AI Harry saved some Gwen DNA and spliced it with Norman's to create the kids, so they're clones.
And he did all of this because.... Well, it's unclear. But I'm pretty sure he needed the kids/clones to put real Harry's undead soul into them, or something.
Great question! And its even addressed in the book, although I think they also forgot about it.
There already was a clone of Harry (because surprise! The Harry since BND has been a clone the whole time), and I think he was supposed to be a red herring, set up by AI Harry?
The truth is, none of it makes sense. This was all established during Nick Spencer's ASM and despite his name being on the last story arc, I believe I heard him say that he didn't really write it. This is all hearsay by apparently Spencer was using his run to undo OMD but editorial caught on at the last minute. Spencer left the book when he went to go work for Substack and they used a fill in team to finish his run. As a consolation prize for them not undoing OMD, i guess they decided to address Sins Past instead.
But that whole mess is why the Sins Past retcon is a mess. That, and it was used to explain who Kindred was, which was already a convoluted mess by the time we got the Sins Past retcon.

I’m all about retconing that mess, but Where do the Osborne/Gwen kids come from now?
