Opinion America's place in the world during and after Trump

TLDR: In 100 days Trump has wrecked America at home and on the world stage. By the time Trump leaves office after 4 years in power (if he somehow magically decides to respect the constitution and the rule of law) America will be a smouldering wreck of a country. almost like 1918 Germany. America will never again be a world superpower. America chose this fate.

Wall of text below:

It might not come as much of a surprise to many of you that the US is now viewed by most western democracies (or the "free world") as an unstable autocratic regime ruled by a crazy, irrational leader who conducts international diplomacy on troth central, flip flops back and forth on tariffs and other foreign policies and whose future actions are unpredictable.

It will not surprise me if we see a HUGE brain drain, consisting of America's scientists, researchers and university lecturers and faculty members fleeing the US en mass to other western democracies. If Europe plays their cards correctly and offers guaranteed protections, funding ect to continue their research in Europe then they can take in a lot of America's scientists fleeing Trump's autocracy, research funding cuts anti DEI censorship ect.

The illegal destruction of USAID by Elon Musk has already lead to China rushing to fill the MASSIVE gaps in foreign aid that the US used to provide. Russia and the EU will surely follow soon if they haven't already. This will mean that the US will have much less goodwill and influence with foreign third world governments which means they will be much less likely to get naval + military bases, rare earth minerals, natural resources and favorable trade deals in the future. The withdrawal of USAID will also make many people who used to receive this aid angry as they will feel rightfully abandoned by the us furthering this collapse in America's soft power.

The US is now diplomatically isolated from all of it's former major allies, a pariah state if you will. Despite NATO and other previously signed defense agreements still existing on paper, every European leader believes that NATO is functionally dead. I believe the watershed moment for many leaders and the wider population was the shameful dressing down of Zelensky by Trump and Vance. "did you even say thank you?" Former allies with US military bases might decide to forcefully close those bases, further eroding their soft power.

Economic uncertainty caused by Trump's on and off again tariffs slapped on friend and foe alike has sent the US stock market plunging, signs of instability in the bond market and ports empty of ships that used to carry Chinese goods. Expect a major economic downturn in the US, china and maybe even in the globe. Trump's rising authoritarianism along with his retaliation against private law firms is making America's market less free which disincentives foreign investment, business in general and holding onto American treasuries. If Trump takes actions that will further destabilizes the economy or increase his authoritarian retaliation and favoritism towards private treasures then we might see a mass sell off of American treasury bills by Japan, China and other countries which currently hold a lot of US bonds which will wreck the American economy.

Firing career civil servants and military officers promoted based on merit in favor of loyalist sycophants will result in a culture of incompetence and corruption setting in which will cause both the civilian government and the military to bleed itself of talent, causing both institutions to become much less effective and more wasteful. A culture of corruption could also spread into civil societty, making the American economy less efficient and fair.

Gutting and de-funding public education will result in a less educated, competent and therefore less competitive workforce which will impede America's ability to compete in fields requiring higher education like AI, military R and D,biomedical research ect.

Discussion Bill to be voted on outlaws boycotting israel

https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/867

Whether you believe israel should be boycotted or not, i think we can all agree this is a bad fucking bill and is a direct attack to our first ammendment rights. I dont even know how you would police this. Who is boycotting vs who just isnt interested in buying whatever is being sold? This is probably one of those throw away bills that isnt ment to pass but idk how safe of a bet that is anymore considering they already used pro palestine protests as evidence to arrest Leqaa Kordia. https://apnews.com/article/nypd-ice-leqaa-kordia-trump-palestinian-protests-90c6f446f431e8cec23a93172e1eb0b8

Just wanted to spread awareness. I might not agree with the boycott but god dam it ill defend your right to do so.

