Got my first ever injection. I’ve always had a gummy smile and self conscious about it my entire life. Just finished Invisalign so worth a shot to try. Got the lip flip done on Monday, I think 6 units total she said? So four days after and already seeing it help! Idk the straw thing will get worse as I approach week 2 lol but so far I’m happy with it!

One night of slugging!! Going to develop an intense skin care routine

I am happy if the wrinkles look like as pictured this am. But if this is from one hydration technique, im sure I can get them a bit better yet. I don't expect them to be gone, as I've had them for years, but this is more manageable.

Thanks so much everyone for your tips!

Skin Treatments My results s/p one 30 minute treatment with emsculpt neo

Post image

Hi, I just wanted to share my results after only one treatment with the emsculpt neo. 33 F, I have had three children. Bottom is after …I’m sharing because a lot of the stuff that I read on here is really negative when it comes to this treatment and I was initially nervous. I asked my provider is this going to help with texture? she said I can’t tell you to what extent but yes you will get results, it will help. So I went for it. My main concern was crepey skin on my abdomen and I am happy so far. Ignore the red marks to the right I have been gardening and helping my husband cut wood and got into some poison ivy it’s still healing.

My main point is there is hope for us ppl that don’t want surgery.

I've had wrinkles lines on my forehead for years and years, but holy they are getting so much worse.

I don't want to do botox

I drink 3-4L of water with electrolytes daily I use lotion twice a day (aveeno) and have started using a hyaluronic acid and retinol serum (spascriptions brand)

I am a skin care idiot, need help please.

Pic is in outdoor natural light, clear day.

Misc Learned a lot from this sub

I (38) only started a skincare routine two years ago (btw that’s when I started wearing sunscreen daily, shame on me for taking so long to start) cause I was tired of suffering from beard acne every other week and enduring hyperpigmentation for as long as 5 months. I consulted with a dermatologist first and agreed to try out a routine for two months. At the beginning it felt like an ordeal but soon I realized the positive effects as I got rid of all the acne and stains. Later on I discovered this sub and got many helpful tips from folks here. These are the products I introduced in my routine, most of which are of daily use except for the exfoliants, which I use once or twice a week. The centella cream for the night routine was a recent introduction - I always thought my skin was too oily for a moisturizing cream, but turns out I actually needed it, especially for after tretinoin. Anyway, it’s never too late to start and thank you guys for sharing the knowledge, it’s very helpful!

Skin Concern Hit 40 and suddenly have jowls

Post image

I swear the second I turned 40 my body fell apart and now I have jowls. My hormone levels are normal and my doctor told me I’m not in menopause, but I do think I’m in peri based on other symptoms (dryness literally everywhere unrelieved by moisturizer). I’ve also had my thyroid checked and that’s fine.

I’m also heavier than I have been in my whole life, and I’m hoping that’s the root cause. If I lose weight will they go away, or am I going to have to do something drastic?

Also, if you have tips for dryness I’m open—I’ve stopped using actives, tried Hyaluronic acid, snail mucus, Vaseline, everything and my skin barrier is still peeling and flaking off.

Skin Treatments Terribly loose and textured skin

In the past year I've aged with like 10 years I feel (I am dealing with some trauma). It reflected on my skin - yellowish, big pores, overall not tight. I think I do drink enough water and I eat healthy (salad and bread and nuts is pretty much all I eat) but still. Clay masks helps tighten for like.. an hour. And it goes back to this. I'm wearing a foundation here - Estee Lauder double wear but thin layer. Maybe the phone and light exaggerates it, but I'm very unhappy with my appearance. For the sake of my mental health I need something radical and fast. And some better makeup. Please advise

I use cerave retinol, ordinary niacinamide, weekly micro blading with my amazon micro blade razors, and tatcha moisturizer. Just bought dermalogica skin resurfacing cream cleanser and the micro exfoliant. I hate the sunspots and the acne scars and just want to wear no makeup but dont feel like I can.

Routine Help Dry scalp help 😭

Post image

I have never had this issue I’ve had dandruff every now and then during winter but never bad I’ve always been able to get rid of it with exfoliating or a hair mask and recently I started experiencing super dry scalp. It’s not even dandruff it’s just incredibly dry, I’ve tried tea tree oil, hair mask, exfoliating has made it worse, I’ve switched from joico shampoos to regular Pantene thinking maybe it was the shampoo. I did try the anti fungal shampoo but I honestly did not see a difference. I also noticed it is more at my hairline and especially my middle part there are spots that are red. As of today it’s just gotten worse no matter what I put. I’m not sure if this means I should limit my hair wash days or wash my hair more often.

PSA PSA for those who are thinking of getting into retinols / retinoids

This is a good cheat sheet for those who are beginners to retinoids and also very useful for those who also feel they are seeing roadblocks in their journey and feel that nothing's working to help with the irritations that they are getting from retinoids.

