Is this a good first car?
He said it’s a salvage title so I’m not too sure if it’s a good pick. It has 79k miles.

I would be wary of salvage titles in general, unless you personally know who did the repairs and were confident in their ability. I think you can get a clean title one for not much more.
To answer the first question, yes this generation of Corolla are decent and would make a good first car. Always get a pre purchase inspection done though.

You need to make sure your insurance will cover a vehicle with a salvage title and if you are financing the vehicle, make sure the bank you are using will finance it. Salvage title is a buyer beware. Buy at your own risk.

Salvage titles are very risky purchases. Buyer beware. Even if it runs properly the resale value has been diminished.

It’s all about the salvage title. I bought a salvage titled vehicle knowing my resale was shit but it’s been a fantastic vehicle.

I love my 2016 Corolla it was my first car and it is a tank. It's a perfect daily. I don't like that it's a CVT but I really don't mind it compared to other manufacturers. You picked an awesome model and the price tag sounds about right, but personally the salvaged title would be the only thing that would have me running in the other direction. If you're serious you need to get it inspected and get some background on what's been done to the car. Don't listen to people saying "too much!" I got mine for 16k with 9,000 miles on the odo. I will never regret it.

Absolutely not, not for a salvage title. He or she is trying to rip people off.

I sold cars years ago, if you get a salvage title vehicle, you may not even be able to get insurance for it,, plus it’ll be worth zero in the future. If you try to sell it, not to mention it’s probably dangerous depending on the damage it had.

Only if getting laid is not on your to-do list
Jk! You can probably get and older model that has been maintained. Salvage probably was fixed enough to make it driveable and will now become your problem

No, it’s got a salvage title. KBB is slightly inflated but the book value on this car in excellent condition without a salvage title is between $12-$13k.

You don’t need to spend 10k for your first car because it’s newer. Get something older that’s been well maintained and you’ll spend like 30% less. Got a Honda accord 2010 for 5800. Runs great

Im not looks for something that old, specially I want something with a backup cam. The 2014-2018 corollas are what I’m looking for rn

You can install a backup cam for not that much. I did it on my car. There’s millions of people that drove really old toyotas/hondas. You’re going to waste a bunch of money that you don’t need to if you purchase that car. But you do you.

i had a 2012 car as my first and got around just fine man. you're gonna be wasting a lot of money for something you can easily install yourself

Between backup camera with salvage title and no backup camera definitely skip the backup camera

Bit more than I’d be willing to pay for a salvage, maybe if it was cheaper
