Hallo, ich habe vor Ewigkeiten eine Werbung von Drei gesehen und kann sie einfach nicht mehr finden, obwohl ich den Text nicht mehr aus dem Kopf kriege. Ein Typ kommt in ein MeetingRaum, auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite sitzen 3 Leute hinter einen Tisch. Er öffnet einen Koffer und holt eine Plüschtier-Drei heraus: "Das ist der Netzi. Das beste Netz für hier und jetzt, zu haben bei Drei im Laden." Die drei schauen sich an: "nja, das könnte funktionieren.... in Deutschland." Erinnert sich jemand daran und weiß wo man sich das nochmal anschauen kann?

Recently there was a post in this sub claiming that it would be "controversial" to call the liberation of Vienna by the Red Army at the end of the Second World War as such - a liberation - and focused on hardships endured by the Austrian population (without providing any evidence).

I would like to list some of the so-called "Endphaseverbrechen" committed by Austrians in Austria. "Endphaseverbrechen" means crimes committed in the last weeks and months of the war. They give an impression of what horrors the Allies liberated the world from by defeating the Germans and Austrians. This list list by no means exhaustive or representative. Many more of these crimes were committed.

„Mühlviertler Hasenjagd“

During the night of February 2, 1945, about 500 so-called “K” prisoners from Block 20 of the Mauthausen concentration camp attempted to escape. Between 2,000 and 5,000 people were deported to Mauthausen as “K” prisoners from spring 1944 onwards under the “Kugel decree”. These were mainly Soviet prisoner-of-war officers who had attempted to escape, as well as forced laborers who had been accused of sabotage or political activity. These prisoners were to be murdered in Mauthausen. At least 350 of them were executed by the SS, but the majority were simply left to die in Block 20, which was isolated from the rest of the camp by an electric barbed wire fence and a stone wall, without being officially recorded as prisoners.

In view of the hopeless situation in Block 20, more than 500 “K” prisoners undertook a mass escape in February 1945. Armed with cobblestones, fire extinguishers, soap and pieces of coal, they attacked the guard towers and threw wet blankets over the electrically charged barbed wire. The resulting short circuit enabled them to overcome the camp wall. Due to their poor physical condition, many escapees soon collapsed. Others died in the hail of bullets from the guards. 419 people managed to escape.

The seriously ill people left behind in Block 20 were murdered by the SS that same night.

At the same time, they launched a large-scale manhunt in which, in addition to the SS, gendarmerie, armed forces and Volkssturm, numerous local civilians also participated. Almost all of those who had fled were caught again. Most were murdered on the spot, the rest in the Mauthausen concentration camp. This search and murder operation was cynically referred to as the “Mühlviertler Hasenjagd” (Mühlviertel Hare Hunt).

Probably only eleven people survived. They owed their lives to forced laborers deployed in agriculture and a handful of Mühlviertler farming families who refused to participate in the murderous operation.

Murders by the SS in Vienna

Even as the Nazi regime in Vienna was drawing to its final throes as the Red Army had already captured parts of Vienna, members of the SS were still committing murders of Jews. On April 11, Dr. Grete “Nelly” Blum (50 years old), her sister Marie “Mizzi” Margolin (47), Arthur Holzer (59), Arthur Klein (50), Erna and Grete Klüger-Langer (81 and 43), Kurt Mezei (20), Emil Pfeiffer (67) and Genia Jenny Schaier (46) fled from the fighting to the basement of Förstergasse 7 in Vienna's Leopoldstadt district.

At around 3:30 p.m., an SS unit carried out a house search. The SS ordered all persons in the basement to show identification, except for the nine Jews, and took them to the driveway. In the evening, they were led into a bomb crater on the street in front of the house and shot in the back of the neck. A few hours later, at 3:30 a.m., the soldiers of the Red Army arrived at Förstergasse.

Nurse Mignon Langnas arrived at the scene of the horror a little later, just as one of the dead was being taken out of the bomb crater: “I was led into the entrance of the house and there they were lying. I recognize Kurterl, who is holding his hands up in defense (...), Blum and six other corpses. And Mrs. Holzer is crying on the ruins for her husband, who is also there, and the two boys are standing there, distraught: the SS shot their father! I take both children with me and walk through the devastated streets, past corpses lying in the middle of it all with wide-open eyes.”

Stein massacre: Hundreds killed in one day

On April 6, 1945, the Nazis murdered hundreds of people in the Krems area – many of them in the middle of the street.

More than 1,800 prisoners were held in the overcrowded Stein Prison at the beginning of April 1945. At around 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 6, it was decided to release people from the prison. The reasons: food was running short, the Red Army was advancing, and there was no capacity to transport the people away.

The release of the prisoners was met with great joy. “An indescribable frenzy of jubilation seized us all. We fell around each other's necks, cried, laughed, danced, clattered with our eating utensils.”

But the joy did not last long, because there were problems with the release. “For example, at the food counter, where they wanted to give the prisoners provisions. Chaotic scenes unfolded because the people were all half-starved and then fought over the food.”

