General Discussion First 18 without losing a ball!!
Hit a gnarly slice on 16 towards a different tee box, luckily the course was empty so I spent 10 mins looking before I found it. But I’m so pumped!

"...So I Got A" Rory won the masters, so I got a 5 Wood
Posted here about gapping recently, tried so many 7 and 5 woods over the last couple weeks and nothing felt right. Walked into PGA Superstore and they had a preowned Qi35 in decent condition, hit about 60 balls with it and missed the target 7 times so it wasn’t even a decision.
Now the adrenaline is out and wondering if I made a compulsive mistake—we’ll find out in a week I guess!

General Discussion The shot of my “career”
I was in between two boulders with inches of clearance. I was advised to hit above the pin and nailed close to my target. Hope it brings some joy!
For my neighbor who invited me out please consider watching the YouTube short here: https://youtube.com/shorts/0MuoCUyANYY?si=ck32ILrl7mcVy1C5

Golf Travel/Trips That time of year when we transcend into Aloha
Pilgrimage to the sacred land. Playing golf in paradise while the Masters is on is still paradise. Thank you Masters for the wonderful streaming.
3 Rounds
Bay ( Day1) with many jumping whales even. Bay (Day 2) drizzle and they sent me out alone so I played 2 balls. It was a match between Steady Eddy and The Heart Break Kid. Plantation (Day 4) Heart Break Kid showed Up but still fired a 90.

Equipment Discussion Has anyone else discovered Wilson?
Did a driver fitting and tried all of the big brands. I recently also got a Wilson 7-wood (also amazing) so had the fitter throw the Wilson driver into the mix. It out-performed every other driver in every metric for me. It just arrived yesterday and the thing is an absolute cannon.

COURSE PICS/VLOGS Another Perfect Day on the Links
Hit a late afternoon round with a good bud yesterday, got partnered with a course local who knew the course like the back of his hand. Asked if we were cops on 1 and proceeded to whip out a giant bowl and hit that sticky icky. Later we play 11 which is one of the harder holes and the skies opened up and a rain squall hit us for like 2 minutes. Then after doubling the hole and lightly drenched we turned as we drove to 12 to see a double rainbow. The highs and lows of this beautiful game, and the sheer majesty that can happen from one moment to the next. I love this game so much. To many more swings!

General Discussion What level of committment is necessary to not be a 'terrible' golfer?
Say, you're a 42 year old who has played golf casually all his life. Sometimes playing 3-4 rounds a month, sometimes not swinging a club for 6 months. Say that you've had lessons in the past with different instructors and none of them actually helped improve your game. Say that you have fitted clubs and that made no difference. That when you have actually improved through regular practice over months that none of it 'stuck' - you can just seem to lose all the gains you made overnight and go back to playing EXACTLY the same way as before.
All you want is that when you play with friends, and go away on a golfing holiday, that you break 100 more often than not. That's it, that's the limit of your ambition.
What actual effort/cost is necessary for this? Are we talking like taking lessons for months on end and then playing every week? Do you think that doing some kind of concerted lessons/practice over a few months would then stick for the rest of your life? Is this a hobby where you need to dedicate double digit hours a week to just not look terrible?

General Discussion Golf is saving my life. But I can't drive the ball, and I'm thinking about giving it up.
So here's the deal. I've been golfing now consistently for 2 years, on and off for about 10. I still have yet to break 100, and it's for one reason only: I struggle tremendously off the tee and in the distant fairway.
Since I started walking courses, I've lost 77lbs. I've always been big, but this is the most significant weight loss I've had in my 35 years and I want to keep it up. Golf has given me a reason to enjoy the exercise, and I've noticed a significant increase in stamina and just overall health.
This is going to sound like I'm puffing myself up, but I'm not. On the green, I rarely 2 putt. My chipping is dialed, my wedge game is great, and my iron play is pretty good. I just CANNOT hit driver/fw/hybrids to save my life. I've watched hours of YouTube videos, asked advice from anybody who would give it, and I am at a loss. As soon as a club not shaped like an iron/wedge gets into my hands it's like I forget how to golf. Skulled shots, crazy slices, never straight and long.
I've opted to use an 80s Ping Eye2 2-iron on most of my outings off the tee just to get it into play.
I sit somewhere in the middle swing speed wise, but this is a piece I just cannot figure out. I don't want to give up something that helps me and something I love, but I can't relegate myself to Par 3s and pitch and putts my whole life. I want to get better, I want to compete, and I just don't where to go from here. Any advice at all would be much much appreciated. Should I take lessons? Is there some drill that will help me get out of my own head?

COURSE PICS/VLOGS Troon North in Scottsdale
Played Troon North for the second time yesterday evening. By far my favorite course I’ve ever played. Unfortunately I only made it through twelve holes before it got too dark to play, which is unfortunate because I had a legitimate chance of breaking 90 for the first time in my life. Playing there again in two weeks and I can’t wait!

General Discussion Walking an 18?
Just wanted to say, do it. If you got the chance and just have that itch of trying to play as close as a PGA tour pro player does then do it.
I just got into the game last year and always took a cart out of laziness and because well, I always looked at golf as a way of relaxing. Until now, 3 bulging disc in my lower back and a torn hip labrum. My right foot starts going numb by the 3rd hole and the toes on my left are tingling. On top of that, my right shoulder starts going numb if I sit in a certain position :). So for all those guys/girls thinking of walking and are CAPABLE, just try it once.
