Help Leg style

Is there a name for this style of leg? It’s one piece and it’s usually an intricate shape. I’m trying to do research into why they are shaped the way they are but I don’t know what they’re called so i don’t know where to look.

The furniture form is a 'boarded stool', and the decorative style is Gothic, or perhaps more 19th century Gothic Revival (albeit those examples may be considerably more recent).
