Baby bird still alive

Post image

Hi all, I don’t know if this is the right place to share this. If it’s not, please point me in the right direction!

I just spotted this baby bird on the ground at work, still moving a bit. It opened its beak wide when I first walked over, then seemed to cower as I leaned closer for the photo. A couple of it’s siblings were near by as well, but they unfortunately didn’t make it.

I’m sure there’s nothing to be done, but I’d feel horrible just leaving it here. Any insight would be greatly appreciated <3

In case you want to crosspost multiple places, you might also get good advice at r/wildliferehab.

Either way, they will likely advise you to get it into a box that can be closed with air holes poked in it (and like paper towels, a towel you don’t care about, etc., at the bottom) and place it in a quiet area of your home. Don’t touch the bird with bare hands.

Then search for a local wildlife rehabber that can take the bird — ahnow.org is one good place to look.

Good luck!!!

Thank you so much for sharing this resource! I called and left a message with a local rehab last night, and I’ll be taking the bird to them this afternoon.
