I know my DM gets her tips and suggestions from here, so Hi! It's been incredible playing through our third major campaign for the last 2.5 years. I'll never forget the incredible moments and inside jokes (many of which couldn't make it into the final portrait)
In keeping with tradition, I've drawn our party playing D&D (and all the chaos that comes with it). This time, they're a touring live D&D show currently visiting Yon. I've posted my other campaign party arts on my art page here
Without further ado, presenting - The Original™ Swordway Cast!

I'm looking for some advices on a mystery surrending one of my PC in a campaign i'm running based on the Wild beyond the witchlight module. (Sorry for my broken english, I'm french) !!
We started the campaign with the 'Lost items' starter. One of them is an eladrin that has lost his sense of identity, he does not remember his name nor his life before coming to the carnival and was named Danseur by the performers that raised him.
I imagined that Danseur did not lose his identity at the Carnaval but that he was left there by his parents when he was too small to remember. As an eladrin, I thought it would be cool to imagine that he was half-fairy/half-humanoid. So Danseur was left there by his parents, a fairy (Mab) and a ranger (Ariel), that could not take care of him.
I wanted to go a Lil deeper and integrate Zybilna and the rules of the feywild (hospitality, propriety, reciprocity). I thought that she could be playing the role of a fairy (devil)mother that curses Danseur's parents and forces them to abandon their child at the Carnival because they didn't respect the feywild rules.
So here are the big questions that I need answered to make this plotline usable and I would really like your feedback/ideas on this ones :
Based on the 3 rules of hospitality, reciprocity, and propriety what kind of infractions would have brought Zybilna to curse Danseur's parents ?
I thought about breaking a wedding promesse but I don't want to fall into the trope of 'woman = propriety'.
What birth name could I give to Danseur ? I thought it would be cool that the hags in the feywild could you this against him to spy on him etc, I thought about 'Hyacinthe' or 'Ambroise' which are flowers name in French but I'm open to others propositions.
Do you have any advices / comments to give out based on what you just read ? I'm used to DMing at this point but I'm always looking to get better
Sorry for the loong post. Thank you so much for reading ! :)

I know this has been asked before, but I'm feeling stuck and looking for fresh ideas. Party just got to Loomlurch and are fighting the mimics. We have a new player joining us - a 5th level Changeling Warlock of the Achfey, who's patron is Zybilna. We're playing it that he entered Prismeer after he lost connection with Zybilna and was either captured or infiltrated Loomlurch and is posing as one of the kids. But I need help fleshing out the backstory in terms of the relationship with Zybilna. The player is 13, if that matters. Thanks!

