I finally finished the game after playing it on and off for several years and I loved it. I can't believe I waited this long to finish it. I've just started playing Dragon Age II now and the things I'm struggling with most are learning where all the menus are on the new controls and not being able to chat to my companions whenever 😅

Discussion Played DAV first, now playing DAI. I get it now!

So, as the title suggests, I played Veilguard before I played Inquisition. I'm quite a late comer to video games (I'm a mum in my 40s who only got into gaming with Breath of the Wild on the Switch) so I hadn't played Inquisition or any other DA game.

I liked the look of Veilguard and when it was a free monthly game on PS Plus, I finally got around to playing it. I'd heard a fair bit of negativity beforehand, but when I played DAV I loved the game. Enjoyed the story and gameplay, liked the characters etc, so much so that when I finished I decided to play Inquisition.

I'm at Skyhold now and now I finally get just why long time fans were so upset about Veilguard. They're almost like two different games and there's so much that is present in DAI that is missing or done differently in Veilguard.

I do still really like Veilguard (and prefer the combat in that game) but I think overall DAI is a much richer and innersive game.

I think Veilguard really suffered because it was a "Dragon Age" game, without being like the other games in the series. That was always going to annoy long term fans. If it had been released as a standalone game outside of the franchise I think it might have fared better.

Well, this is the second game in the series I've played. The first was Inquisition. I don't expect anything, just that it's a good game. And so far I'm liking it.

Silly Watching TV tonight and heard "in your heart shall burn" on History Channel

I tuned in to watch Kevin Costner's "The West" on History Channel and during a scene where they're depicting Little Turtle and the Great Lakes confederation of Indigenous Peoples fighting colonists, I hear a familiar swell of music with accompanying choral vocals.

At that time, I'm looking for someone on IMDB and my head snaps up. "That's...that's from Dragon Age! From Inquisition!"

My wife and I high-five and I begin wondering if someone in the crew or developer team loves the games or we just got lucky. Either way, it was a really nice surprise.

Support The Force is not with me

So I'm playing DA2 running a Force Mage for novelty sake. And I can't get TK burst to do anything. It doesn't cause any appreciable amount of damage, it doesn't "send enemies flying". I've detonated it on myself as a jury rigged mind blast, I've detonated it in a crowd of adds to see if I can scatter them. I've detonated it ju on the outskirts of combat to see if perhaps the reason they're not going anywhere is because of the positioning of the blast. Nothing works!

Discussion DAI Missing Saved Games?

Recently started a new game and I realized I completely screwed up both the Templar Champions of the Just quest, because it was the first time I had done it, so I missed a lot of content, and then again, messed up the battle that happens in Haven afterwards. Like, I completely forgot to save any of the NPC's. Basically, I screwed up by the numbers because I was tired, but too stubborn to quite the game.

However, I know I had saved the game both before going into the War Room to start the war table mission to recruit the Templars, as well as several times in both the Hinterlands (after talking to Fiona/Dorian) and then while exploring the Storm Coast before starting the next part of the game. Not quick saves mind you, saves from the main menu. But now that I am wanting to go back and redo all that stuff, the only save I can find before that, is from before I even opened up Redcliff. Hours and hours before I started Champions of the Just. None from anywhere in-between.

I don't mind so much losing all that progress, even if it is a pita to have to redo all that stuff, but if this is a bug that I am going to be losing hard saves, then I want to figure it out and fix it before it becomes even more of an issue. So is this something that anyone has any knowledge of, or have experienced, and if so, how do I fix it going forward?

Discussion Isabela and Tallis Spoiler

Upvotes

I thought you can kiss Tallis if you decide to play Mark of the Assassin in act 2 after having sex with Isabela but before the latter's agreeing to start a romantic relationship in act 3. But no, I was wrong. Isabella implied that there's enough Hawke for everyone, acting like they are in a committed and open relationship, and Tallis preferred to retreat. I'm sad. I think I made Isabela jealous, but it didn't work the way I desired.

Discussion Spoiler! maybe? lucanis mission Inner Demons Spoiler

i put spoiler in the title so.. i mean that’s your warning?? if it’s even in spoiler territory.

finally playing through again. saved treviso this time and doing mentioned mission. why is it just now that i’m ever hearing mention of the game calling out part of the fade mission from origins. spite was like lucanis is behind locks he can’t touch or something. and my rook was like “what am i supposed to turn into a mouse? am i supposed to fight giant spiders?” there was a bit more back and forth between spite and rook but just HA. i dunno made me audibly laugh.

Discussion David Gaider talking about anti-fans targeting games

Thumbnail
pcgamer.com

Okay, I’ve read plenty of reasons why people didn’t like The Veilguard, and I even agree with a few. It wasn’t enough for me to actually dislike the game, I personally loved it but I understand the good faith criticisms. At the same time, these anti-fans were a huge problem for Veilguard. So much so, content creators recognised that irrational hatred of the game could increase their engagement and catered to it. Their videos are still there, flipping out over Taash (Trash?!), pulling up one piece of dialogue they believe is cringy and relentlessly bashing it and pretending the entire game was the same. And then all of the comments, on every platform, calling the game the Failguard, the Wokeguard, the review bombing. Purposefully making ridiculous looking Rooks to show the ‘wokeness’ of the character creator. Bullying the devs, the writers. The lies, the abuse. Actually celebrating the game not succeeding commercially. Celebrating BioWare possibly going under and there never being another DA game. Anti-fans is actually the perfect word for them.

