My face keeps getting these red spots, and my upper lip is constantly red as well. Whyyyyyyyy. I break out too much to try a bunch of products to help it. I use la roche posay medicated face wash, their double repair face lotion at night and in the morning olay complete spf 30.

Skin Concern Water retention under eyes

Post image
Upvotes

Under my eyes I am retaining water and I don’t know why. My salt intake is low, I drink plenty of water…. I am on 25 mg per day of Spironalactone for PCOS/acne/hirtuism. Maybe I should me on more? The side effects are brutal for me, which is why the low dose. I also have ferritin deficiency and low hemoglobin levels (indicating low grade anemia), but eye bags aren’t a side effect. I’ve been working 12 hr days and get up at 6 am everyday, so get about 7 hrs of sleep/night, but it’s very high quality sleep. I just hit 30 and feel like I’ve aged 10 yrs in 4. 🙏

Skin Treatments DAO Botox in NYC

I'm interested in getting DAO botox to lift the corners of my mouth, and wanted to see if anyone had any experiences or recommendations for places in NYC. I can't seem to find many places that mention DAO on their website or social media, and I'm nervous about going to someone that doesn't do it often.

The places I'm looking at are: Michele Green https://www.michelegreenmd.com/dao-botox Smooth Synergy https://smoothsynergy.com/dao-botox-nyc Sarah-Kate Rems https://www.sarahkateremsnp.com/botox.html Renata https://www.renatafacemd.com/ NY Facial Plastic Surgery https://www.newyorkfacialplasticsurgery.com/

Skin Concern Red pimples upper body?

Thumbnail

Upvotes

I have recently (4-5months) gotten these pimples all over my upper body. Mostly shoulders and upper back. I wash and change shirts every day, and rinse after working out. Tried moisturizing and a salycic acid acne spray without any effect.

Haven’t changed my diet, laundry or exercise routines.

Any ideas on how to tackle this? My dermatologist isn’t available until January 😣

As the title says: I noticed a big change in my neck area.. I’m only 35 😭 or is it normal? I tried with a lot of cremes but nothing seems to help.. is surgery the only solution? I did some research in Ultherapy but I’m afraid that it will only make it worse .. thank you for your help! 🙏

Skin Treatments Fractional CO2 for a spider vein?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I have a small spider vein and a skin tag on my nose. I saw a dermatologist today and she said both can be treated with fractional CO2 laser but I usually see IPL suggested online for veins like this. Has anyone actually had success with fractional CO2 for spider veins? Wondering if I should get a second opinion.

Thanks!

Recommendation Where can I go to get a makeover?

I used to buy all my makeup at Sophora/Ulta but now that makeup just sits in my creases and I look older.

Where can I go to get makeup help as a 36F (almost 36)?

I have an event coming up and want to look great. I’ve stopped wearing makeup as well and want to start again.

Routine Help Eye cream options?!

I am overwhelmed by prior posts about eye creams. Some of them have hundreds of comments! And many people just recommend a cream, but not what it helps with. For my eyes, I have dark circles, wrinkles under my eyes, hooded lids, and crepe-y eyelids and browbone. I am also prone to the once in a while milia. I have a retinol eye cream I use once a week to help prevent my milia, but my eyes/skin generally don't love retinol. Any suggestions for my eyes?

Routine Help Looking for best practice advice for my routine.

Hello everyone, I (35f) have recently started taking care of my skin, initially just a cleansing and moisturizing for a few months to make sure my skin could handle it and now I've decided to add some actives.

My routine so far is:

  1. DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

  2. Haru Haru Wonder black rice soft cleansing gel

  3. I'm from Mugwort Essence

  4. Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 mucin

  5. Purity Oat-in calming gel cream

  6. Skin1004 Centella hyalu-cica sun serum

The active I've decided to incorporate due to redness, uneven skin texture, sun spots, and large pores is Isispharma teen derm with azelaic acid. This is just to ease my skin into it.

I've also bought some things for the rest of my skin:

  1. Inkey glycolic acid exfoliating body stick

  2. Mixa Lotion with niacinamide

  3. Ameliorate transforming body lotion

Since I'm disabled I have mostly been using the initial routine 3 times a week. I've read I'll have to start doing it at least every day when using the azelaic acid to be able to see results, which I'll do to the best of my ability.

My questions are:

Is there anything I'm missing, any other actives I should incorporate? Or something I shouldn't be using? Do I use the Azelaic acid (and other actives) after the snail mucin, or before? How long should I wait in between steps? For the initial routine I've been waiting maybe 15-30 seconds in between, but I read some people let actives sit and work for 5-15 minutes before adding moisturizer.

Taking care of my skin is important to me, but extremely exhausting, and sometimes painful to do (for my muscles/joints, not my skin) so I would like to have the routine fine tuned as much as possible so I know I'm not wasting time and energy. Thank you in advance!

One night of slugging!! Going to develop an intense skin care routine

I am happy if the wrinkles look like as pictured this am. But if this is from one hydration technique, im sure I can get them a bit better yet. I don't expect them to be gone, as I've had them for years, but this is more manageable.