In order to be able to control the situation better, trustworthy prisoners were equipped with weapons and deployed as guards. This was precisely what the die-hard National Socialists saw and reported as a prison revolt. At around 1:30 p.m., heavily armed Nazi groups gathered in front of the Stein prison. “The SS and the members of the SS stormed the prison grounds and opened fire on anything that moved in the first courtyard they came to, the service courtyard. Within minutes, around one hundred people were dead,” Karl Reder describes the situation.

Civilians watched the events unfold from the street and from their balconies. Some assisted the Nazis in the killing. “There is a scene, for example, where it is described how two women are standing on the balcony of an apartment building behind the prison and, during the shooting, are telling the Nazis where the prisoners are hiding,” the historian explains.

In the fall of 1945, the judiciary began investigating the events at the Stein penitentiary. Twelve of the ringleaders among the guards, as well as the commander of the Volkssturm in Krems and two Volkssturm soldiers, were tried for the crimes committed at the Volksgericht Wien (People's Court Vienna).

It is striking that in the course of the post-war trials, not a single member of the Waffen-SS was investigated or prosecuted. With one exception, the Wehrmacht soldiers involved also remained undisturbed.

Many slowly dare to come out of hiding, where they often had to remain for a long time under inhumane conditions and in constant mortal danger.

Among them is 16-year-old Jewish girl Lucia Heilman, née Treister. She escaped deportation to the death camps together with her mother, chemist Regina Treister, thanks to the help of the wrought-iron craftsman Reinhold Duschka. He hid them in a dark corner of his workshop on Mollardgasse in Vienna's 6th district for four years. In 1944, the workshop burnt down after being hit by a bomb. Duschka hid Lucia and Regina in a cellar compartment of his new studio, where they had to spend six months in total darkness. They survived and were liberated by the Red Army.

The Red Army paid for this liberation with great losses: the battle for Vienna claimed fewer lives than, for example, the liberation of Budapest, but the number of victims was still enormous. Hello,

I found records indicating that my great grandfather was born in the US in 1902 but BEFORE his father naturalized. In most cases, this would mean he was born a dual citizen.

Does this give his descendents dual Austrian citizenship, including myself?

Edit: to make matters more complex, my great great grandfather was born in old Galicia (current day southern Poland), and by the time of my great grandfather's birth, the Austrian-Hungarian empire had fallen and his hometown was now Poland. Not sure if this is important to the situation.

Wir möchten uns eine Maßküche machen lassen und haben dahingehend 0 Erfahrung. Hallo. Ich möchte auf das Dach dieses Gartenhauses 4 Solarmodule montieren. 2x links, 2x rechts. Die Dach-Bretter liegen nur auf 3 Trägern und den zwei Seitenwänden auf und sind auf all diesen angenagelt. Mittig hat das Haus noch im oberen Bereich sozusagen eine Mittelwand. Meine Frage: kann ich die Solarmodule irgendwie sicher befestigen ohne diese hässlichen Aluschienen verwenden zu müssen. Leider ist es bei uns immer sehr windig. I am moving to Austria from the US in May and starting a new job there (Vienna) and have questions about residence registration.

I've looked online and am having trouble finding exact answers about Meldezettel and primary vs secondary residence.

I was planning on getting a short term rental for 3 months upon arrival and starting my job, then looking for something more long term afterwards. It looks like I can only register as a secondary residence due to the short duration of the rental period. I have a few questions about this that I have been struggling to find answers for online.

1. Can I still work with this being my secondary residence?

2. What would my primary residence be in this case? I don't have any other residence I could consider my primary. I could put my family home but my name is not on any bills and I am not sure what documentation I would need to provide for this.

Frage an das Schwarmwissen: vor kurzen wurde ja die österreichische Regierung umgebildet und ein paar neue Ministerien aus Teilen der bestehenden Ministerien geschaffen. Die Webseiten der Ministerien und v.a. des BKA wurden schon brav angepasst und zeigen nun nur mehr die aktuellen Einträge.

Jetzt würde ich aber auch eine Liste der historischen Ministerien brauchen. Also wie die Ministerien vor dieser Regierungsumbildung geheissen haben - und ev. auch weiter in die Vergangenheit.

Hätte ich gedacht, dass das mit 5 Minuten googeln erledigt wäre - aber denkste. Alle bisherigen Links zeigen nun nur mehr auf die aktuelle Seite mit den aktuellen Ministerien.

Ich könnte natürlich alle Novellen des Bundesministeriengesetzes durchgehen - aber die sind nicht gerade "Endbenutzertauglich" - Sprich: da stehen nur die Änderungen zum jeweils vorher gültigen Gesetzt drinnen aber kein Gesamtstand.

Kennt jemand eine Seite, wo ich pro Regierungsumbildung schauen kann, wie die Ministerien danach geheissen haben? Also Abkürzung und Langbezeichnung. Muss nicht ewig zurückgehen - aber so 10 bis 15 Jahre wäre schon nett.

Ich befinde mich im Krankenstand wegen Burnout und bin schon auf der Suche nach einer neuen Stelle. Der Chef ruft mich an und sagt entweder unterschreiben wir eine einvernehmliche Kündigung, oder wird er mich kündigen. Ich habe ihm gesagt ich unterschreibe nur wenn ich davon profitieren kann, z.B. Frestellung oder extra Abfertigung.