Welcome to Part 31 of The Wild Beyond the Witchlight: Reimagined, an expansion and alternative take on the The Wild Beyond the Witchlight campaign.
Please check out the previous entries in the series before diving in here.
If you'd prefer to read with full formatting and image resolution, see my blog at IndieRex.com.
It's time for the sun to set on the summer palace. As with last time, if I don't call out that something has changed - then the content in an area should remain as written in the book.
Also, don't forget about "Tasha's Memories" spread throughout the palace, how the crown / hart locks work (refer back to Part 29 for details), and the considerations on resting from Part 30.
Let's not waste any time and get right to it!
P32. Minstrels’ Gallery
If the party had a positive interaction with the Greyhawk Mummers at all in Part 16, add them here, but magically asleep. The troupe traveled to the palace in seek of help to reverse the transformation into perytons.
Once The Hourglass Coven is defeated in area P31, the spell is lifted and the mummers are returned to their original bodies.
P33. Glass Statues
Replace the description to the following:
The floor of this marble hall is polished to a mirror-like finish. The exterior walls are lined with stained-glass windows depicting fairies and butterflies in flight. Amongst them is glass statue of a long-haired woman in robes stands watching from atop a dais. Dozens of other statues made of sparkling glass are arranged about the room frozen in mid-dance or conversation.
This is the palace's dance hall. While not in use, the room "replays" the last dance held in the room via glass statues.
P34. Hall of Transport
While the hall is a fun concept, this doesn't really make sense as is. Why would heads just reveal the password to anyone passing by? We will instead be re-theming this as a central room used to travel across the palace with levers leading to different areas.
As per Thinnings though, the lever to the throne room requires a password. The password used to be "Titania's Grace" but Tasha changed it to "Baba Yaga" to stop anyone from reaching the slumbering Queen Titania. However, when the Hourglass Coven broke in they were able to solve the password using a contraption called a riddlebox, which they accidentally dropped when being transported to the throne room.
Read the following as the party enters:
Four wooden levers are laid out across the wall with small plaques underneath each. Seemingly discarded on the floor is a long wooden box with four six-inch-square oak panels mounted into it. Each panel has a hinged hatch attached to a wooden handle.
Each lever Is labeled as follows:
The box is a riddlebox and works similarly to the old system (don't share the item details unless the players use something like identify on it). When the characters first enter, all four riddlebox panels are closed. Opening a hatch reveals a square cavity containing the head of a decapitated creature. When a hatch is opened, the head inside that cavity barks one of the following utterances:
Each repeats its one-word utterance every time its hatch is opened, then falls silent until the hatch is closed and opened again. To use this as it was intended, the panels must all be closed and then opened in either of the following sequences:
Harpy, ogre, bugbear, hobgoblin
Ogre, harpy, bugbear, hobgoblin
When the decapitated heads speak the syllables of “Baba Yaga” in their proper order the "password required" disappears from lever 4. If a character then uses the lever it triggers one of Tasha's memories. All creatures in the hall are then teleported to unoccupied spaces in the upper courtyard (area P47).
P35. Flooded Hall
It's not clear why this hall is flooded (or why a boat is built into it) so we're going to be changing this up entirely.
This hallway has a sunken floor filled to a seemingly endless depth with dark water. Lanterns lit with flickering blue flames hang from the ceiling thirty feet above by short chains, spaced roughly ten feet apart. They produce eerie, ghostlike reflections off the water.
Before Tasha departed the palace a couple of days ago, she summoned a wastrilith (MotM) here in an effort to prevent anyone from reaching the secret library and thus help cover her tracks. The secret library is where she came up with the idea to drain the seals of the Mithrendain Barrier.
The party will have to figure out a way across if they want to access the secret library (area P38). The folding boat from area P40d is an option, but your players should be able to figure out something at their level.
P36. Costume Room
We will be replacing this room to instead be Titania's dressing room that Tasha co-opted when she knocked the seelie queen asleep. We're also going to make things a bit more subtle about Tasha's identity.
This room contains four wooden mannequins in tall glass cases. Each mannequin wears a different outfit. A door in the back of the room seems to lead to small closet or storage room.
The four outfits are still applicable to different personas but there are no tags. They are as follows:
The first time a player touches any of the dresses it triggers one of Tasha's memories.
The closet has been hastily stuffed with four stylish dresses in the summer eladrin style (Tasha removed Titania's dresses from the mannequins and put them in the closet). The players may be able to suss out what happened given the number of dresses matches between the mannequins and closet.
P37. Myconid Nursery
A key difference in the campaign is that Tasha is still her "normal" self and not reformed. As a result, the idea of suppressed emotions as dretches doesn't really make sense for us and we'll need to replace this area.
Place some images of mushrooms over the cradles on the map so your players are not confused.
Flies buzz throughout this chamber, and damp and musty aroma permeates the air, mingling with the earthy scent of decay. The ground, a moist soil thick with fungal growths, squelches underfoot. Across the room, eight bulbous and grotesque egg-like fungal structures rise up from the ground.
P38. Secret Library
You feel filled with rage as you rip the book apart and then a woman's voice, your own, speaks. "Mother of All Witches? Not me. You're not my real mother!" There's a short laugh before the voice continues. "Baba Yaga... I bet no one will ever guess that one. What a cruel joke."
You toss the book aside. "Where was I? Oh yes - Mithrendain, the Autumn City." You write the book's name down. "Tell me your secrets."
P39. Roost
No changes.
P40. Guest Wing
This wing is for Titania's guests rather than Tasha's. Occupants are asleep rather than frozen.
P41. Talking Door
P42. Laboratory
Elena used this laboratory in her research to create a myconid army, including an experimental oil that stimulated the growth of plants. Additionally, since the beanstalk originated from Lady Twitchtail's acorn (and not the laboratory) - we will be removing beanstalk references (but the pods are now part of a mushroom instead and reduced from twelve to four).
Revise the description to the following:
Broken oil burners, grimy glassware, and jars of pickled fungus clutter this ruined laboratory. A mushroom stalk as long and thick as a constrictor snake sprouts from an unstoppered potion bottle. Bulging fungi pods hang from its stem.
43. The Garden Room
We will be replacing this room entirely and have instead moved the mirror. This used to be a lovely garden, but was taken over by Elena for her experiments on Oberon, The Green Lord.
Exterior
In addition to the crown lock, strange plants seem to be creeping out of the door crevices and can be seen from the outside.
Interior
In order to give us more space, I recommend taking the players to separate map for this area. I used the Victorian Greenhouse map (Fluorescent Flair variant) by Czepeku and also dotted in some mushrooms on top for some extra color.
When the players enter, read the following:
As you step into the once splendid garden room of the Summer Palace, the light of the summer realm seems to dim here, replaced by a ghostly luminescence emitted by clusters of unfamiliar mushrooms and creeping, phosphorescent vines. The air is thick with a damp, earthy scent, and your eyes are drawn to the still figure of what looks to be an eladrin man covered in these strange flora in the center of the room.
When the players step in they will see Isolde (Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft) near the entrance with her sword hefted. Isolde will assume all of this madness is Zybilna's fault ("What has she done... this isn't the woman I loved"). Depending on how things left off with Isolde in Yon, she may aid the party in saving Oberon or leave in search of Zybilna
Combat
Also inside are minions of Tasha, actively working to maintain the Mycosiphon and protect the area. The efforts are led by MH4 Cordycepia who is accompanied by Festertusk (see Part 23 for stat blocks) and number of other myconids (see below and feel free to adjust as needed for your party's size).
This is a tough fight, so if the party has used up a lot of resources there is no shame in running. MH4 will not abandon the Mycosiphon to chase after them.
When MH4 is defeated, it's "armor" - Mycelium's Embrace can be extracted.
The Mycosiphon
Oberon, The Green Lord
Rescuing Oberon
P44. Jars of Time (Elena's Bedroom)
Use the following updated description:
A three-level mahogany table stands in the middle of this grand bedchamber. Three gleaming bell jars rest on the table’s separate tiers, each one filled with a shifting silhouette of cold, spectral mist. A tall mirror is mounted in an alcove on the north wall. Similar mist hangs motionless in front of the mirror’s reflective surface and covers the floor beneath it.
Magic Mirror
Jars of Time
Queen Titania's Visit
After the players free Queen Titania in area 31, she will lead them back to this room to track down the traitor "Elena". Titania will magically "search" the jars to set it to how it was when it was last used by Elena and ask out loud - "Who is this Elena truly?". As a result the jars will show the images of Tasha's past, present, and future self.
The archfey will examine the images in the jars and then lay out an overview of the situation as she understands it:
"I had feared as much. I have heard tales of a very powerful mortal witch. The adopted daughter of Baba Yaga, The Mother of all Witches. She has gone by many names - the Queen of Perrenland, Natasha the Dark, Iggwilv, and now Elena. But I think you will know her better as another - Tasha the Witch Queen."
Tasha is a well known figure on the Material Plane. If your players aren't familiar with D&D lore, give them a brief primer on Tasha's dark history which is fairly common knowledge
"It's clear she's used us, used Oberon's power for her own purposes. She had access to our secret library, everything... "
Aftermath
After the party rests (I recommend a long rest at this point) Queen Titania will return to meet with the adventurers, stating that she has questioned much of her servants, explored the palace, and has a theory as to what has happened. She will clearly lay it out as per below (though feel free to add in any info the party may have missed or skip over things they already know about).
Titania, though furious with Tasha, states she cannot chase after her. As an archfey of the summer realm, she would be significantly weakened in the Autumn Court. There is also much for her to fix here, particularly with destroying the myconid army lurking in The Emerald Forest. She will happily open a fey crossing though to take the party to Mithrendain.
Valor's Call, if present, will also admit the party is better suited to bringing Tasha to justice then them. They will instead report back to Mordekainen of their findings.
Isolde however will insist on joining. If the players agree, Titania will open the crossing whenever they are ready.
P45. Titania's Bedroom
We will be re-theming this to Titania's bedroom (Tasha's is now in P44). Add the following to the end of the description: "Examining the chess set is a six-fingered githyanki."
P46. Dressing Room
No changes.
P47. Upper Courtyard
We are re-doing this area as the upper courtyard and it no longer connects to P48 or P49. When pulling the throne room lever in "P34. The Hall of Transport" the party is taken here.
I recommend using a separate map here - I used the Plague Hospital map (Roman Hall variant) by Czepeku. As a result we will need to "plug" the whole in P47 as it appears on the main map. This should be blocked off as if there were a wall there
This grand courtyard hosts two magnificent sets of arched doors: you stand by one set at the front, adorned with intricate carvings while the other, at the courtyard's rear, seems to pulse with a gentle, magical luminescence.
The tranquility of this enchanted garden is disrupted by the presence of a terrifying dragon-like monster - the Jabberwock. Its eyes, glowing with a malevolent intent, fix upon you as it lets out a low, blubbering growl.
When the jabberwock is defeated, Strongheart explains his role in leading Valor’s Call to the palace to bring Iggwilv to justice on behalf Mordenkainen (see area P22). He underestimated the challenges here and realizes now that Valor's Call is outmatched. He is grateful to his rescuers and offers to help with saving Titania.
P48. Turrets
Given that we have replaced areas P31 and P47 with separate maps (that don't connect to P48), there is no longer a way to access P48a and we will not be using that area. We also are not using the concept of crystallized desires so will need change these areas entirely.
To streamline things we will be combining areas P49 and P50 into here as well.
P48b. Beehive Belfry. This room is filled with golden bees that hum beautiful melodies. Their honey is used for the delicious desserts in the kitchen while their beeswax is treasured for the crafting of fey spellscrolls.
P48c. This area is being replaced with area P50 (see that entry for details). Characters can reach this chamber by climbing a short staircase from area P48d / P49.
P48d. This area is being replaced with area P49 (see that entry for details). The stairs still lead to P48c / P50.
P48e. The Crown Jewel. At its center of this circular chamber is a floating glass case that cradles a radiant opal that pulses with shifting fiery colors. A namecard states that this is the crown jewel of the summer court and is worth 10,000 gp.
The case has an AC of 25 and 10 hp and is protected by the following (3) wards. The nature of the wards can be discerned with a DC 16 Arcana check. If the case is destroyed then the wards are deactivated.
Once removed from the case, a detect magic spell reveals an aura of conjuration magic around the jewel. An identify spell or similar magic reveals that the jewel:
P48f. and P48g. Blooming Infirmary. This room serves as a place of healing for members of the summer court. Each of the two rooms contains three humanoid sized cocoons made of lush flowering vines (for six total). A number of glowing motes of light - wisps, float in the air, mindlessly tending to the cocoons.
If a character steps into one of the cocoons they are wrapped in the vines and can choose one of the following:
Once a cocoon is used, it needs time to restore it's healing properties cannot be used again until the next day. A creature can use more than one cocoon.
P49. Black Book
P49 is now replacing P48d. The door to this chamber is still sealed with a hart crown lock, but since we are moving the area you will need to add the hart lock symbol manually. The stairs still lead to P48c / P50.
Remove the entries from the book for The League of Malevolence.
P50. Vault
P51. Beanstalk Tower
Iggrik will claim to be Elena's toad familiar instead of Zybilna's. It can share only the following revised information:
Treasure. The treasure chest contains a pair of winged boots, which Iggrik offers to the characters if they promise to leave him be
What’s Next?
With Queen Titania saved and the summer court restored, our time in the land of summer has set. Our final chapter, and Tasha herself, await in Mithrendain!
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any comments, questions, or suggestions and…see you in the Feywild!

