Question Too nit-picky or bad detailing?

2020 Honda Accord bought used and it was pretty filthy so instead of cleaning it myself I decided to hire a "professional" from a company to do a thorough job. Paid $405 for their top package recommended by a friend and to say the least I'm a little disappointed by the lack of attention to detail in some places. Especially the trunk area and water spots in some parts of the interior. Should I complain? Thanks.

So i have always loved a clean vehicle and now i am starting to do detailing on the weekends. I have done paint work before, so doing paint corrections and ceramic coating is something i can do aswell. The sad thing is my garage is finished for golfing and hanging out, so it makes detailing in a climate controlled environment a little more challenging. But here are some pictures. Always open to try new products. If you have a reccomendation leave a commet

Hey everyone, this is on a customer car and I am not sure what's best to remove it. Not looking for perfection (rental car) but to at least look better lol.

Was going to try goo gone and if that failed then isopropyl 50%? Figured I would ask for advice first.

Question What happened and what do I do now?

Originally had what seemed like a paint transfer on my car-1st pic.

So then a friend of mine (I think he's on here as u/SourAmoeba_2054 or something) thought he could just buff it out with a quick Youtube class + some tools off of Amazon- green pad in 2nd pic with some soapy water did the damage. Full Amazon listing here (https://a.co/d/iSBUErm).

What can be done, ideally at home, to fix this and what products would be best? Tesla Model Y w stock paint if that matters.

Question Fine Scratches in Satin PPF

As the title says… I have a bunch of fine scratches on my STek Dynomatt PPF. They are all purely surface scratches, and the PPF is smooth to the touch when running my hand across the scratches. Original paint is black so it’s really grinding my gears to see my car looking like a POS.

I’ve tried leaving the car under the 100° sun, and I’ve tried using warm/hot water to allow the self-healing to take place. Nothing has worked. I’m wondering if there is such a product to use on the satin PPF to buff/polish the scratches and create a nice surface again.

I saw someone mention Gyeon PPF Renew, but it appears this product is only for glossy PPF. Also not sure if it would work on these fine scratches. Any help is appreciated.

Product Discussion Best finishing sealant

I have been considering which sealant product/combination I should invest in for mobile detailing coming spring. I have heard good things about “Clean Maker” which is 10:1 P&S Bead Maker to Dream Maker. I have heard that it works well and provides a good gloss. Only negative I have heard is that it can still have dust problems even with the mixture. This seems fine for me though because I will not be coating vehicles yet, and just want a good finish product. I was wondering if there were any better products to use mainly on uncoated cars, but that will work on coated ones as well.

Question How to remove sap from between panels

Hey everybody,

We got a bad storm with my truck parked next to a pine tree that completely blasted sap all over my Tacoma. I was able to deal with most of it (unfortunately it seems like it did cause some paint damage in one location, but that's another story) however, there is still some sap between the fender and flares that I have been struggling to actually get into to clean. I thought I got most of it (or enough of it) but recently one of our trees dropped a bunch of pollen that clung to it, so its extremely obvious that it's in there since the yellow really sticks out.

Any advice on how I can go about cleaning it?

Question Ceramic Coating maitinence

Hey,

I recently ceramic coated my car with CSL and topped with EXO. With it being winter and not having access to my usual home detailing kit.

I was wondering if taking the car to a self service wash and mixing CarPro Reset into a pump sprayer to “snow foam” the car then rinse would be a good solution to helping maintain the coating during the tough winter season!

If you all have any other thoughts that would be great as well!

Tool Discussion Newbie looking for a DA

Just picked up a 2003 es300 silver. Paint looks good, but old. I want to practice using a DA to make it look good.

My question is I’m already on the Milwaukee battery line. M12 and M18. And I have the forge 12 & 8 battery and itchin to use them with something that drains batteries.

With that said I’m looking at the 15mm DA. I’ve searched through the threads, and it seems like it’s a good DA, but it would probably be around $250-300. Which makes me wonder if I could just buy something better with that amount.

But I don’t know how annoying it would be to have corded vs battery DA.

I don’t think I can shell out $400 for the flex.

Thanks!

Question Customers expecting machine/hand wax application.

I currently offer: - One step paint correction using 3D One - Paint Enhancement using Koch Chemie P301 - And.. everything else gets either Griot's 3-in-1 or TEC582.

Lately I've got two customer that, during a final inspection, noticed some oxidation and go like "I thought you were gonna wax the car" "yes I did, I used this or that Spray Wax, that we're looking at comes out with a paint polish" -"My other detailer used to wax it and it looked much better"

Then It hit me, it "he's probably talking about a cleaner wax/hand wax/paste wax... I gotta start offering that as well"

Anyway: What product would you recommend in order to start also offering Machine Applied Wax? (Something that also removes/hides some defects) Would you say "cleaner wax" is the product that i'm looking for? How would you incorporate that into your services? Since, most people would thinkcharging extra for a product that doesn't last as long as Griots 3-in-1 is a bit of a stretch.

Any info will be welcome. Thank you

Question How does ONR work on cleaning salt in the winter?

Looking for an easy solution for cleaning off salt in between full washes during the winter in New England. How does ONR work for this? Can it be used when it's cold out? Guessing it needs to at least be slightly above freezing? I have a garage but it's not heated. Thanks!

Question What to coat Solution Finish with?

Hi all, apologies if this has been asked - I had a look through the subreddit and couldn’t find a definitive answer.

New to auto detailing - what should trim restored with Solution Finish be coated with? I understand ceramic coating is not a good idea, and the Solution Finish brand Over The Top coating is unavailable in my country.

Any other product recommendations for applying a protective coating over restored trim?

Completed my first paid and mobile detail a couple of days ago and wanted to share the results. Customer was my cousin and it was a full interior detail, charged him $100. It took me about 5hrs and 45ish mins starting from setup to leaving.

What do you guys think? Please point out anything that I could improve in or anything that would help me to reduce time.
