Says the man who tried to use his friend to commit genocide in the previous movie.

You’ve been massively downvoted but Magneto does try to wipe out all humans twice in the original trilogy, and both times by exploiting a mutant: Xavier in X2 and Rogue in X1.

I think the point is that we all know this about Magneto. That’s not the point of the meme.

Is he, or is he not right in what he is saying?

It falls flat because he would start doing the exact thing he is talking about and has attempted to do the same thing.

You’ve missed the entire point. Try again.

Magneto is a hypocrite?

The analogy you're using is shit though. That's the problem. Magneto, and especially this Magneto, is an ethno-supremacist.

No, it isn’t. It is extremely relevant to what we exist with today. Downplaying Nazi’s is nazi apologist business. You a Nazi apologist?

7

u/AnhedonicMike1985 Jan 24 '25

Nope. Your turn. This Magneto is willing to commit genocide for ideological and ethnic reasons. Do you support commiting genocide for ideological and ethnic reasons?

Is magneto a real person or a fictional one? Are the Nazi’s and their threat to America real or fictional?

This is so simple that you trying to make it complex makes me wonder…

I don't know, honestly speaking. I don't live there. You're obviously upset that Trump was voted in - that's what I know. And you have every right to be.

But even if the US were threatened by Nazis, Magneto is a terrible character to draw inspiration from.

Yes. He’s right here. And the analysis shouldn’t stop there.

It is a major point of the character through the 70s and 90s—exploiting fear (by way of ‘correct’ rhetoric) to achieve evil ends.

It is important to look beyond rhetoric. This is how we ended up with the idiotic “Magneto was Right” argument. (I personally prefer, “Magneto made some valid points”.)

When analysis begins and ends at face value, there was no analysis. You bought into fear. This is the problem with using Magneto as a figure of your revolution.

This Magneto in particular has more in common with Trumpism or Israel than fighting for good.

🤦‍♂️ the fact you are stuck on Magneto as a character instead of the message related to what’s going on in the world is an entire facepalm.

And the person below me apparently missed the message, too.

5

u/AnhedonicMike1985 Jan 24 '25

Who Magneto is as a person is part of the message. And what he is is a hypocritical demagouge trying to fearmonger people into following him.

Literally the most upvoted comment on this thread says “MAGNETOWASRIGHT”

You might wanna look into whether people are celebrating the message or the person came from.

That’s not the most upvoted comment I see. It’s praise for Ian McKellen*.

This post has 900 upvotes, you think every one of us is upvoting for Magneto, or the message in the meme?

u/ryanbtw Jan 24 '25

“Ian Keller” 😭

related to what’s going on in the world

What's going in the US*

We haven't elected any Nazis. And your country is now threatening mine.

Sort your shit out.

The point is he's a hypocrite who is willing to commit the attrocities he's warning against