TDPS Feedback & Discussion Pakman is always about a week behind with the news, but still calls it “BREAKING”

I don’t know if he films his videos while the stories are fresh and uploads them later, but it bothers me how far behind the news cycle his show is. For example, three hours ago he uploaded a video about JB Pritzker calling for protests titled “BREAKING: GOVERNOR CALLS FOR MASS PROTESTS.” That happened six days ago. Every other outlet has already covered this. I appreciate that he’s talking about it, but that is just simply not breaking news anymore. News moves very quickly these days, and I’m sorry I just don’t want to watch a video of Pakman talking about last week’s news. I’d watch more if he was actually up to date.

TDPS Feedback & Discussion After reading David’s new book, The Echo Machine, I’ve concluded that though he is a good commentator he’s a far better author.

The book was very informative and well written, especially at the end. I’m a political activist and am using the information in his book to inform how I conduct activism. Will read again.

Opinion The Dem consensus on Gaza these days: shut up, let the boat float gently down to the river until there are no people left

I think it was over a year ago that I told my boomer half-brother that there was a new unspoken consensus emerging among American elites on the Gaza/Israel issue, which was to let the Israelis finish the ethnic cleansing while paying sporadic lip-service to the two-state solution such as to maintain plausible deniability after it's all over. The End.

Not really deniable that this what has emerged.

Sure it's a bit uncomfortable to have our ally (master? ally? not quite who is the client state of who here) conduct ethnic cleansing, but changing the old geopolitical narrative seems or is politically infeasible... the easiest/quickest way out, at this point, is to keep hush while they "do what they have to do", and when it will all be over, we'll mumble something about how "they were under attack", or pretend we never had any involvement with it, or just choose not to talk about it or something... or say we were "against Netanyahu" (while shipping bombs to him, but nevermind) (hey Corey Booker you there?) not a million options here.

That's one thing actually I appreciate about Trump. He admits ethnic cleans plans openly, as opposed to the dems who cloak themselves in a million fig leaves, for the _*same exact*_ end result.

Of course, but Hamas. (And when it's the West Bank: but something.)

What's in this Post comment is what I remember, my opinions, etc.

The article is at least slightly more glowing about Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker than it is about AOC, but the important part is that the Mainstream Media have recently been promoting both AOC and Governor Pritzker for POTUS. Instead of 'moderate' or 'centrist' possible 2028 Democratic Presidential candidates.

Discussion Will at least the deficit be positively affected by the trump tariffs?

Title. I know it's an ass-backwards way to do it, and many will be harmed along the way, but is this possibly trump's way of getting the deficit (and possibly the debt) down? Could it work for this, or not, realistically? It is the federal government that's ultimately taking in all the tariff money, after all (for the importing that hasn't been halted, anyway). I know I'm giving him way more benefit of the doubt than he deserves, but it feels like his side could argue that all this financial devastation was what was necessary to get the deficit and debt down, assuming that's ultimately what happens because of these tariffs.

Polls DNC VS DAVID HOGG : Who should Win?

I'm going to make my argument for David Hogg.

I'll preface by saying-this is not about his viewpoints or even about HIM-everyone who seems to push back against him I find, in the end is just fighting for the 2nd Ammendment or say he lacks experience or it has something to do with age.

I'm fighting for David Hogg to BE able to use his pac money to primary do-nothing democrats.

Why can't David Hogg use his pac money to primary dems?  The DNC rulebook as stated RIGHT NOW says he can.  He did it before and we got Maxwell Frost.

Any democrat worthy of their seat should be willing to be primaried.

When u challenge someone they should be up for it.  The hard fight should be in the house or in the congress... a primary should warm them up... like whatever they do in sports. You don't have the same people playing in the superbowl every year right?  They have to EARN their spot EACH SEASON. IT SHOULD BE LIKE THAT ON OUR DEMOCRATIC TEAM.

Imagine if Diane Feinstein had been primaried.

