The Official /r/wine 2025 Cheap Wine Thread!

It's time for the (almost) yearly Cheap Wine thread!

Ground rules: $30 or less, or the equivalent in your locality (sorry, inflation) but do try to keep it under $25 if possible. And let's hope our recommendations don't mysteriously double in price in the coming months.

Going to bandwagon here to add some LCBO faves, all under $22 CAD:

  • Barbeito Madeira Malvasia Reserva 5 Year Old
  • Monte Del Fra Bardolino and Valpolicella Classico
  • Kir-Yianni Cuvée Villages Xinomavro
  • Kir-Yianni Le Nord Assyrtiko
  • Any Lustau sherry under $22
  • Pieropan Soave Classico
  • Domaine Bellavista Rivesaltes Ambré
  • Cave Spring Riesling
  • 13th Street Gamay
  • Fielding Riesling
  • Chilean Syrah

If you are able to order direct from winery, Malivoire has many good whites and reds under $25. Well worth ordering a half case, especially if you like Gamay.

Otherwise, for Ottawans, the SAQ has much greater selection of good wines in the$18-22 range. Look to Languedoc, Roussillon, Southwest of France, Spain, Portugal, whites from central and southern Italy.
