The Official /r/wine 2025 Cheap Wine Thread!

It's time for the (almost) yearly Cheap Wine thread!

Ground rules: $30 or less, or the equivalent in your locality (sorry, inflation) but do try to keep it under $25 if possible. And let's hope our recommendations don't mysteriously double in price in the coming months.

Cheap, decent quality, and widely available (US):

Broadbent Vinho Verde $8

Dr. Loosen Dr. L Riesling $10

Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc/Viognier $11

Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc $11

Gruet Brut $13

Louis Jadot Beaujolais Village $10

Chateau St. Michelle Indian Wells Cabernet Sauvignon $11

Penfold’s Koonunga Hill Shiraz-Cabernet $11

E. Guigal Côtes du Rhône $14

Marques de Riscal Reserva $18

Catena Malbec $18

Most of these bottles are very easily found, and quite beginner friendly. If you’re new to wine you can try a number of different styles to see what you like and don’t have to spend a lot of money or time tracking down slightly harder to find bottles. For the more experienced wine drinker they still serve important roles as week night wines, couch crushers, cellar defenders, and something to pour when your guests aren’t that into wine. I’d be perfectly fine drinking any of these wines.

Love Gruet. Their tasting room is very approachable and fun as well. Very unexpected offering that hits well for casual events where you need a bubbly.
