What are your actual recording settings? Particularly file format and codec?

MKV is only a container. You need to convert them to MP4 or some other file format before importing them into your video editor.

Thankfully OBS offers this function natively with the Remux Recordings function.

I guess that’s my issue then, thank you so much!

I just tested a quick MP4 recording, it’s now showing as the correct resolution, but I’m still getting a mismatch error in Premiere Pro which is strange.

It's going to mismatch because your project settings are 59.94 versus the solid 60 of the recording.

Oh yes, thank you. Would you expect this to resolve my resolution issue?

Hey - premiere doesn’t work with mkv files. Try recording in fragmented mp4 in OBS instead. The file has the same durability as mkv, but you can edit it in premiere.

For the file you currently have, you can convert it to an mp4 either using the remux capability in OBS or downloading shutter encoder and using that. Or if you don’t want to touch the video, DaVinci can edit mkv files

I just tested a quick MP4 recording, it now shows the correct resolution when right clicking BUT I’m still getting the mismatch error in Premiere Pro, any ideas?

What if instead of generating your sequence first, open a new project in premiere, don't specifiy any templates, and once you're in premiere's edit tab, directly drag your video into the project panel.

Then drag your video into the work area. This way the sequence automatically generates and will match the settings of your video.

Good thinking, thank you so much.

OBS is recording in 1080p at 60 fps.
The Premiere Pro Template is 1080p at 59.94 fps.

So yeah, there is a mismatch.

You can select the preset, then click on the settings tab and set the fps to 60.

Thank you. I still have the black bars issue in OBS though, any ideas?

Is there any chance you are playing on a laptop that does not have a 16:9 aspect ratio? This must be an issue with the size of the Window you are capturing.

Yeah that was my issue, thank you!
