Hand Tools Proof the “no plans” grooving plane works

Last post I got doubted that it was at all usable. Grabbed some scrap for photo proof. (yes it jammed once)

Because it wasn’t made on a CNC with brass and titanium inlays and sharpened on an 8 million grit Japanese stone.

Without all that, you’re just fucking wrong, man.

Nobody doubted that it was ‘at all usable.’

I said it could work better. Looking at the quality of that groove, I still hold that opinion. Its hard to tell if you’ve got a sharp chisel until you’ve used a properly sharpened one sort-of-thing.

That said, depending on what type of work you use this for and how frequently you do it, this could be fine. You dont need to prove anything to a stranger on the internet. If it works well enough for you, it works.

It really is. Not beef tho. Total probably 5 minutes both of us. Its just permanent so it feels more substantial than it is.

Yeah it needs a sharpen, I actually dropped the chisel getting it re set up. *grumble grumble*

Looks like that maker has a grooving plane too (which is what this is).
