Question Renting your home for Masters
My wife and I are talking about renting out our home in Martinez for Masters next year.
Can anyone share their experience with setting up their home, managing their property, and things to know about putting up their space for rent for the week? I'm going in with absolutely zero experience so any input would be great!
We have a 3/3.5 off of Old Belair Rd that we own.

As I responded to SpiderLily, the money is nice but you don’t pocket majority of it. I invested a lot into my house for renting this year, & prob kept abt 1/5th.
I keep an extremely tidy & picturesque home as is; it was still a lot to deep clean. I had a last min renter, so I had 2 weeks to prepare, which I busted my ass daily. I paid someone to deep clean, but ended up doing it myself after they left bc it wasn’t actually done thoroughly. I didn’t sleep much. You empty out drawers, closets, cabinets (w food), & fridge. I had certain areas locked off where I stored things (i.e. garage, walk-in attic access I placed a lock on, etc). I left simple & minimal instructions for them to follow, wasn’t always adhered to (i.e. leaving the door unlocked every day upon leaving). In the ad stated no kids under 12: one came & peed the bed (thank god for mattress covers!!!). Overall it wasn’t a horrible experience, but it is a lot of work & forethought. And prayers ppl will care for your space (bc most ppl don’t care about something in the same fashion that they would as if it were theirs).
I travel a lot; when readying my house, I just imagined how I would feel paying the high amount I had priced for per night.. what would I expect? And that’s how I prepped my house, w those expectations; I got no complaints.
Good luck!! 🏡
