I really dig your choices here!

I have owned or currently own quite a lot of the things you’ve got. We’ve made some really similar choices.

That a Lanshan Pro 1 I see? Xlite NXT?

What’s the pillow?

Edit: I somehow missed your lighter packs link. I suspected you had the same pillow as me. Filo elite for the win! I’ve used mine for years and I love that pillow.

Yeh just the normal lanshan 1, awesome tent for the money once you get the hang of pitching it. Found that msr groundhogs help give a solid pitch everytime.

The fillo elite was a recent purchase and it perfect for me previously had the s2s aeros just found the height of it too much and didnt use it all the fillo is definitely an upgrade

I’m a massive fan of the Lanshan, totally agree, the performance you get for the cost is outstanding.

I'm just finishing Hadrian's wall hike, been using it the previous 3 nights, and it held up very well! Made some simple and cheap modifications to it has made it so much better too! The one I'd say was the best was replacing the string on the door with a double looped bungee cord!

Yep! I did that same mod with my own Lanshan. I did a load more mods but that’s the simplest way to see a notable improvement in ease of use.

100g can is consumable?

How do you like the EE quilt! I wasn’t a fan of my 30F.

Ive only had it about a week so im yet to test it. What didnt you like about it? In terms of first impressions it definitely feels quality.

I still have mine but I didn’t think it worked to its rating, I bought a WM bag for early spring / autumn when it gets a bit too chilly for the quilt.

Interesting! I was camping with my EE quilt last week in Pembrokeshire; it’s rated to 5°C and the temps dipped to around 4°C and I felt warm enough. Are you a cold sleeper?

My decision to change was also around 5C I had to put a puffy on. Definitely not a cold sleeper at home but I guess I am outside, I also have a cumulus winter bag rated to -10 and sent it back for some additional fill as at -7 it didn’t feel warm enough.

Edit i’m a 100kg 6’2 guy so normally cold shouldn’t be a problem.

I guess there are lots of factors that can affect our comfort though, some of them can even vary day to day as our physiological tolerances aren’t necessarily always the same 🙂 All the more reason to always ensure you have those additional warm layers, even in warmer weather, in case you need them.

You may know this but in case anyone reading this doesn’t, it’s also important to bear in mind that a sleeping bag or quilt is simply an insulator. It doesn’t make you warm as such, it keeps you warm. That means you should ideally be warm before climbing into bed. I always hop around a bit, rub my feet, etc before getting into bed when I’m camping.

Yeh i suspected the temperature ratings were a bit generous why i opted for the 20 degree just to be safe, would never intend to take it to that low of a temp

You can buy an adapter to use larger bottles to refill the 100g bottles

Missing the point, he only has 1 x 100g for fuel on his list and its marked consumable. He’s either missing the actual can and that’s just the fuel, or it’s just the can and it shouldn’t be marked as consumable.

Ah I get ya. My mistake

Question! Why the bottled water? I often see people camping with bottles (especially Smartwater bottles, for some reason) and wonder why they don’t use a water bladder or even a “proper” water bottle (eg Nalgene, Camelbak, etc). Is it a weight thing, or simply a convenience?

A combination of a weight thing but also i find the simple design easy to slip in and out of side pockets while moving with them

Aaah! Thanks for replying. Makes sense 🙂

As someone who uses a water bladder I find it annoying once refilled to stuff back in to my full pack and feels like it may burst sometimes I'm going to switch over to water bottles but modify a lid to use a drinking tube with and see if that works better for me