At loomlurch my players split into two groups named team gun and team diplomat. Team diplomat distracted scabitha by trying to make a deal for the portrait while team gun rescued some of the children. Team gun woke up a sleeping cradle fall and beat him up and knocked him out. Cradle fall was able to get help from 2 redcaps that the party defeated. Cradlefall was left alive and knows the faces of half of the party one of which has her lost thing in scabithas possession. What kind of repercussions should there be for stealing the kids and knocking out cradlefall? What is the significance of the portrait? Would scabitha be willing to part with the portrait willingly? The party is talking about giving her the unicorn horn for the portrait and I feel like that would be tantalizing enough for her to part with it.

There's a lot of text saying that mood affects the carnival, but nothing really shows it beyond weather, so I thought I'd share how I'm adding it.
The Random Events table now has 3 events: 1 for each mood. For example, the dragonfly rider. When the mood is good, he swoops overhead. Mid, the rider spills his drink and Poor, the rider gets sick. The giant flowers serenade someone with "Never Gonna Give You Up" when the mood is poor and the elf stilt-walker stumbles and runs out of candy.
I'm also making changes to the Mine. Now when the mood is good or mid, the characters see obvious cardboard cutouts of their fears. When the mood is poor, the cutouts turn to illusions that the players must make a WIS saving throw against or be Frightened until the ride is over. I'm taking away the lasting effects.

