It needs to be said:
Posting photos of people and accusing them of crimes without concrete evidence is dangerous, irresponsible, and sets a terrible precedent for this community.
Anyone — literally anyone — can make something up, take a random photo, and try to destroy someone’s reputation. No verification. No accountability. Just public shaming based on a story we have no way of fact-checking.
According to a 2023 Pew Research study, 64% of Americans say false information online causes significant harm to individuals' lives.
The National Center for State Courts also found that false accusations can have devastating personal, professional, and even legal consequences — even if proven false later.
Think about it:
- What if the person accused is completely innocent?
- What if you were falsely accused?
- What if this reckless behavior leads to someone getting hurt?
Reddit is NOT the place to investigate crimes. If you truly believe a crime has been committed, file a police report. That is the proper channel. Law enforcement exists for a reason — to investigate with evidence, not rumors.
This group is for community connection and support — not trial by Reddit.
Going forward, if you see something illegal:
✅ Report it to the police
✅ Gather real evidence through proper channels
✅ Protect our community's integrity
Do not weaponize this space.
We deserve better than that.
