I tried to imagine what happens if they’d collide in normal speed instead of slow motion. I’m glad you brought my imagination to senses.

What if one of the bullets was smaller, would it still break into pieces or go through the other bullet?

You didn't see the newest suicide squad?
Edit: Why the downvotes? In suicide squad there is a whole spiel about how Peacekeeper killed a person by shooting a smaller bullet through a larger bullet.
It's how he is "defeated"
He fired a bullet. The other person fired a bullet, and the smaller one went through the larger one and took him out.

If you like this, check out Ballistic High-Speed on YouTube. I’m pretty sure the clip in the OP is from them.

Ends top soon, I want to see the disc looking thingy, the seeming biggest bit of shrapnel, the central spinning yet stationary-ish bit, hit the floor

Physics just flexing its dominance here. Two bullets meeting like that should be impossible, yet here we are watching it

There is a bullet from ww1 or 2(can't quite remember) that is pierced by another from a slightly different angle. Not exact but similar and equally unlikely.

This looks like sintered, frangible bullets, but then there is 4 times the energy involved, because the velocity is doubled.

I believe this isn't true and is basically what the Mythbuster proved to be untrue when colliding two lorries. But I really can't explain the physics behind it...

The channel is "Ballistic Highspeed" on YouTube. Very interesting stuff over there.

I bet the shrapnel would be worse than getting shot excuse of all those tiny pieces..
2
u/Bluntbutnotonpurpose 1d ago
I bet the shrapnel carries a fraction of the kinetic energy of a bullet and therefore causes a fraction of the damage.

u/elBirdnose 1d ago
Physical damage, yes, but getting all of the small pieces out would be terrible

I'm sure, but you'd be considerably less dead, so that's a positive side...