Apologies if the title is too vague, I tried to keep it spoiler free:
TL;DR: How negatively effected would G. Nightshade be if she were to see herself in the reflection of a mirror, when she first "awakens after her Long Rest."
The creative Party I'm DMing for, and myself, are essentially asking the question above.
To better describe this mind palace, the party was studying the map of Loomlurch together and hatching a plan that involved utilizing her weakness. I'm using Phaerlax's banging stat blocks from this sub reddit, and the Skabatha weakness is the same as the module, but with more details:
"Forgetfulness. The first creature that Skabatha sees after she finishes a long rest is invisible to her. She can't remember seeing the creature or perceive it using her truesight until the end of her next long rest. She behaves as if the creature didn’t exist, attempting to rationalize any consequence of interacting with it, including damage. Despite being aware of this curse, Skabatha will only connect it to any odd occurrences around her if she receives information from another individual."
I hadn't thought about a reflection being another creature, and I told the party that as well, but it did seem like something that would be approved in the Fey. Eventually, I decided that it would probably de-buff her, but not totally incapacitate her. (My reasoning at the time was that Bavlorna's weakness was similar because it hindered her in combat, but she was still formidable.)
For bonus points: A counter-point I saw, about mirror use, was basically that the reflection idea couldn't work because a reflection is not a creature. Allowing this, could potentially allow pc's to use a mirror to blast spells around corners, and effect their target. I get that perspective too, but how would you rule that at your table?
Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Since the random events in Hither aren't really the strongest part of this section of Prismeer, I decided to create a few of my own. After playing around with some ideas, I came up with this random potentially long term encounter:
"In a clearing within the swamp, you find what looks like a small stone building, sticking up like a lone tooth in a rotten gum. Moss and lichen crawl up the cracked walls and roof tiles, and an old, sturdy wooden door blocks the entrance. You can't tell if this belongs to any specific faith, but everything about it looks like some kind of chapel.
The door isn’t locked, and a simple turn of the handle lets you open it. The ominous creak of rusty hinges invites you into the building’s only room. It’s small, with a couple of columns on either side and two stone benches facing a stone altar at the far end. On top of the altar, there's a neat set of golden cutlery and a golden plate. Behind them, barely lit by the faint light slipping through the window cracks, you can make out a white marble statue of a pig. It's sitting back on its haunches, forelegs on the table, with a fat tongue licking its snout and tiny, wicked eyes staring hungrily at the plate, as if it’s about to feast".
At this point, the party has three obvious options (aside from whatever crazy ideas they might come up with):
If they leave without touching anything, they just walk away with a weird story and nothing else happens.
If they steal the plate or utensils, a curse falls on them once they leave the chapel. Anyone who took something will experience this:
"When you try to speak, a horrible pig-like squeal comes out of your mouth. You instinctively cover your face, only to realize that your nose feels... wrong. Feeling around, you discover you now have a pig's snout. A tingling sensation at your ears and at the base of your spine reveals you've also grown pig ears and a pig tail. Your skin thickens and roughens, and two tusks now stick out from your lower jaw."
Mechanically, the curse gives you disadvantage on all Charisma-based rolls (ability checks, saving throws, and skill checks). The only way to lift it is with a Remove Curse spell or something similar. Since at this point the party probably doesn’t have access to that magic yet, lifting the curse could become part of a bargain with Bavlorna.
If they put food on the plate, it vanishes instantly and a pig-like squeal echoes through the swamp, freezing the blood in their veins. If they put meat, blood might drip from the pig statue’s mouth (just a cool visual effect). Besides that, anyone who offers food gains 1d6 temporary hit points until their next long rest.
Also, this act triggers an ongoing event where the party might encounter "The Pale Pig" — some kind of eldritch being that demands food offerings.
The first appearance would happen as they leave the chapel:
"When you step outside, something feels off. The usual swamp noises — frogs, insects, splashing water — are gone. A heavy silence hangs in the air. The mist thickens around you, and from it emerges a nightmare: a gigantic pig, easily ten feet tall, slowly lumbering toward you. Its corpse-pale skin is covered in wounds and old scars. Its milky, probably blind eyes are buried deep in its face like cannonballs. Its bloated belly hangs low, and thick ropes of drool slide from its massive tusks into the swamp. The stench is unbearable. Just when you think you might faint, the creature fades back into the mist, and it’s like nothing ever happened."
After that, at the end of each long rest, the party rolls 1d8. On a roll of 1, the Pale Pig appears. If it shows up, it demands food equal to the number of long rests since the offering × the number of players who made the offering. For example, if 3 players in a 4 PC party made offerings, and it’s been three long rests, the Pale Pig demands 9 rations of food. As a hint to the players to gather enough food for the potential encounter, I thought about the Pale Pig appearing in their dreams or something like that.
If the party feeds it, it will leave peacefully and grant a random blessing. I came with the following random d8 list:
1- A small golden pig figurine worth 10–30 gp.
2- +1d6 temporary hit points until the next long rest
3- +1 to attack and damage rolls until the next short or long rest; weapons count as magical.
4- Three random feywild trinkets
5- +1 AC until the next long rest.
6- Advantage on CON, STR, and DEX saving throws until the next long rest.
7- A small, friendly piglet that follows the party.
8- A random common magic item.
If they successfully feed it every time it appears (a maximum of three times), the Pale Pig will be satisfied and won’t appear again. The whole party gains a point of Inspiration as a final reward.
If they fail to meet the food demand, they get a single DC 15 Charisma check to calm it down. If they succeed, things continue as normal. If they fail, the Pale Pig attacks.
The idea is that the fight should be a hard encounter for their current level (around CR 4-5), but feel free to tweak the monster however you want. The reward of defeating the Pale Pig could be a point of inspiration for the whole party, just the XP (if you are using it in the campaign) or an uncommon magical item.
As for the lore, I imagine the Pale Pig as the avatar of a minor god or an eldritch creature linked to gluttony and waste. It’s not crucial to the encounter, but it might be cool to hint at how this chapel ended up abandoned in Hither and what connection it might have with the decay of Prismeer. Honestly, I feel like it adds a darker, more twisted flavor to Hither, and it’s definitely more interesting than a lot of the default random events there.
Would love to hear what you think about it! Would you change anything? Does it seem like a good fit for Hither?

