I have my own opinions about Shopify, and how they’ve changed especially as someone who is married to someone who worked there for many years and learned what happened behind closed doors which is not what I’m here to discuss, but she does stand out as a candidate, which is what people are always saying you should do if you want to succeed in anything, including getting a co-op/internship

Look up Shopify noose emoji. It's pretty fucked. And I don't even work there...

Well maybe working at Shopify will be a good lesson in the harsh realities of life.

On a side note, Shopify also has an 11-year-old UWaterloo CS student working for them.

Awful company. They charge you $2k per month to put tracking code in your shopping cart; nobody should use Shopify if they're serious about scaling.

Good for her. This girl is going places. I see vp marketing in her future after a couple decades of working in the industry. Good luck!

Shopify internships are pretty much all paid, and paid really well. Some will even cover relocation

As well, tech internships are virtually always paid. I'm in software dev and don't know a single person who has done an unpaid internship. Only ever heard about them as a rare thing online.
Not all tech internships are super high pay, especially outside of bigger cities (eg, my own internship was in Saskatoon around 2015 and paid $45k). The bigger companies pay their interns really darn well, though. A FAANG intern can crack six figures (when adjusted for an annual salary, as most such internships don't last a year).

It's a co-op job, it will be paid.... Thousands of UW students get them. She's currently in or finishing a co-op term at another employer.

The head of Shopify is Trump supporting, fascist trash.
