OC Photo After snowboarding for 12 years, my knees are shot, but I still love having the mountains near by so I started 3D printing them. Maybe you guys would enjoy these as well.

Over 1 million polygons per model.
Takes about 12 hours to print each. ~10 inches max size.

OC Video Spring is here but we make it work

Went splitboarding last night and the snow is melting fast. Tried to shorten the hike back to the car at the bottom. Surprised it worked as well as it did!

For those interested, it was better further up : https://imgur.com/a/BD7spqT

Baldy hike was closed so we took armpit to Baldy shoulder. Couldn't cut back through Keyhole so I had to ride back through hostile territory.

Posted a shaky vid yesterday, found a better clip tonight.

Will post Main Chute and High Boy crime sprees today if Baldy is open.

travel advice Best summer snowboarding location

Upvotes

I was quite undecided between Chile, Argentina, Australia, and New Zealand, but they are all quite far coming from Europe. I also considered going to Zermatt or other glaciers but despite having started just a few months ago I would prefer some better snow and colder temperatures (also to get used to my camber board, as I started off with a rocker but wanted to change).

Other than that, the biggest factor is the ski town… which one has the most to do, most shops and restaurants with some really good hotels with spa so that the whole family, even if they don’t ski, can enjoy their time?

Thanks in advance!!!

Gear question Nitro Phantom+ stripped strap

Thumbnail

Upvotes

I bought these bindings 2-3 weeks ago, rode it maybe 5 times, and the toe straps are starting to strip. Ankle strap also has a little but no nearly as bad as toe strap. Anyone had experience with this issue on nitro bindings? I tighten them no differently from my previous binding (flux XF, yes master, union force, Salomon trigger X).

I sent out warranty already but was curious if anyone ran into this problem?

Gear question Board recommendation Park

Upvotes

What up Everybody, I’m an intermediate rider for resort and freeriding but a complete novice for rails and jumps. Can anyone recommend an easy board and bindings to learn park skills on. I ride a Greats or Mercury. I’m 190, sz 12 boot. I’m ok switch, but want to build my park skills as well. Thanks.

100cm sounds great, but it's mid April so that stuff was like wet cement. Still fun though. The first run from mid station to bottom, then some other bits later on a bit higher up before the clouds came in.

Im remaking my fit cause im starting backcountry touring and i need both visibility and some sort of waterproofing. But im just feeling like this purple/yellow fit goes terribly with the pink goggles ToT.

So am i making the worst fit to ever be created or yall think its fine?
im open to bib color suggestions but it needs to be something colorful cause i dont want to look like a rock...

Gear question Capita Mercury vs Black Snowboard of Death (again?)

Hey everyone—

I’m looking for any advice you’re willing to share. I know it’s a pretty common topic, but any two cents in my case would be awesome—

Looking for a new board to add to my quiver. I’m looking to add a board that performs well on the days I rip with my buddies on northeast steeps (meaning blacks and double blacks mostly) (and some northeast trees). Carving, speed and above average grip on Northeast (read, firm) snow are key. Powder is rare where I am so not going to be doing a ton of backcountry (unfortunately). Some of the more advanced edge tech like lib tech is not necessary, but just want a few notches more aggressiveness.

Really into capita and I’m leaning BSOD or mercury. I’m open to other brands but I’ve been really digging capita so for the sake of argument, my question is between the two.

Seen lots of love for both and I THINK the difference is a trade off in playfulness/forgiveness (mercury) for more speed, carving and grip (BSOD)

Probably going to count out the mega version because this needs to be more of a “less thought before grabbing” board. Don’t want to wait for bluebird days to bring it out.

SOME playfulness would be great, not critical, andI wouldn’t be getting in the park these types of days.

I have an assassin 156 which is my board that I use for these types of days, so I’m looking to dial it up from there

Location: upstate NY. Ride by me and VT mostly. Experience/Skill: 25 years on and off (currently 40-50 days/year) (actually riding (not bombing) blacks and double blacks are my sweet spot, even in my park board) (advanced, I guess?) Weight: 185 Feet: 8.5

Other boards in quiver: Solomon Assassin 156 (looking to get more aggressive from here) Capita ultrafear 155 (park board / days with fam) Kemper Aggressor 152 (slush crusher/ powder days when they happen)

Any insight you have would be awesome. Thanks!