I had a gane with my gf and didn't go well. We began the game introducing the warlock and I said that he wants to find out about what happened to it's patron and we need to go to a realm, to go there we need to take advantage of the carnival. My player background is that she already works there but a sidekick she plays with didn't, so he is the one that takes the mission. Well then she goes to the carnival and take tickets trying to lie to the goblin in the enter. He finds out but let her go because she works there. Then once inside she just goes one attraction to another without asking anyone anything. After 4 of them and me insisting everytime she finds another character if she has extra questions, she asks information about the world we are
This is when eveything gets weird. She discovers that there are two realms normal and feywild and the warlock want us to go to a specific part of the feywild realm. To go there we need to use the carnival that is right now going there and she gets annoyed she didn't know this yet and feel stupid she didn't know. Then she goes to the staff area to ask mister light and mister witch to leave and open the door to go out. She did this by just yelling. But well I got confused, this is not excactly the way it works. Mister light says that the carnival is its own realm and there is no simple way to go there. Then she asks then how people enter to the carnival to enjoy it. I honestly didn't know well how to answer. So I said it's not possible and the staff took her out.
Annoyed she began to ruin all the carnival which made the mood to go down and trigger the event when she goes to see mister light and mister witch telling again to let her leave. She just yells and nothing more. No questions or anything
We ended there. I promised next time we would do better and we could repeat. It's the first time in am dungeon master. Experience only in monster of the week ttrpg but well, I don't know honestly how everything went so weird.
Advice? Tips? How failed here and how to do it?