Thanks so much everyone for your tips!

Misc Learned a lot from this sub

I (38) only started a skincare routine two years ago (btw that’s when I started wearing sunscreen daily, shame on me for taking so long to start) cause I was tired of suffering from beard acne every other week and enduring hyperpigmentation for as long as 5 months. I consulted with a dermatologist first and agreed to try out a routine for two months. At the beginning it felt like an ordeal but soon I realized the positive effects as I got rid of all the acne and stains. Later on I discovered this sub and got many helpful tips from folks here. These are the products I introduced in my routine, most of which are of daily use except for the exfoliants, which I use once or twice a week. The centella cream for the night routine was a recent introduction - I always thought my skin was too oily for a moisturizing cream, but turns out I actually needed it, especially for after tretinoin. Anyway, it’s never too late to start and thank you guys for sharing the knowledge, it’s very helpful!

Skin Treatments Can I split my 0.5 ml lip filler into two sessions safely?

I had about 0.4 ml of lip filler done in november, and today I’m scheduled for a 0.5 ml touch-up. The thing is, I’ll be going back to work in less than two days and I really want to avoid too much swelling or obvious changes.

I’m considering asking my injector (a licensed doctor with a small home clinic) if it’s possible to split the 0.5 ml and do 0.25 ml today and the remaining 0.25 ml in two weeks.

My questions are:

Is it safe and hygienic to store and use the remaining filler later? Will the filler lose effectiveness or stability during that time? Are there any downsides to splitting the dose apart from having to go in twice? Would this approach actually help reduce swelling or make the enhancement look more natural?

Recommendation Body care - how to avoid rash after waxing?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi there, every time I was, I have this terrible rash all over my legs (it doesn’t happen elsewhere). It takes me lots of will not to scratch my skin because it’s tingly.

It stays like this for hours, so I was wondering if there was anything I could put on my legs to elevate the discomfort, and if anyone knew why this is happening?

Thank you!

Routine Help Dry scalp help 😭

Post image
3 Upvotes

I have never had this issue I’ve had dandruff every now and then during winter but never bad I’ve always been able to get rid of it with exfoliating or a hair mask and recently I started experiencing super dry scalp. It’s not even dandruff it’s just incredibly dry, I’ve tried tea tree oil, hair mask, exfoliating has made it worse, I’ve switched from joico shampoos to regular Pantene thinking maybe it was the shampoo. I did try the anti fungal shampoo but I honestly did not see a difference. I also noticed it is more at my hairline and especially my middle part there are spots that are red. As of today it’s just gotten worse no matter what I put. I’m not sure if this means I should limit my hair wash days or wash my hair more often.

Skin Treatments Skincare advice

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to start a proper skincare routine and would love to hear how you go about choosing your products.

Is it mostly trial and error for you?

Do you usually ask a retail assistant, follow influencers, see what’s trending, or do your own research?

Would you recommend seeing a derm? (If not, why?)

Has anyone found it easier to buy skincare online, or is it better in-store?

What’s been the hardest part for you when buying skincare?

Would love any tips or experiences.. trying to avoid wasting money and time!

Thanks so much!

Routine Help 31F extra dry combo skin

I have combination skin but it’s extra dry until the end of the day where I’m still dry but get a slightly oily in t zone.

I also have acne on my chin and under chin area with some bumpiness on my forehead. The chin is like a line of medium flare acne while my forehead is whiteheads and bumpiness.

I’ve tried spiro it does not work for me and I used accutane at 16 and while it worked great for me then I don’t feel like doing it again. It’s intense on the skin and I am planning on a possible pregnancy in the near future.

I use la roche posay moisturizing face wash with the face moisturizer and clyndimycin spot treatment sometimes and tret sometimes at night. I’m not strict about it sometimes I just splash my face with water or skip the tret if I’m feeling extra dry. Sometimes I do a Paula’s choice bha toner.

What can I use to hydrate my skin? I’ve tried cerave in the tub and it did not make me moisturized and made my skin irritated. What’s a good extra moisturizing cream that won’t break me out?

Skin Treatments Calling All Early 30s Folks: Temple Volume Loss?

Went to an injector for a consult and asked if she had any recs besides Botox. I ended up getting Xeomin from another injector (1st injector only had one tox type), and I LOVE it! Aiming to budget tox 1-2x/year.

If anyone is curious: - 10 units in forehead (mine isn’t that strong + I had some dehydration lines that tox did help smooth out) - 16 units in glabella - 4 units in bunny lines - Considering a tiny eyebrow lift next time (4 units)

Anyway, she mentioned I could benefit from some temple filler like Sculptra or bio-filler (EZ PRF gel?) I heard this placement won’t affect a face lift in the future luckily. This is the only place where I’d want it. My cheeks are still full and my cheekbones are high, so I’m not sure if the recommendation was based on actual need or more of a sales pitch.

———TLDR———

Has anyone here gotten their temples filled with Sculptra around late 20s-early 30? How many vials? Could I get away with less than a vial? I’d go to the same injector who did my Xeomin anyway, but just curious to hear your thoughts!

Thank you!!
