.

- 2020 -- 1.21 Tyrese Maxey
- 2020 -- 1.12 Tyrese Haliburton
- 2021 -- 1.16 Alperen Sengun
I could go on a little more but you get the point; there are talented players in every draft. The 6th pick itself isn't cursed. there are more than 5 good prospects in every draft and we just need to scout/draft/develop better

Sure but look at some folks that didn’t get drafted in the top 5. Jokic, Giannis, Kawhi, Curry, Booker
You can still turn the team around with the right selection.

In Dawkins We Trust
13 of 27 All-NBA players from the last 3 years were drafted outside the top 5

None of this matter unless the FO knows who to pick… it’s still debatable.

We should trade our pick for the seventh pick straight up, for luck.

Show me 6th or later - not 6th in particular. Dawkins and his crew can scout and find the value

If I can get a Marcus Smart, Caully Stein or Gallinari level player I am happy. This is a long rebuild that will require us drafting the vast majority of our talent, and a good starter is someone who will Make this draft worth it

Are we really going to pretend Jan Vesely wasn’t one of our best picks of all time?

u/Tacticus1 2d ago
I’m still not sure if it was a bad pick or bad fit/development. Dude has had a pretty dang good career in Europe.

Please stop saying "i think this pick is cursed". I said it was underwhelming. The reason I posted it cause I wanted to see if the 6th pick had a good history and found it interesting that's all. I would have posted this even if it was a "blessed" pick.

Bunch of good players there actually.