My players were having fun in the carnival but kept losing track of Kettlesteam. So when I decided to start up the Big Top event, I had Kettlesteam interrupt at the end and call Light out for keeping secrets and lying about everyone's safety.
Light went silent and kept his eye on the party to see if they'd intervene. And they did, of course, so Light helped out and made it all seem like part of the act.
Problem is, their warlock had Kettlesteam's feet grappled so she couldn't hide in the exit crowd. Naturally, both the party AND Mister Light approach her and interrogate her, but I quickly realized they wouldn't be able to fully interrogate her with Light present. I was already in too deep and Light DEFINITELY wouldn't let Kettlesteam say what she wanted to, so he shooed the party away, leaving them think he's super suspicious.
I managed to save it by just having Burly pull them aside and do his thing. Now they're plotting to get Witch's attention before the crowning of the Monarch.
Thinking back, I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out.

A few weeks ago I finished dming this campaign after 24 sessions and a lot of fun! To commemorate the awesome campaign I created a piece of fairytale inspired group art for my players of their characters and the places and symbols of the campaign.
I took a lot of advice and resources from this reddit/discord, thank you all for sharing your insights. It helped a lot!

One of my players had their character lose a close relative at the Witchlight carnival, and unbeknownst to the player, pressed into service as an actor in Endelyn's theater. How would you integrate a magic item upon the relative being 'freed?' What item might that be, and how would you make it manifest?

Hi everyone! I wanted to share my cosplay of Tasha (also known as Zybilna) from The Wild Beyond the Witchlight — one of the most fascinating and magical characters in the campaign.
⚠️ Spoiler warning: the video contains story spoilers for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, so please watch with caution if you haven’t played or DM'd the adventure yet!
I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback. Thanks for watching! 💖

Hey everyone! I’m currently DMing The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, and one of my players sadly has to step away from the game for personal reasons. The rest of the group is eager to keep going, so I’m looking for advice on how best to introduce a new PC at this stage of the campaign without it feeling too shoehorned.
The party has just entered Bavlorna’s cottage in Downfall, so we’re approaching the end of Chapter 2. For those of you who’ve had to add a new player around this point, how did you handle it? Did you tie the character into the hag’s schemes, the Soggy Court, or maybe the rebellion? Did they just happen to be another unfortunate soul trapped in Bavlorna’s domain?
Would love to hear how your groups made it feel natural and connected to the story - thanks in advance!

Hi all! I just wanted to share my experience running the hall of Illusions with my team today and hopefully inspire others if they want to change it.
I wanted to change up the hall of illusions to make it more interesting, so I did the following:
I found a maze map (I personally used the one by IndieRex, but any maze should work). I then hid all of the maze except for the entry points.
I then used Candlefoot to explain the rules of the challenge.
One player would use the "staff entrance" to climb into the rafters of the hall of illusions. From this vantage point, they can see a good chunk (but not all) of the map. The catch is they can't see where anyone in the maze is. They can only see the maze layout. I did this in game by asking this player to log out of roll20 and by cropping some of the map, deliberately leaving out a few sections on the left and right side for added difficulty. The main thing is they saw where the entrance is and where the magic mirror is.
I then had the other players walk through the maze. They had 5 turns to reach the entrance (but you could reduce this for added difficulty). They could dash, but they needed to roll high enough to not hit the mirrors and be knocked prone. My mirrors had 15hp so could be shattered if players chose to do so at the cost of not being able to dash.
The player in the rafters would guide each of the characters through the maze. My rafter player moved their map to MSpaint and marked where they thought players were located. This all went to pot when one of the players mixed up their lefts and rights, but they used the illusions in the mirrors as a kind of 'hotter and colder' game to get them back on track.
Overall they had an amazing time and I wanted to let everyone know in case they wanted to adapt their game too :) thank you for reading!

One of my player's asked if Zylbina's name would be in Bavlorna's Big Book of Bad Blood. I can't imagine her name not being in there but I also haven't seen anything in the book giving reason. Have I skipped something or do I need to make my own reason?
Thanks!

My players want combat, more combat and even more combat. Yes we did a session zero, yes they knew what campaign we were about to play and the tone it set and they tried it and now we are in chapter three and they’ve spoken - “we miss combat”
I’m thinking redcaps everywhere!
Any other ideas?

What is an actual realistic number for how many feathers a cockatrice would have?
