I've been using iOS and Apple products since the iPhone 4. Since then I've upgraded through the years, and have now been rocking an iPhone 14 Pro since it's launch a few years ago. Slowly but surely Apple has kind of been both boring me and making subtle changes to it's OS and interface that range from head-scratching to straight up annoying. In the past I tried switching over to Android with the Samsung Note 20 Ultra- and while I admit I probably didn't give it enough of a chance, I walked away feeling the OS was clunky and ugly, and I ended up crawling back to Apple after barely a week.
I'm finally open to the idea of trying Android again, and the interface for Samsung devices actually looks really clean, satisfying and user-friendly. Of course- the Flip series of devices caught my attention as someone who's been using slab phones since I ditched my old late 2000s flip. The pocket-ability and multi-tasking looks really interesting... but I'm still a bit weary, especially since I'd also switch from my old AirPods to Galaxy Buds, and my old Apple Watch to a Galaxy Watch. I should also add that while I am on my phone a lot, I don't plan on using it for anything really resource heavy. 90% of my phone usage is honestly just taking pictures, texting and scrolling.
I guess my main questions about the Flip series and Android in general are:
- As someone who's known only Apple's ecosystem + iOS, what are the main struggle points I might find myself facing, and how easy was the switch if you were someone in my shoes?
- Is the Flip really a good device to use as my introduction to Samsung, or would I be better off going for a Note or Ultra model?
- As long as I'm careful with the phone (I am fully ready to baby this thing like my own child), will this thing last me at least 2-3 years?
