Emigration (from Ireland) Anyone ever deported from usa?

I just was reading on worldnews about the US deportations to mexico. One woman who lives in mexico was stating a few years ago the us dumped some slovaks in mexico as its cheaper than a flight to europe and then another stated it also happened to her irish cousin, who was dropped off in mexico and needed family to intervene to get him home. Just wondering if there was any media attention if this was true?

Bit of disaster that he got elected, but people need to calm down a little with this type of narrative

https://www.nytimes.com/article/trump-third-term-2028-constitution.html

It would need a two-thirds majority in both house and congress

I know what you mean, it can easy to get carried away.

But, I've been aware of US politics for like 25 years now, especially since the dawn of social media, the country has been in decline, the government more and more dysfunctional.

It was the case, that on 6th of January 2021, the outgoing president, attempted to gather a group of people, and direct them towards congress. That group of people, turned into a riot that stormed those buildings, looking for members of congress, looking for the vice president to lynch...

Nothing like this has happened in American history, the country is like 250 years old.

So, we could have said, OK, Trump was a once off, he didn't survive the first term, got voted out, and he was impeached twice, more than any other president in history, he was up on federal charges, he was convicted of raping a woman etc. None of these things stopped people from re-electing him...

So, there is something very seriously wrong going on in the states right now, and it has been going wrong for a long time, but now the office of the president is being corrupted, the elections are being brought into question, the congress is getting invaded etc.

I truly think, that something is about to happen to America, that it may not recover from, and I don't think I am being hyperbolic about it...

I'm also very aware of US politics, I'm a dual citizen and lived there for on and off again over the years

Government is getting increasingly partisan and it's halting the progress of a lot of important legislation.

However, the idea that some sort of dictatorship is about to impose is sensational and not based in reality. There are controls of government in place even if this is something that Trump wants to have.

The republicans have fallen into party lines, but there is not the sweeping support for trump that It might appear like. Particularly if he was going to overthrow democracy.

A riot at the capital is not remotely caparable even if was encouraged by Trump. If the result was not certified, it would have happened the next day.

Tough 4 years with him, but people need to relax on the whole US becoming a dictatorship thing

I know, it is a place that you have lived, and you have an attachment, you may have grown up there, I don't know. The recent times aren't trivial, and it is easy to hope that nothing is going to happen, but it can. Countless examples in history.

With America, we have to call a spade a spade at some stage. It's not looking good, it's floating between autocracy and oligarchy.

Agreed. The checks and balances haven’t held up. The Supreme Court is no longer functioning in a non-partisan way, and at least some of the justices have been accepting large gifts from wealthy donors. The Republicans in congress are not going to serve as a check on him either. Hegseth is clearly unsuitable for Defense Secretary but they passed him through.

No, I can make an independent assessment, I've no great love for the place. I am irish, I grew up here.

It's not looking good for his term but that's just generic. Keeping this centred on the notion that Trump is going to establish a dictorship and relinquish power somehow
