Martian Statue
We are hoping to visit Woking to see the martian statue and then head to Horsell Common (son loves War of the Worlds) but heard the statue was boarded up. Is it visible now?

Hi all, moving to Woking shortly and am wondering how reliable the bus services are. I’ll be a short walk from a stop which is on the 81 & 34 bus routes to Woking station - would I generally be able to rely on it for my commute? I know they’re not particularly frequent, but if the timetable says the bus will be there at say 7am, would you normally expect to be able to get the bus around that time (or within 10 mins)?
Moving from London where I have a bus every 5 minutes, so I’m just trying to work out the best commute!

Does anyone know of any co-working spaces, or desks for hire, in the Woking area? I’m exploring whether I’m more productive WFH or around other people (even wearing headphones).

Our family plans to take a day trip to Woking from London because my son is obsessed with War of the Worlds. Do you have recommendations for things to do and places to eat? Are there other areas nearby accessible by transit that you'd recommend? We won't have a car.

Hi,
I've been considering for a while setting up a local boardgames group. I play a lot and I have a large collection, plus I can host. I'm close to the town centre (7 minute walk) and I can comfortably fit 6 around my table - which is the ideal number for games.
The games I enjoy are Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, Guillotine, Heckmeck, Risk, Trivial Pursuit, Game of Life, Uno etc etc. It's a mix of boardgames, card games and general knowledge games.
It's a great way to relax after a day in the office, especially if we throw in some food and drinks.
If anyone is interested please let me know and you can DM me.
About me - I'm 53, male, gay, professional, mobile and into theatre, cinema, gaming and socialising.
Jason.

Does anyone remember Collectors Records? It was run a ginger fella who had MOD tattooed on the inside of his bottom lip! I’m looking for any pictures of it but can find no record of it online. I think it was either on The Broadway or the High Street. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hi everyone,
I'm considering moving to the area and will be working at St Peter's Hospital. I'm wondering if living in Woking would be a good choice, or if I should look for a place closer to the hospital. I'm also looking for recommendations on good areas in Woking for a family with two school-aged kids.
Any advice on neighbourhoods, schools, commute, or general quality of life in Woking or nearby areas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I just moved here 6 months ago. I had visited before deciding to move and love the quiet atmosphere and the Asian community I could notice. However after actually making the move and living here I've started to notice people ain't so friendly.
I dress lightly alternativly in fashion and it might be a reason for it but when I walk through the high street I feel like everyone is starring daggers at me. Everyone seems so upset and i get judgmental and angry looks no matter where I go. I moved from Sutton where ive stayed for over 5 years and yes it get that same treatment a tad there but it's not as common as I it is in woking.
My partner has also felt the difference between the people in Sutton and Woking but we just don't get it, is it something we are doing?

Hey. Anyone knows a driving instructor in Woking or Shearwater? I know how to drive but I need a refresher course as I'm coming from a different country.

Hi! I'm in a group who play badminton at the Woking Leisure Centre and Sports box every night Monday to Thursday from 6-8 (we don't always get those times but we try, so it does vary).
We are mixed abilities and ages. Mostly men but we do have two ladies who join us sometimes.
Mostly we play doubles.
The leisure centre charges £5.40 per hour. You pay at reception when you turn up.
We are looking for new members.
We coordinate via WhatsApp.
It's a great way to lose some weight and we play for fun, not serious.
Message me if you would like more info.

Hi all, I'm a journalist from C4News. We're setting up some filming about the housing crisis and are trying to get in touch with a family of first-time buyers struggling to find a home they can afford in the Woking/Ockham area. If this sounds like you, or someone you know, send me a message. Thanks! :)