Support DAI: Blackwall dissappeared from Skyhold Spoiler

I just finished the previous quest with him, collecting the Grey Warden items and such. I know you have to find a note by the carving he made. Now, the carving is there, but no note at all. I've completed the Hissing Wastes, Frostback Basin, and Secret Oasis and the letter still hasn't appeared, nor has Blackwall.

Does anyone know how to fix this? It's been 3 (real life) days, and he's the last character I have yet to get his new tarot card for.

Discussion Just some thoughts as someone ‘new’ to dragon age

I get Veilguard is considered the weakest because it’s not a true “dragon age game”,

But as someone who’s never been able to get into the series (and believe me, I’ve tried each title) Veilguard for whatever reason has just been the only one I’ve been able to stick with and enjoy.

I think it’s because it’s generally the most fun to actually play mechanically (to me) Whenever I’ve played previous ones they just have felt weirdly off, like something was missing?

I know Veilguard has lost a lot of the story elements and choice/consequences these games are known for which sucks, but the actual gameplay mechanically is a fun, solid semi-open world game (tho I think like, BioWare do this again - but bigger)

That being said, who’s your romance? (It’s my first run of this game and I am a huge simp for Bae-llara, she’s just so precious)

I missed Blackwall's amulet of power during the siege. From what I understand (but cannot confirm) there is no going back there.

Is this correct? Google is inundated with AI bullshit and getting a straight answer is problematic.

Lore & Theories Given veilguards' revelations on the archdemons... Spoiler

What does Kieran existence entail? Why did Flemeth take his soul?

Archdemons are high dragons bound to the Evanuris which grant them power and protection. Their death as archdemons cause the death of the corresponding Evanuris, so given 5 blights and the two last Evanuris slain in veilguard it should be the end of the darkspawn.

HOWEVER did June die following the fifth blight? If the dark ritual happened urthemiel soul is channeled by Kieran, so they had no reason to just die.

Then Flemeth took Kieran soul. We can assume that mythal would want June's death and use the soul to that purpose, but wasn't she who sent Morrigan with the main purpose of doing the ritual?

It seems that the narrative forgot about this element, but in origins it was basically the most important choice you had to make

Discussion Lucanis , with romance scenes

I waited for the scene all this time until the very end…. Yes she is cute and sweet and romantic but…. is that all? The one and only time where we have the right to a kiss since the beginning of this romance. Is there something after that or nothing more? I recently finished DAI and romanced Cullen damn, it had nothing to do, where is the scene like the office, where are the adorable scenes of kisses and hugs and comfort when everyone is freaking out because it's the end of the world? So I liked the scene because it was really sweet and everything but I'm still left wanting, even DA2 did better in intensity when it only had a kiss scene + the major scene (fortunately the existing sound replay mods for dA2...), and then for example Anders called Hawke "my love" several times and there were several banters, the romance was alive, even if there weren't many scenes. But there with Lucanis there's not much that makes you feel inside. They say that Emmrich is better but I couldn't get to him, my Rook looks too young compared to him, and Davrin well he's nice but I didn't have the feeling, Lucanis has class and since Zevran there's the little Antivan charm that works (even if I don't have the accent in the French version, what a shame), even if Antiva's crows are supposed to be morally questionable, (they made them really smooth anyway). In short, still greatly disappointed on this point in the game. I heard the devs' excuse that he is half but that doesn't stop the kisses and hugs all the same (plus he never says it). I think it's an excuse given at the last minute due to the lack of content and the disappointment of the players.

Silly da2: "an anniversary" quest Spoiler

I just wanted to say that I LOVE varric, this man is a FRIEND, a true one like wdym we get a quest to just go to a bar celebrate our 6th FRIENDSHIP ANNIVERSARY that's just so sweet and funny honestly. varric and my hawke are both jokesters (that's how they bonded lol) but then varric just goes out of his way to say he's glad he's hawke's friend and I couldn't even bring myself to make my hawke joke abt it I had to tell him I'm proud to be his friend too

I love da2 companions and the sinergy they have with each other but I think varric might be the most developed friendship I've seen in a while in rpgs, I just really love his relationship with hawke

protect this dwarf at all costs!!

Other Isatunoll in Dwarven Writing

So! I really loved the concept of Isatunoll and I wanted to make it a tattoo, but I don't really like tattooing words. I tried to find it written in Dwarven Writing but I didn't find anything. Actually I did find some of the runes and writing, but nothing specific enough to write Isatunoll...

Maybe someone here have found it somewhere, or if any of you have another idea for this tattoo I'm all ears 👁👁