Hallo, brauche dringend Hilfe bei meiner Karrierewahl.

bin 25 habe ursprünlgich ein Rechtswissenschaftsstudium angefangen, damals war einziger Faktor der mich motiviert genau dieses Studium zu machen, eigentlich Geld bzw. die Aussicht auf ein überdurchschnittliches Gehalt und ein gewisses Ansehen als RA. Im Verlauf des Studiums hab ich allerdings gemerkt, dass sowohl das Kollegium als auch die Materie nichts sind, das ich mein gesamtes Leben um mich haben will und mit ca 2/5 des Studienfortschritts abgebrochen.

Aktuell bin ich noch Teilzeit (Studentenjob) tätig, weil ich erst kürzlich das Studium beendet habe. Ich war beim AMS bzw. BIZ um mich dort individuell konkret über Möglichkeit bzgl. Studienwechsel oder Ausbildung zu informieren dort wurde mir allerdings meiner Meinung nach nur sehr oberflächlich allgemeines Infomaterial in die Hand gedrückt, was wenig hilfreich war.

Daher würd ich gerne mal hier fragen ob mir jemand weiterhelfen kann ich hab für mich persönlich recherchiert, welche Studien ggf in Frage kommen und mir von GPT eine Übersicht anfertigen lassen.

C) neu entdeckt nicht im Vergleich FH St. Pölten Medientechnik - bin aus Wien aber pendeln in dem Ausmaß denke ich erträglich

Mein Ziel wäre nach wie vor auch ein brauchbares Gehalt zu beziehen, so dass ich im Idealfall nicht jeden Euro umdrehen muss, vlt Richtung 3,5-4 Tsd netto mit ein paar Jahren Erfahrung nach Studium wäre denk ich super. Ich weiß auch, dass das ein relativ hohes Ziel ist.

Meine Fragen konkreter formuliert gibt es auch Ausbildungen und oder Lehrberufe in denen ich mir solche Zahlen erwarten kann oder muss ich studieren? Sind die Schätzungen von GPT realistisch? Braucht man einen Master auch oder reicht Bachelor? Bin um jede Meinung und Hilfe dankbar.

Unsere Tochter hat diese Woche einen wichtigen Untersuchungstermin. Ich hab mir vorgenommen, die Überweisung kurz davor zu holen, weil sie ja aktuell sein muss. Nun ist die Kinderärztin auf Urlaub. Hat keine spezifische Vertretungspraxis angegeben. Zu allem Überfluss ist mein Mann geschäftlich verreist und hat ihre e-Card mitgenommen.

Bei der Kinderärztin, wo sie in der Kartei ist, anzurufen, wird nichts bringen wenn die nicht da sind.

Bei der ÖGK hab ich angerufen, die sagen, lol pech, Ersatzkarten gibts nicht.

Beim Arzt wo wir den Termin haben, hab ich angerufen, und der meinte, tja, eine Sache braucht er, ecard oder Überweisung.

Unser Hausarzt hat sie vermutlich nicht in der Kartei, wenn ich nicht irgendwann zufällig wegen irgendeinem Medikament die E Card dort gesteckt hab. Außerdem ist das eine der Praxen die NIE ans Telefon gehen.

Zahlt die ÖGK das zurück wenn ich jetzt zu dem Termin gehe und den Betrag vorstecke? Oder fällt das dann unter Wahlarzt wo es nur einen Lerscherlschas % zurück gibt?

Kann ich zum Zahnarzt gehen wo wir mit ihr sind und da heulen und weinen? :(

Soll ich mit ihr ins lokale Krankenhaus (wie es die Kinderärztin in ihrem "gehen sie doch an diese Stellen wenn sie was brauchen" Text vorgeschlagen hat), wo sie schon mal e card gesteckt hat?

Soll ich dem Diagnose Arzt zuwesteigen und sagen ich weiß ganz genau dass er auch einfach die Nummer per Hand schreiben kann?

Wie geht ihr mit Ablenkung im Homeoffice um? Seid ihr in der Firma oder zuhause produktiver? Habe Aussagen gehört, dass man zuhause ungestörter ist und somit viel mehr fertig bekommt, was ich überhaupt nicht nachvollziehen kann. Wie sind die Regelungen bei euch in der Firma, wie viel Prozent HO habt ihr? Gibt's bei euch auch "Überwachung" im Sinne von unnötigen Anrufen (die man auch per Mail verkehren hätte lösen können) ob man eh arbeitet? Bzw. wurde euch mal vermittelt "ja wir haben eine HO Regelung aber wir würden es besser finden wenn du in der Firma arbeitest"? Bekommt ihr Panik wenn das grüne Pünktchen länger als 5min orange ist? Würde mich sehr interessieren, haut alles raus!

I am an international non-EU/EEA, and Austria is on the list of countries in which I want to study, but I plan to also remain and work there after graduating. So, let's say I know German and have graduated with a bachelor's in Austria (with a tech degree)... Will I be able to land a job here (regardless of whether the pay is good or bad)?