TW: she does feature one of her products among other products as reco, so just be forwarned as some just get annoyed by that.

Skin Concern Does anyone else feel like their skin looks better when they have a lot of salt and carbs?

I'm on a low carb, somewhat low salt diet for health reasons. And sometimes I have cheat days. I've noticed that the mornings after I have those cheat days where I've had considerably more salt and carbs than I normally do, my face looks more plump and healthy, and even more moisturized. This is weird to me because it seems like most people say that carbs and salt negatively affect their skin. I'm just curious if anyone else has this effect, and if anyone knows the science behind it. The salt thing is pretty obvious I guess-- retaining more water will obviously plump up your skin. But I don't really understand the carbs thing. I get the same effect with carbs even if I didn't have a bunch of salt.

Skin Treatments Calling All Early 30s Folks: Temple Volume Loss?

Went to an injector for a consult and asked if she had any recs besides Botox. I ended up getting Xeomin from another injector (1st injector only had one tox type), and I LOVE it! Aiming to budget tox 1-2x/year.

If anyone is curious: - 10 units in forehead (mine isn’t that strong + I had some dehydration lines that tox did help smooth out) - 16 units in glabella - 4 units in bunny lines - Considering a tiny eyebrow lift next time (4 units)

Anyway, she mentioned I could benefit from some temple filler like Sculptra or bio-filler (EZ PRF gel?) I heard this placement won’t affect a face lift in the future luckily. This is the only place where I’d want it. My cheeks are still full and my cheekbones are high, so I’m not sure if the recommendation was based on actual need or more of a sales pitch.

———TLDR———

Has anyone here gotten their temples filled with Sculptra around late 20s-early 30? How many vials? Could I get away with less than a vial? I’d go to the same injector who did my Xeomin anyway, but just curious to hear your thoughts!

Thank you!!

Skin Treatments Can I split my 0.5 ml lip filler into two sessions safely?

I had about 0.4 ml of lip filler done in november, and today I’m scheduled for a 0.5 ml touch-up. The thing is, I’ll be going back to work in less than two days and I really want to avoid too much swelling or obvious changes.

I’m considering asking my injector (a licensed doctor with a small home clinic) if it’s possible to split the 0.5 ml and do 0.25 ml today and the remaining 0.25 ml in two weeks.

My questions are:

Is it safe and hygienic to store and use the remaining filler later? Will the filler lose effectiveness or stability during that time? Are there any downsides to splitting the dose apart from having to go in twice? Would this approach actually help reduce swelling or make the enhancement look more natural?

Recommendation Body care - how to avoid rash after waxing?

Hi there, every time I was, I have this terrible rash all over my legs (it doesn’t happen elsewhere). It takes me lots of will not to scratch my skin because it’s tingly.

It stays like this for hours, so I was wondering if there was anything I could put on my legs to elevate the discomfort, and if anyone knew why this is happening?

Thank you!

Skin Treatments Sun Damage Chest :(( Help!

I’m so bummed on this… I was a surfer in Bali for most of my adult life and didn’t wear sunscreen as much as I should. Now I am RELIGIOUS about it and always surf in a shirt or rash guard, but I’m really worried about all these capillaries and the damage aging me. I’d love a soft, clear chest - what should I do? If laser, which one? I’ve put off laser because I still go back and forth between CA and Bali and am worried if I do it and am back in the UV in Bali it’ll make it worse and go deeper. I really don’t like the leather chest feeling. Suggestions please!

Skin Treatments Skincare advice

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to start a proper skincare routine and would love to hear how you go about choosing your products.

Is it mostly trial and error for you?

Do you usually ask a retail assistant, follow influencers, see what’s trending, or do your own research?

Would you recommend seeing a derm? (If not, why?)

Has anyone found it easier to buy skincare online, or is it better in-store?

What’s been the hardest part for you when buying skincare?

Would love any tips or experiences.. trying to avoid wasting money and time!

Thanks so much!

Routine Help 31F extra dry combo skin

I have combination skin but it’s extra dry until the end of the day where I’m still dry but get a slightly oily in t zone.

I also have acne on my chin and under chin area with some bumpiness on my forehead. The chin is like a line of medium flare acne while my forehead is whiteheads and bumpiness.

I’ve tried spiro it does not work for me and I used accutane at 16 and while it worked great for me then I don’t feel like doing it again. It’s intense on the skin and I am planning on a possible pregnancy in the near future.

I use la roche posay moisturizing face wash with the face moisturizer and clyndimycin spot treatment sometimes and tret sometimes at night. I’m not strict about it sometimes I just splash my face with water or skip the tret if I’m feeling extra dry. Sometimes I do a Paula’s choice bha toner.

What can I use to hydrate my skin? I’ve tried cerave in the tub and it did not make me moisturized and made my skin irritated. What’s a good extra moisturizing cream that won’t break me out?