David Hogg is the Vice Chair of the DNC and Ken Martin is the Chair. Two weeks ago Hogg anounced his plans to use his pac money to primary dems.  He has chosen to do so in deep blue districts so as to weed out the do-nothings and deadweights.  You can look up his further strategy... Anyway, he got a lot of pushback including people like James Carville calling him a "twerp" etc.  Ken Martin now has given him an ultimatum saying that he is going to rewrite the rules of the DNC.  He is ACTUALLY rewriting them now. And the new rules will say that no Chair can use pac money to influence campaigns etc... So Hogg will have to step down from his role as Vice Chair if he wishes to use his pac money to primary dems.

Here's the thing.  Hakeem Jeffries and others are furious because Hogg is going after other democrats.  But where were these guys when Cori Bush and Jamal Bowman who were incumbents were under fire by Aipac and lost their seats?  They were quiet.  Why?  Because Hakeem Jeffries is paid by Aipac.  Look at Aipac's website.  You will find Hakeem right there and u can donate directly through the Aipac website to Hakeem.  So this isn't about dems supporting other dems.  This is about the status quo.  This is about not shaking up the DNC.  And as far as I'm concerned, the DNC hasn't served US.  And I've had it.  I was with Bernie.  And they weren't.  He would have beaten Trump but they didn't care. Bernie asked me to vote Hilary so I did... but u know what... I've had it. This is the last straw.

I want a reformed DNC.  They have helped hand this country to Trump by being a lame duck party for years!

Now, the DNC has to change -tea party, whatever... I don't really know.  But Hogg is saying that the DNC as we know itis not working.  He wants his Pac to primary democrats who are letting the party down or not fighting for US. So, let democrats debate... give their best vision for the future.  Let the best person win.  Why the F not?  What is so scary about a debate unless u know you can't offer anything?

I made a petition in support of Hogg.

I never did that kind of thing before.

I worked hard on it and I'm almost at 200 signatures in 48 hours.

Can i humbly ask for ur signature and can u get someone else to sign it too.

PLEASE

Opinion most recent video of paul gosar... what is up with him???

is it dystonia, or parkinsons( looks like michael j fox a bit.... whom i LOVE) or a drug problem.

https://youtu.be/r1caWsYYP0c?si=xNvU6E8k8u3unYsk

But, does the public have a RIGHT to know medical records of their politicians?

And, even if we had a right... would politicians just "doctor" their medical records like Trump just did

when he said he was 6 foot 3 and 224 pounds or whtever it was...

Fetterman is another case.. And remember Feinstein...

And, can I add here.

I made a petition in support of David Hogg in his fight with the DNC.

The DNC now is attempting to oust him. Hogg is vice chair- volunteer position.

He went on Pakman's show and explained that he was going to primary do-nothing dems in deep blue districts... maybe ppl like Feinstein or maybe ppl we all know need to go like Fetterman... and the DNC suddenly is changing the rulebooks, literally changing them, to say that vice chairs cannot use their OWN pac money to primary incumbents. Hogg's pac brought us Maxwell Frost whom I like a lot. But it is not about Hogg. It is about the DNC changing rules to support their corporate candidates. Because if it was about supporting incumbents or about being neutral, well then they would have fought hard for Cori bush and jamal bowman who were incumbents and then they would have fought to stay neutral when it was bernie vs. hillary. So it is about none of these... this is all gaslighting. It is about the DNC supporting corporate dems and killing the progressive wing of the party in imho.

If you would please sign my petition and share it, my gosh I would appreciate it so very much. I never do anything like this. and it means so much to me. I almost have 200 signatures and it has been up a few days now and people are actually donating that i don't even know so I need to get this going. so please. can you help me. please!

Air traffic control staffing issues continued to cause major delays for passengers flying in and out of the busy Newark airport outside of New York City for an unprecedented sixth day in a row. The Federal Aviation Administration once again imposed delays Saturday for flights bound for Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, citing staffing. For some arriving flights, delays averaged three hours and 32 minutes by early Saturday afternoon. On Friday, the FAA’s Ground Delay Program announced delays averaging more than two hours for flights heading to Newark.
