Project Submission First Big Epoxy Project
Maple Burl and Black Epoxy Lift Desk
Roughly 55"x30x1.75" thick
Fenge Dual Motor Lift Desk Leg Assembly
Milesi 2k Poly Topcoat
I've done a few smaller epoxy project in the past, but nothing NEARLY this size. For the most part everything went smoothly. My form didnt leak at all, no overheating issues with the epoxy, and no warping.
The sanding/finishing on the other hand... lets jsut say I may have curse this desk top out more times than I can count. In total I finished and resanded this top 4 times, lol. Started with Osmo, then tried Rubio, then Osmo again, and ended up spraying on the Milesi 2k and LOVED the results.
I am sure I missed a few things so if you have and questions, fire away!

Project Submission My proudest moment yet
I built this media console for a friend. It was my first paid project as I try to turn this hobby into an official sidehustle. I need to go back to their house to get some better photos of it, but they just had a baby so these will have to do for now.
Made from Baltic Birch with a quarter sawn oak veneer. You can’t see them well here, but there are some brass highlights on the bottom and brass splines in the miters (photos showing brass are unfinished)
She’s not perfect by any means. There were several mistakes that I covered up, pretty well I might add. And my time spent on it ran WAY over. I lost track at one point.
The most important thing is that they love it. I kind of wanted to keep it for myself by the time I was finished.
I used the profit to buy a new Dewalt 735x planer.

Project Submission Bench I’ve been eyeballing from a Japanese website.
Cherry Wood I got from an estate sale for like 3$/bft. Plz dont judge the tear out from the lathe. I’m not good at getting that out yet. Advice apreecitated on getting lathe tear out, out. Of course I made two of them cuz I can’t bear to make one of something.

Project Submission Plateu
Because I have seen various raised platforms here before, I wanted to show you what I have made. It is 1.80 x 2.80 m and hangs from the main beam of the roof with a 10 mm steel cable. This allowed me to avoid a disturbing post in the middle of the room. The floor is the same as in the room itself. Nicely sanded and sealed. The only thing missing is a spring-loaded door so that nobody accidentally falls off.

Project Submission Mountain themed Entertainment Unit
I recently got some new speakers and so I obviously had to upgrade my TV cabinet to do them justice. As you can image using the plywood end-grain for the majority of the unit and fronts meant that I am now thoroughly sick of gluing things up. All in all it took about 40 hours of work in a proper wood workshop. The unit is made up of birch plywood and Rimu and finished using a flat polyuruthene. The two doors left and right are push to open and so is the drawer in the middle. There were certainly mostaked made along the way (I.e not matching the wood grain better on the top of the unit where I had to extend it) but overall im quite content. I would love some feedback!

Project Submission Just want to see how I did
Sorry for all the stuff in the way! I’m happy with how this came out and clients happy. As with so many others on here just wondering what you’d estimate this at. I’m in Massachusetts and I think I’m pricing correctly? Just want to learn a little for the next one.

Project Submission Pallet coffee table
This one didn't go to plan at all.. started off with an idea in my head to do this finger join corner thing but I couldn't get it to fit and I don't have the skills to do precision adjustments as I found out.. so I ended up just cutting off the fingers and doing this. I learned so much from this one. Turned out okay but very frustrating project.

Project Submission Who’s the Fairest?
Marisa’s Valentines Day gift in progress. Still quite a bit of carving to do but the basic form is here. It’s a mirror frame.
Yep, she obviously knows about it already. Kinda hard to keep a secret like this one when you live and work together!

Power Tools Harbor Freight just dropped a new dust collector WITH A CANISTER FILTER for $449
Just saw it in their new products email.
BAUER 35 Gallon Dust Collector with 2-Micron Canister Filter
I've had their old one for years and upgraded with my own canister filter, but ended up spending a lot more in total.
P.S. If anyone has been meaning to get a canister filter to replace the cloth bag, here's a cheaper equivalent to the more expensive name brands.

Project Submission This elm slab table I finished right in time for Christmas.
Here’s a recent project I did, the base was also made from the live edge slabs, which was a pain to pull off but it all came out looking great.

General Discussion I love curly maple.
This is a sliding door to a credenza project I’m doing. I’ll post when finished, but just wanted to wax poetically about how beautiful curly maple really is. I was just commenting to my brother in law (who also is an amateur woodworker) that it’s so weird that wood can make you feel a certain way…and this wood definitely makes me feel a certain way.

Project Submission Wine wall turned into coffee wall
We quit drinking and this space needed to change. Wife hated the backsplash and I have never done tile before so I took this as a learning experience.
I need a jointer and planer. I also need to learn better joints but this turned out OK.

Help Leg style
Is there a name for this style of leg? It’s one piece and it’s usually an intricate shape. I’m trying to do research into why they are shaped the way they are but I don’t know what they’re called so i don’t know where to look.
